'85-86 Team's toughest matchup? NO ONE. They were NEVER challenged, for one minute, that entire season. The Lakers ducked them too–we all know it.
This was a ridiculous argument. I watched 90% of their games that year, and the 85-86 Celtics Team had 5 Hall of Famers, and Scott Wedman and Danny Ainge were All-Stars in their careers. Their Toughest matchup was NOBODY.
Havlicek in jan 1985 said the bird celtics of 84 were much better than his 74 and 76 champions….hondo also said in that interview that he did not know if the bird Celtics were better the best bill russell teams, it was sounding like a tossup.
