“But the Heat remain high on Herro, who is averaging just two fewer points per game this season than Mitchell, is four years younger and under a team-friendly deal. The Heat’s position against the second luxury tax apron will also have to be considered, especially with Mitchell in line to sign a max salary worth north of $50 million a year. With Butler and Adebayo already under contract, the Heat could owe more than $141 million combined for just those three players in 2025-26, when the salary cap is projected to come in at around $156.2 million.”

  2. Everyone and their mom can argue about whether or not it’s a good idea, but it doesn’t fucking matter because under no circumstance is cheap ass Arison going deeper into the luxury tax for someone not named Lebron or MJ.

  3. Send Herro+Martin+Jovic and 2 1st round picks for Mitchell + Rubio and everyone is happy

He’s a Net or Knick, I’m not entertaining star trade rumors again

I don’t think a trade for him is gonna happen nor should it, mostly cause given the length of Mitchell’s contract and the weight his name brings. Given how good JJJ is already, Cleveland will want him involved in the trade, and odds are a trade would be Tyler and JJJ at the bare minimum for Mitchell. I don’t think I wanna give away JJJ and Tyler combined for someone who will make us slightly better than how we are with JJJ and Tyler combined.

Now, if we’re able to just trade Tyler and picks, i’d be open to this deal – but Cleveland will want JJJ and I think he should be untouchable (for now at least)

Per 36 minutes Herro is averaging 25/5/5 and Mitchell 27/5/5. Herro has also taken a leap defensively

Then factor in the Cavs would also demand Jaime and it’s too much to give up even though Mitchell would be an upgrade.

Jazz absolutely won the trade with the Cavs which is telling. I don’t want end up in a position in two years where Jimmy has declined and we have to trade Mitchell and reset instead of having Herro and Jaime hitting their primes.

  7. After Dame, I refuse to get excited about any player until they have officially signed on the team.

He will probably come in free agency. Heat need to get another big man that can avg 15-17 ppg and 8 to 10 rebounds per game
