Yeah that seems to be the consensus report — which is great for Jazz fans.

“Like I said, I love being in Utah and it’s a compliment of what you’ve done in the past (that teams have interest). We’ll see. But yeah, I just want to emphasize that I really believe in what we’re building here with the Jazz. Go day by day. Do your best. That’s all you can do.”
I really hope we don’t trade this guy.

Glad we’re getting some actual reports and not just the constant speculation.

Despite all the news the last few days, nothing has actually changed. Lauri wants to be here, and the Jazz will only trade him for a haul.

Other than Penis Cancer did we ever have a European star who didn’t love it here? AK, Okur, Gobert, and now Lauri.

It’s been hard for us to retain American talent. Unless somebody sends us the farm like the Gobert trade I think we should keep the guys who want to be here.

  5. Idk who needs to hear this but Markkanen obviously isn’t being moved.

-For one I’m seeing a lot of overlap between “Utah needs to keep any star who wants to be there” and “Utah should trade Lauri to do a true rebuild”

-Utah has 12 firsts to use in talent acquisition and Lauri believes that they’ll use them well

-Lauri likes the young guys Utah has on board

Realistically he’s staying and getting himself a new max deal here. 7ft unicorn at 26? Hell yeah there’s a star.

  6. The reports of Jazz taking calls on him is way overblown IMO. An alternative headline to what Jake Fischer & Kevin O’Connor are saying is basically “Danny Ainge is doing his job”.

Lauri is a low maintenance star player who fits like a glove on almost every team in the league. He also has a fantastic contract and is just barely starting his prime years. Teams are absolutely going to call about players like that and it would be stupid not to at least listen. If a godfather offer ever came through, you might just have to take it.

So yeah, the Jazz aren’t actively shopping him. They’re simply doing their due diligence by not hanging up the phone if someone calls asking. It’s smart business

  7. What’s the earliest we can offer him a max extension, next summer? Might as well extend him ASAP.

This kind of talk from Lauri is the EXACT thing that Donovan DIDN’T do that would have put Jazz fans at ease when his trade rumors began. I think that’s the significant difference between the two situations, and we as a fanbase have been conditioned to react due to history. Lauri telling a reporter to explicitly say he wants to be in Utah, is important.
