OKC Thunder are here to stay with new arena, Thunder fall in Sacramento, Denver on Deck

The Oklahoma City votes made their voice heard and approved a new arena to be built in OKC, which the Thunder organization has agreed to be the primary tenant in through 2050. What have the Thunder meant to you? With the OKC Thunder here to stay, it is back to basketball. Dropping a game in Sacramento should not make the Bricktown faithful panic. What to watch for tonight against the Denver Nuggets for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Can Josh Giddey build on his good outing against the Kings? Can Jalen Williams bounce back? Will Chet Holmgren have any adjustments for Nikola Jokic?

  1. Glad you’re feeling better man! It’ll be interesting to see the first arena mock ups whenever the time comes for that.

Also, this team has to hedge better and commit to stepping up on shooters, especially in the zone defense.

  2. I watched the King's game with the King's commentators…

They are basically convinced that SGA is just a poor man's De'aaron Fox, and they literally said, "The big difference between De'aaron Fox and SGA is that Fox is a MUCH better defensive player…"

Not sure where they get these people…

  3. I voted for the first MAPS because i was a diehard Baskerball fan and wanted a pro basketball team in OKC. To make this better i was a a Sonics fan in the 90s with Kemp and Payton. Than seeing friends i grew up with after experiencing the Thunder, saying now is see why you loved The NBA so much.

  4. I’m one of the OKC fans who became a fan at random. I didn’t really start really following the NBA until the mid 2010s while I was in high school. Part of why I decided on the Thunder was probably because they’re just about the closest NBA team to where I live, which is in Kansas. The Nuggets might be a little closer, but decided to go with OKC. Probably because I’m a Chiefs fan and the Broncos and Nuggets share a city, not that I dislike the Nuggets. First year I really followed the Thunder was I think PG13’s first year. Kinda did the year before but not super closely. Was obviously surprised when PG got traded away, but was happy to see them get SGA. Didn’t know a lot about him as a player, just knew he was a young point guard with a lot of potential. I even said to myself that they better have gotten SGA in the trade before I looked at the details. It’s been a time. Went to my first game last year against the Spurs and will be going to the Nuggets game on January 31st.

  5. Regarding the money approved for the new arena, thank you for pointing out the fallacy of “either/or.” Such binary thinking is not only unhelpful but it’s dishonest as well. If the tax hadn’t passed, it’s unlikely that the critics would be contributing an equal amount of their money to whatever they consider useful. That sort of grumbling just sounds like hollow virtue signaling.

  6. A fan from New Zealand since their first season in OKC. First NBA game I watched saw Jeff Green hit a buzzer beater to beat Golden State… haven’t looked back since.

  7. I’m a Thunder fan from Australia. Started following the team in 18/19 as I completely randomly chose them to be my nba team simply because they were called the thunder and the T20 cricket team I follow is the Sydney thunder! Have watched every game ever since and it’s on my bucket list to travel to Oklahoma to watch the team play so I’m absolutely thrilled that the vote got up to keep that dream alive! Thunder up!!!

  8. Glad to see youre doing ok Rylan. I kept thinking what could keep him away this long w/ OKC Vote passing? Dont say you're not MJ. I bet if you "ate some bad pizza" you

  9. Glad to see you are back Rylan, feeling ok. Don't say you're not MJ. I bet if your only issue was you "ate some bad pizza" you would have been working the next night too.

  10. Last time I lived in OKC was 2016, so I feel out of the loop. Are there any mock drawings or info on what the new arena will look like and where it will be located?
