According to Darnell Mayberry (Bulls Athletic beat writer) it’s only a matter of time before the teams find common ground on a deal. Buha believes it would take a 3 or 4 team trade to make work, and is skeptical it happens.

The Lakers would offer DLo, salary filler (Rui/Gabe), a young player (Max/JHS), and a protected future first in a LaVine trade. They still prefer Demar and/or Caruso in a trade, but Demar wanting a lengthy extension at 35 and Caruso’s asking price being so high are problematic right now.

    “Matter of time”

    “Skeptical it happens”

So which is it? Also fuck including our first round pick. They can have our 2024 second round pick and our two 2025 second rounders but that first needs to be saved

  3. Bahamut727

I think it happens for sure. Unless DLo puts together a month long performance from now until mid January against Wolves/OKC etc

I’m not big on this trade. Lavine is being somewhat underrated here, but the contract is insane. It’d require at least one extra team because we need to send like 4 guys to make contracts work.

The deal would have to net us at least a real backup C as well imo (Drummond I guess). And if it’s a single, heavily protected 1st… whatever lol

  5. CmonTouchIt

Vincent jhs and a protected first for Caruso and paw is about all I’d accept rn. Anything else makes us worse imo

  6. Physical-Lie-345

Heat be dumb to pass up on an opportunity like this tbh.

  7. lolxddavid

We’re gonna be sending out 3-4 guys for someone who’s injured right now. Our record is 100% going to be below .500 by the time he returns

  8. AdministrativeDig845

This just sounds like the Bulls are trying to raise the asking price and the Lakers aren’t interested at all. Teams always use the Lakers for leverage but Lavine literally makes no sense for this roster. Why would we give up all of our depth for an injury prone star. We just took this team to the WCF

  9. urban_royalty

Last year the Rui, Dlo, Vanderbilt, and Malik trade came out of nowhere. No one knew what Rob was going to do or that we could even trade Westbrook. Anything that will happen will be a move that we won’t know about

  10. KingNephew

The Bulls writer saying that a trade is imminent and basically a matter of time is pretty big. I’m leaning towards this trade honestly.

    D’lo/Rui/JHS/Hayes for LaVine/Craig/Drummond

    Gabe/LaVine/Vando/LeBron/AD

    Reaves/Prince/Craig/Wood/Drummond/Reddish

I like this a lot more than what we currently have. Just don’t give up a first.

The only way this trade works is if LeBron commits to playing PG full time again. If he does, a starting lineup of LeBron, Lavine, Prince, Reddish/Vando, AD actually is fucking huge and has enough defense to compensate for Lavine, plus it has decent enough spacing

Even then I don’t like it. But it’s not unworkable

  12. DeftCoast

I know it’s not a popular take but DeMar as third guy would be an insane upgrade for this team.

  13. DavidCMaybury

Every one of these Darnell Mayberry stories drives me crazy…

Apart from my personal issues…getting the salaries to work (keeping in mind the key Lakers contracts aren’t available to trade before jan 15) is a heavy lift. I don’t think I can see it working in a way that doesn’t pillage the Lakers depth.

  14. I’m somewhat torn on this trade tbh.

I think that the concerns about Zach’s defense and effort are a bit overblown and would likely change playing with LeBron and AD; plus there’d be no starting guards that would take touches from him so he’d have all the space to operate. He provides great rim pressure, is a legit 3 level scorer, and would be a good to great third option for this team.

However I do think DLo is excellent at getting the ball to AD and still believe that utilizing him to the best of his ability on both ends is how we win a title.

I’m also bummed at having to part with Rui but understand the logic somewhat as Ham doesn’t ever play him and he makes $18M to basically play 20 minutes a game.

Injury concerns are also a factor but I believe the reason he’s not playing right now is strictly just to keep his trade value at its best as even if he strings together some great games there’s a risk of him getting hurt doing so.

I think my main concern/question is what we could get in the package with Zach and what it would cost. If we can get Drummond and Caruso and it would only cost us DLo/Rui/Gabe/JHS and some seconds I think I’d easily pull (maybe even for a protected first).

But that’s a crazy haul due to his contract value and could really hamper us for the future.

Bulls don’t want DLo they want AR. And I would do it because lavine is an all star caliber player. Hachimura or Vanderbilt has to go to match salaries.

  16. Potential-Host-6281

Best I can do is Darvin Ham + 2nd picks.

  17. Life_Ad_9518

I’ve never been a big Lavine fan per-say but I’m for this trade. Last year we didn’t have the offensive firepower to keep up with Denver in the WCF; we haven’t added any… I think we can use a 3rd dependable scorer because DLo will be inconsistent in the playoffs; and honestly Austin might be too. And AD might be too on offense… so we definitely need another really reliable scorer. we’re 20th in offense right now.

  18. BizzyHaze

I would feel a lot more comfortable trading DLO is we still had Schroeder. Dunno what went on behind the scenes, but if Rob decided to choose Gabe over Dennis if both were in play, that’s another whiff on Rob’s resume.

  19. FershureB

    Guys it’s Buha.

He doesn’t have any inside sources within the team.

  20. GutsTheSwordsman

Can Lakers just tell the Bulls to go for DLO + 1st rounder in like 2025/2029 + 2nd Rounder this year for Patrick Williams + Alex Caruso.

Lakers remove an undependable asset/inconsistent playoff performer for an already proven LeBron teammate in Caruso and they get another Cam Reddish type “diamond in the rough” in P Will.

  21. Lavine already missed 10 out of bulls 28 games. Think if Davis did the same, how many would call for murder. Now think about trading for lavine.

  22. Ok_Storage_2251

    Currently bidding against themselves.
Can’t do anything til mid January anyway

  23. Jtizzle1231

I hate when people post stuff that wants you to create a account

  24. LebronsPinkyToe

I dont believe anybody unless its Shams or Woj

  25. DJBliskOne

Only listen to Eric Pincus from Bleacher Report. Buha knows nothing.

  26. 1nTheNick0fTime

Just don’t trade AR please. Just put up a billboard of him by my house that would be depressing to watch them take it down

  27. So basically monitor the roster this upcoming weeks and if the right price is there then a trade that may include another team. The Lakers also says according to Buha is taking on Lavine’s contract is doing the Bulls a favor which is the right approach.

Dlo and Rui the central piece and Reaves is almost untouchable. Also the Lakers rather have Derozan and Caruzo. Caruso have a high value and Mayberry says that Bulls will not be thrilled with the Lakers’ return for Lavine but also says the Bulls don’t really have many choices.

Well if this is true the Lakers is being smart about it which I like.

  28. Wise_Ad_112

Lakers may not leak things but no one said the bulls don’t. They are trying to get as much as possible

  29. bobbdac7894

Please not Reaves. You can tell he loves being a Laker and he’s talented. That’s important
