Kawhi Leonard & the Clippers are ROARING back! + Luka’s a ‘GENIOUS’ – Zach Lowe | NBA Today

Brian Windhorst, Zach Lowe, Chiney Ogwumike and Kendrick Perkins join me on NBA Today to discuss the resurgence of the LA Clippers on a 5-game win streak led by a healthy Kawhi Leonard before explaining why the Los Angeles Lakers have a hard time matching up against Luke Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks.

  1. the Kings where in a back to back? The Clippers where also in a back to back what are you talking about the…. Malika and ESPN will never change… haters from top to buttom

  2. IST should be reformatted into a mid-season tournament happening when all teams reaches 41 games. Teams from each conference should play a conference rival twice, once on the road and once at home. This equates to 28 games. Tiebreakers should be H2H and point differential. Then same format as the current one where the top 4 from each conference makes it.

The current format sucks with only four group games and then another three more after that? A total of 7 regular season games and the grouping could all be based on luck because certain teams could have injured stars. You win trophies and medals for playing well in only 7 regular season games?

I know it's only the first year but it has so much potential to be better. Heck, I would replace it over the ASG and only keep the 3-point shooting contest. The ASG similar to the Pro Bowl, is a waste of time. Had the Pacers won it, the IST would still be a joke to people. The inaugural IST really doesn't prove anything to people after 7 games and 25% into the season.

I knew after Draymond socked Nurkic, all the talk would be about him than the Lakers losing to a Kyrie-less Mavs and my Clippers beating the Kings badly. My Clips have quietly won 5 in a row, 10 of their last 13, and are 6th in overall defense. Our defense is slightly better than the Lakers and ranks 3rd in the last 13 games.

My Clippers still have a long way to go. As of right now, it's Nuggets and Lakers atop the West for me regardless what it says in the standings. I don't believe TWolves and Thunder will stay where they are. I would rank the West like this –

    1. Nuggets (I don't like losing Jeff Green)
    2. Lakers
    3. Clippers

That's it. My Clippers can get to the WCF if Kawhi can finally stay healthy throughout the entire playoffs. Kings don't play defense. Neither do the Mavs. Warriors look bad all year. Suns are the Nets of the West. Replace Harden with Booker and Kyrie with Beal.

My Super Bowl/NBA Final parlays with involve these teams….

    Niners
    Cowboys
    +
    Nuggets
    Lakers
    Sixers
    Bucks

I may include my Clippers but I need to see more. Higher net rating/point differential than the Lakers. Similar in defense with 109 but slightly higher in offense by 2 pts.

I'm worried my Clippers have no answer for AD and LeBron driving in the paint. Zu and Plumlee are too slow. Lakers can expose Harden on D. And I never forgot Reaves stealing Kawhi's rock. Reaves was the real killer when my Clippers finally lost to the Lakers after 3.5 years.

Clippers must do everything in their power to slay the Lakers this season the way my Niners will help Stephen A. Smith slay the Cowboys. Aren't Clippers tired watching the Lakers win fake gimmicky trophies to help LeBron look good when they're hollow team accomplishments? Win a real championship over them.

Looking back at that 2020 Lakers team, nobody remembers them fondly. None of them stayed close after they won their bubble ring. You would think teams would have a championship bond ala 2008 Celtics or Showtime but that 2020 Lakers do not.

LeBron has never been on an all-time great championship team. The 2013 Heat may not be top 10 all-time. With the threepeat Bulls, you remember other guys beyond MJ and Scottie. I remember Horace, Paxson, BJ, Cartwright, Perdue, and Hodges. Then Rodman, Kukoc, Harper, Kerr, Longley, and Wennington after that.

All the championship teams LeBron has been has never been memorable. They don't remain close afterwards because LeBron moves around too much. Even if the Lakers win it all this year, they'll be forgotten. Those 80s Lakers remains close. The 00-02 Lakers had the same core guys of Shaq, Kobe, Fisher, Horry, Fox, and Shaw.

Where's the sustained core for LeBron's teams? Spurs and Warriors have it. I'm proud to have watched the greatest sports modern dynasty in those 90s Bulls that was mostly homegrown and before free agency and short term contracts ruined championship cores.

LeBron has never been part of a dynasty. He's a paid mercenary. Lakers still remains his weakest era of his career.

  3. Stop making excuses for the Kings! The Clippers were in a back to back as well! Know what you’re talking about before putting it out there. Sounds biased

  4. Brians point against the mavericks was that the Mavs was shooting really high percentage 3s but the lakers was also doing that T-T

  5. This is garbage reporting, the Clippers went back to back as well. This is why ESPN has lost it, and its so obvious they have some sort of agenda against you know who. Thats why google is more of a journalist than ESPN.

  6. Its official this man Kawhi was stealing money from the clippers. Aint no way hes more healthy now than he was the last few seasons. Lol the new NBA rule change about stars playing is def working.

  7. HEY MALIKA OKLAHOMA IS A STRICT LIABILITY STATE. THIS MEANS IT DOES NOT MATTER IF THE YOUNG MINOR LIED TO GIDDEY. IF SHE WAS A MINOR HE CAN BE PROSECUTED FOR STATUTORY RAPE

  8. When the clippers were losing, it was all they talked about. Now they’re on a win streak, and barely a segment. You’d think we lived in North Korea judging off this biased reporting.
