  1. Tanking doesn't work. At least not well nor how folks think it should work. Losing begets losing, period. The most important component of drafting well is not draft position, it's LUCK! I tried to warn Spurs fans this summer that Victor + Spurs=Spurs (and it won't be fixed any time soon). A losing culture and no coaching (Pops should retire, his give-a-shit has been broken for years). Detroit has the same problem. Houston has given up on its rebuild and now have Fred VanVleet as their current and future star. Yikes. Can anyone say 35 wins a year for the next 5 years? The Jazz are pinning their hopes on Markkanen who can't generate his own offense. That won't work unless he becomes their second best player, and that will only be fixed with LUCK. And there are many other examples. Sacramento and Minnesota have finally broken the losing shackles. Much to folks surprise, the addition of Gobert and Conley changed the team perspective (Minnesota did much better in the Gobert trade than folks want to admit). They now have to figure out how to win in the playoffs. Okay, y'all, tell me I'm wrong. Cheers.

  2. Its clearly coaching. Everytime I see Detroit bring the ball up and 7 seconds into the shot clock someone passes the ball to Isaiah Stewart for a stop & pop 3, I instantly throw up from how much they all STINK!!!

  3. It's definitely the coach. You can tell he doesn't like his players, doesn't care about the city, and isn't passionate enough about his team. The front office literally said he came for the money and job security. I think he needs a good kick to the butt. Hopefully there is some provisions in his contract to get rid of him

  4. You said it isn't the front offices fault but it is. Just like every small market team your job is to put butts in seats. And in the process of being "SORRY" you get lucky in the draft. It's just like Philly all those tanking years. Just "Trust The Process"

  5. Nobody on the pistons deserve a nba contract, maybe Cunningham can get a mid level contract but no way does he deserve a max contract. All these players r terrible not include the 1st or 2nd yr players they r still too young

  6. Very insightful. More breaking news: water is wet. It is obvious t hey are mentally in a trench. The questions are how did this happen, given the expectations, and how do they get out?

  7. I'm a Rockets fan so I understand. I think it's a mixture of being young, the right kind of vets, Cade is a stud but he hasn't played in 2 years and nowhere close to his full potential.

  8. I'm sorry, but this take on the Pistons it's really off the mark.
1- Coaching staff NEEDS to be held accountable in large part for this. Monty had no desire to coach and he's showing it clearly. He plays bad line-ups and seems like he's just bidding his time until he gets fired just so he can enjoy that money for his contract sitting confortably at home in his couch. I mean, playing Stewart at the 4? Really? Anyone with eyes can see it's an absolute atrocity. Plus, Monty is known for getting into conflicts with young players and robbing them of their confidence. The shit he did in Phoenix is the same shit he's doing now with Ivey and Ausar. It's just shameful to watch.
2- The front office also needs to be held accountable as well, for trying to force a coach who didn't want the job into getting it, plus making some of the dumbest acquisitions in recent years, like Bagley and Wiseman. They are piss poor players whom their teams soon found out that they were not NBA caliber players and sought to dump them at the first chance they got to any idiot who would have them, which in this case was the Detroit Pistons. They have one pretty decent Center in Duren and then 3 others who are just plain terrible. There is no other way to say this other than this is just a perfect example of what piss poor management looks like.
3- The lack of shooting to provide floor spacing for Cade to operate is another great example at how bad this roster has been assembled. Some people have been taking shots at Cade claiming that maybe he isn't all that good. Guess what, he's the second player in the NBA who suffers more Blitzes, only being topped by Luka. That's how much the other teams don't really respect the remaining squad as it is constructed and quickly realized that if they're able to stop Cade there's nothing the rest of the team can do. Are we really pretending that teams are concerned with guys like Hayes and Stewart when they're sharing the court at the same time as Cade? You just need to watch a game to realise that they just don't care.
Yes, lack of confidence as hit them hard and they're having a hard time getting over the hump, but the main fault is the poor management decisions on roster construction and the absolutely terrible coaching that we're being forced to witness.

  9. I believe these players have given up on Monty and are actively trying to get him fired.

  10. I disagree, we have a lot of young talent, top three youngest team in the NBA. Yea a terrible season, not a terrible future though

  11. At least with those garbage Sixers teams they took flyers on guys and found some quality role players: Grant, Ish Smith, Saric, Christian Wood, Robert Covington. Low expectation guys who earned their spots.

The Pistons are full of blue chip guys who are not hungry nor willing to compete like that.

The guys who have the biggest attitude problems, are sources of negativity and ultimate contribute to a losing culture are the guys who are invested in by the franchise, i.e. lottery picks.

  12. The Pistons are an example of why the NBA used to covet good college players who had 3-4 years of success. Or at least an example of why teams were hesitant to draft young guys.

Pretty much all their lottery guys are ones who never learned how to shoot & were able to just be more athletic and bigger for HS and one year of college. They get to the NBA and it’s not enough to win games.

Thankfully, I think the guys are of better character than Simmons or Zion, but who knows. Once these guys get paid, it usually just gets worse from there.

  13. They’re way too dependent on Cade to create when he has shown very little to indicate he’s able to consistently do that at a high level.

  14. These teams who are taking to get the number one pick in the NBA need to get rid of the GMS especially the ones who have big Market teams. Analytics and gang of draft picks they don't need. Learn from the Clippers and OKC do not work

  15. Poorly constructed roster, bad front office who didn’t capitalize on free agency last year. Like bro the roster if you saw it at the beginning of this season had issue alot. Lack of depth shooters and wings it’s embarrassing
