The Machine Kevin Pelton dropped an article picking his too early all stars and has Scottie as a starter. Advanced stats guy love Scottie.
Do you guys think Scottie could get the Canadian vote to help him get in as a starter?

I dont think he deserves it tbh. Maybeeee deserves an all star reserve spot but his offense and true shooting % needs work. He also is invisible some games and too passive, dont want to reward that.
He needs to show that same 4q energy all game to deserve it
Tatum is averaging 28/9/4 on .62 TS% with the best record in the East, I’m not understanding why he’s a reserve on this list
Starters are voted in and not subject to being picked by coaches or whatnot so uhhh… I love the optimism but this is unlikely to happen given how heavily fan voting is weighted
The numbers are there – 20/9/6 with 3 stocks per game on good efficiency (47/38/75 shooting splits) are all-star starter material in my books.
But, the lack of team success, and (to some degree) lack of consistency mean he’ll be lucky to make the all-star team at all at this rate.
about 15 players that deserve the spot over him
non-bias speaking
y’all need to get off the d-riding and be more realistic
scottie will get there eventually but it’s not his time and it’s obvious
Let’s GO!!!!!
Not gonna happen, and it’s no disrespect to Scottie.
He absolutely can, and probably will, be an All Star starter one day if he continues to grow and build upon what we’re seeing this season. But I don’t think he’s there yet.
He’s really good, but still has work to do. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
Scottie isn’t getting the player and media vote, so no.
Giannis/Tatum/Embiid/Paolo/Franz/Bam/Jimmy/Porzingis all project to be frontcourt players picked ahead of Scottie for the ASG in the East. Then there’s guys like Porzingis/Bridges/Randle/Brown (is he a guard or forward?)
In terms of guards you’ve got Hali/Dame/Trae/Maxey/Mitchell/Brunson too (probably missing some players).
2 backcourt, 3 frontcourt for the starters. 2 backcourt, 3 frontcourt, and 2 wildcards for the reserves.
I can’t say it’s likely unless the Raps make a bit of a run and are in the upper half of the play in, or there’s a number of injury reserves.
“Using advanced player metrics as a guide, I selected the 12 players in each conference who have performed the best so far according to the NBA’s typical format — two backcourt starters and three in the frontcourt, the same number of reserves and two wild-card selections regardless of position.
Since some players will see their fast starts cool after the season’s first 20 games and other established stars will return to form, this isn’t exactly the way I’d select All-Star teams. Nonetheless, it offers a useful look at which players have been the best so far during the 2023-24 season. Let’s take a look at my teams.”
Did you actually read the article? These likely aren’t going to be the choices he makes when it’s time to vote (assuming he has one). It’s just a way to measure performances after the first 20 games.
