The level of ignorance about rebuilds and dynasty-building in this video is off the charts.
Yes the Spurs are legitimately still in rebuild mode after tanking for the first time in a few decades last year when they won only 22 games. The team just isnt being as honest and straight up about it as they were last season. We need to realize when small market teams rebuild it takes a few seasons of tanking to pick up pieces through the lottery due to not having the luxury of signing superstar free agents like big markets do. Also they have almost as many draft picks as the thunder do through 2030 but not many people know this outside of the fanbase so the future is bright.
IMO Pop is trying to figure it out whilst not giving away what's the plan before they can compete, AKA not this season.
I think if OKC stays at top of western conference and Chet keeps his numbers where they are or improves even more heāll win ROY itās great to see victor achieving with his numbers but being at the top and being one of the reasons youāre at the top with amazing numbers like Chet I think you deserve it a little more

This season isn't about winning but development of Wemby so why try to turn Sochan into a PG instead of getting a veteran PG for 1-2yrs that can help teach him the ways of NBA? Instead of having someone unfamiliar with PG position be the guy setting up Wemby, get someone who is. Again, it doesn't have to be someone who will bring more wins but understands the game and help set up Victor.

the spurs are still missing pieces to build a championship squad. its a long game, i donāt understand why people are so quick to get off the hype train. they got the dawg sochan, heās going to be the glue guy. They got the Alien Wemby, they need an elite all star PG, maybe one whoās not even in the league yet, and this squad will slowly be one of the indestructible forces in the next 5-7 years. No one wants to rush this and produce a half baked cake that you canāt even eat. Be patient guys, trust the process.

The Spurs struggles IMO are just about everyoneās fault BUT Wemby from what Iāve seen, his teammates donāt share the ball, they constantly overlook him on fast breaks, donāt throw him lobs, they rotate AWAY from him when he gets positioned in the paint. There is something really weird going on with this team that we dont know about yet.

How many players transition from forward to playing pg for probably the first time in their career in their second year playing against the best players in the best league in the world? Also, Sochan has had the 2nd toughest defensive matchups in the league. All things considered, Sochan has been doing pretty well

Theyāre trying to completely rebuild around him, so we should be viewing this as virtually a new team with Wemby as their centerpiece. If theyāre able to draft 1 or 2 solid franchise guys in the next 2-3 years along with adding experienced talent / veteran players via free agency or trades, they could easily be serious contenders around the time Wemby signs a new contract.
