  1. I honestly don’t know when moves OKC made were known about even in rumors. And when there were rumors I can’t think of one that was acted on. I always just immediately discount it.

Wouldn’t hate this. Would help with rebounding without being a bad fit to the team structure.

Seems like Detroit has too many bigs so I could see him being moved without giving much up too

  3. Headlesshorsman02

I wouldn’t hate the trade if it was not pricey

I would do this deal in a heartbeat if we are talking 2rps and end of bench guys. If we’re talking anyone in the top 8-10 or firsts it’s a no from me

Reminder for the next couple months of trade rumors: the Thunder are the team every GM in the league will float in these rumors because they have the most picks to give; it theoretically helps them gain leverage with all the teams that might actually trade for the player.

NOOOO. I’m lived in MI all 42 years and am a pistons fan first, OKC second. He’s making 16ML a year for the next 4 years. You’d also have to move someone to the bench, which is fine one day but not for beef stew. If this happens I’d be livid. Sam Presti is smarter than I am but I’ve never been more confused by him if this happened.

  7. It’s a logical move, imo. He’s only 22 and he’s gotten a lot of game experience so we have a good idea of his floor. He’s still improving. People forget that he was a consensus top 5 prospect coming out of high school. He’s putting up about 37% 3PT and I think he will continue to get more comfortable creating space. Detroit is a train wreck and they signed Stewart to a deal similar to the contract that Dort got (a bit less). It would actually make some sense to move Stewart for Detroit especially if they can get a nice return. Duren is their centerpiece C similar to Holmgren for us. Stewart would fit on our timeline better and I think the Thunder coaching staff would be really good for Stewart. He defiantly beings the physical component that Presti mentioned in his end of season press conference. Basically, worst case scenario is you have a high motor big body that would be a good rotational piece albeit a bit overpaid. The most likely outcome would be that he adds a valuable “mean” piece to our team and he continues to develop his deep shooting. With the bump in league revenue coming, Stewart’s contract might look really good in a couple years.

It’s not really a tricky trade, but because he signed an extension Stewart is poison-pilled which means DET can only take back $10.7M in salary so no Bertans. Poku+Mann works salary-wise according to Fanspo. I wouldn’t add more than a lotto-protected 1st and preferably two 2nds to that

  9. ottespana

Not mad at this at all, a physical dog to join Chet in the paint while still shooting 36% this season – which would probably even rise with better spacing as defenses will focus more on at least 3 other guys

  10. This the dude that tried to fight LeBron or 20 minutes? Sign him up.

How does Shai feel about this? That’s all I’m wondering until Shai leaves OKC. It’s easy to hide behind what Sam says, but Shai is our current 1st team All-NBA player who as well just so happens to be in the midst of a MVP season.

If he doesn’t want the team to change this year, I would not want the team to change. BUT, it’d break my heart if one day it’s leaked that he wanted to move on an Issiah Stewart and instead was told to “trust the process” or whatnot.

To note, listening to SGA at these press conferences, he naturally goes into “team mode” as quickly as possible. Hard for me to recall a Thunder player who almost DEMANDS the team is spoken of. Russell loved his team, but Shai almost forces it.

For once, I’m enjoying a trade rumor. I feel this would be a low cost acquisition that may not be flashy but fits what Presti likes to do usually.

Think Perkins. I know he sucked on the Thunder, but that’s a role we need, so if we can get someone young and still serviceable unlike a guy who’s already washed(like Perkins was), then we *could* do it.

Not putting much stock into this rumor, but I would definitely welcome this addition. I was high on Stewart during the 2020 draft, too. I’m not sure how good his defense would be with us, but I fully expect Mark to utilise him better than Detroit has done so far. For players like Stewart, being part of good teams also helps them play even better imo. But then, it could also go full Spurs Rodman too. Lol

I kind of like this. JWill and he are similar, with JWill being a tad more finesse and Stew being a little more grit and wild card type. I like that dichotomy for our big man rotation along with Chet.

Both are similar from three, with JWill coming on a little more lately. So maybe we trot out a rotation of:

    Shai/JDub/Dort/JWill/Chet

    And then

    Cason/Joe/Wiggins/Giddey/Stew

Kenrich would be the odd man out here, but to me he and Wiggins provide similar output. Ousmane becomes the 11th guy, and can slot in that a diverse wing as needed while he develops.

So with the second unit, you put Giddey in there as a point forward who can also get some rebounds, and surround him with three shooters and an enforcer big who can scrap in the paint and hit the occasional three himself.

I know a lot of people are ready to give up on Giddey, but putting him in a situation where he can distribute to others when Shai is out, rather than having him play off ball with the starters could maximize his skill set.

So yeah, I give this idea a thumbs up. Kenrich and Stew swap works money wise even. It would be tough to lose Kenrich, but between him and Wiggins, someone is going to lose playing time eventually.

  14. Not a bad flier for size, not sure I trust his shot at all and can’t say I’ve watched enough to have a defensive opinion, but a couple of red flags:

    * Shooting just 55% at the rim as a big man
    * Contested rebound rates (frequency and success) in line with Giddey this season
    * Negative A:TO ratio
    * Not super pricey but guaranteed money through 27-28 (no escalators at least)

If it’s a cheap flier that’s one thing but I wouldn’t be super jazzed about sending out anything more than a second or two for him, and I don’t know why Detroit would move on without getting better back.

Side note: can’t believe we’re being seen as contenders now by the media. Feels good after all the slander the last 2-3 years

  16. carefulwithyrbananas

    ✅Great nickname

    ✅Tough, physical player

    ✅Great switch defender

    ✅Not a zero as a shooter

✅A good defensive rebounder (at least up until this season when he has played more PF)

    Sounds perfect

  17. Haha we drafted all the talented nice guys so we could trade for an established tough guy, instead of having to draft a risky reputation. Chess v checkers

  18. Shagrrotten

A bit undersized, but he’s a hard worker, tough guy, good rebounder. If the ask is reasonable I don’t hate it.

  19. being a pistons fan watching this sub is hilarious

i’ve seen some of y’all cry about potentially trading for lauri, which makes you guys actually scary, versus now you guys are EXCITED FOR BEEF STEW??? 😭 take him, lord please take him. he has been the worst starter on the worst team in the league

  20. batler_forever

Okay okay I like this. We got our enforcer if we get him.

  21. AnkitPancakes

if people were gonna complain about floor spacing before, just wait till we get beef stew…

  22. TheyCallMeTheWizard

This man is the enforcer of the whole damn league lol

Imagine telling people a couple months ago “You guys don’t understand!!! This isn’t the type of player we’re trying to get! He’ll ruin the spacing!!”

  23. SonicPresti

Would do this in a heartbeat if it meant we only had to give 2 seconds or swap poku/mann for him. Pistons fans hate him bc he plays a larger role than he should, but I think his efficiency would look better with our spacing. As a player, he mirrors J Will a ton (undersized, not a vertical athlete, can’t attack closeouts), but I think Stew’s deficiencies in these areas are a lot less pronounced. He’s also a much better straight-line and lateral athlete, which makes him a LOT more switchable. He’s also better at guarding bigs down low bc of his impressive upper-body strength. The downside is his passing and general bball IQ are a lot worse. The shooting is around the same for both (stew’s percentages are a little lower, but he shoots at a higher volume and difficulty) He’d be a good fit as a back up big playing in both small lineups and alongside chet for certain matchups.

  24. ThunderUpDavid

Oh hell nah. Dude is not a good player. Undersized, not respected from 3, can’t dribble. No no no.

  25. Not a fan. Super limited player. Honestly, I think J-Will is close enough that this is barely an upgrade. Beef Stew is definitely a bit bigger and stronger, but it’s a pretty marginal upgrade.

  26. I like this a lot. And he’s down to fight Draymond

  27. RocknRoll_Grandma

Ehhh, idk. No more permanent of a problem than a temporary solution. Does anyone see him as a longterm piece? Does Beef Stew shoot, pass, and have high BBIQ? Doesn’t really match the type we’ve been choosing for the team, and seems more like a crutch our players would get reliant on. I’d rather have someone better or no one at all (until someone better does come along).
