Our record is creeping down closer to .500 which is probably more representative of this team( I think they win around 45 this season). That’s still great progress. I think a lot of ppl’s expectations became unrealistic after the win streak. This team is still young and figuring things out. But if you can’t see how far this team and rebuild has come from a few years ago idk what to tell you, there’s so much to look forward to

  2. If we don’t see Chuma taking Gary’s bench minutes next game then Mose should be fired for being an idiot

  3. evenyetodd

Until we get shooters, this is just who we are right now. Future is still very bright but everyone has a lot of work to do.

  4. treadwater23

Fake comeback to make it look close.

    Liked Cole’s effort and energy.

    Starters were mostly all ass.

Can’t win many games being this bad at shooting.

Can’t win many games with your #1 and #2 struggling badly.

  5. FluxDerivative

great job christening the new KIA center with a fat L :/

I feel like their main weakness is shooting threes. When a team gets a run of threes, they can’t do anything to respond. I don’t know if that run of threes from Miami is something we need to worry about consistently, but it seems like teams have found out how to beat us, by shooting threes.

  7. Fit-Structure-9395

Trade Kelle and WCJ it’s like having 2 Ben Simmons contracts(just cheaper) sitting on the bench clapping and smiling stealing money

  8. maursupial

This game was a wash, but I’m glad chuma Okeke has turned into a positive asset instead of the negative one he was projected to be by the media

I’m gonna chalk this up to this weird post In-Season schedule where they’re playing once every four nights. It just takes teams (especially young ones) out of rhythm. It’s similar to great teams in the playoffs that sweep a series and wait too long for their next appointment and end up losing Game 1 to a team that finished a 7 game series two games prior. I honestly think we’re flat because we’re out of rhythm. Hopefully as the schedule ramps up again they can find it.

  10. Gary Harris steals the ball and gets a 2 on 1 and pulls up for a 3 misses it and the lone Heat player got the rebound. That was this game in a nutshell. The Magic players have basketball IQs of 79. They get turnovers and rebounds then take bad shots. They gave us the paint and we just stopped taking it and tried to match them on threes which we did for two games in Boston. Not good.

We desperately need someone like Trae Young. Black has no business starting on this team right now.

  12. treadwater23

Such are the ebbs and flows of having a team’s best players be 21 and 22 year olds. Our three point shooting from our actual shooters has to get better or we will need to trade for some.

Our idealized/best version of this team has a #3 at PG that can be a #2/#1 option when they struggle, even a McCollum level guy, but we don’t have that yet.. otherwise we need a lot to go right.

  13. Harris, Bitatdze and Fultz have to be on the trading block to get SOMEONE who can shoot the 3 reliably.
Franz is in a shooting slump, but I believe he’ll come back from it. As a young guy it can’t always be going upwards.
Getting WCJ back is good, now we gotta work him back into the team again though.

I think a lot of people here have to lower their expectations. This team has been at the bottom for a while, it takes time to build a winning culture, especially with all of our main guys being so young. Give them time, let them find themselves and as long as we’ll make the playoffs this year I’m cool. There are steps to success. Can’t just walk straight into a conference final.

  14. SonicNarcotic

Didn’t get to watch the game live, but looking at the stats it looks like we lost it bricking 3s..?

Hard to take against MIA, hopefully Fultz and Jingles aren’t too far away to help us get us going again…

  15. Comfortable_One7716

Much needed humbling for this team. Still think we’re better off without Fultz and WCJ?

So many things went wrong this game, and honestly it all starts with Mosley. I was turning around to supporting him recently but him putting Wendell directly back into the SL showed me he really just isn’t a coach. Alot of you will say I am being needlessly negative on a random loss, but these are problems I have seen for his entire tenure. I truly think he is a terrible coach in almost every single area except maybe player entitlement and support (well he is just being biased to his favorites).

Mosley has a history of ignoring clear stats and eye test positive indicators, and its causing the Magic to lose games. Stop saying this team was tanking, the players clearly want to win but are losing because of terrible lineups. Mosley has no idea how to adjust lineups, no idea how manage assets, and honestly to me is just plugging in players on the basis on if he likes them.

There is honestly little to no areas that was in favor for BB being in the SL. I remember calling it from his first session during preseason that BB doesn’t fit. The team and FO started to do all types of propaganda for BB and I knew he was starting when the season officially begins and lo and behold, BB was a starter and that meant the season was over. Mosley kept that experiment going for half the season, and to me it ruined a historic rookie season for Paolo, caused more injuries since BB was not guarding anybody half the time and players were diving and being risky to guard multiple. If any of you have the time, go back and watch some of those games, pay attention to BB missed assignments and how the team had to recover and do some risky attempts for blocks and fall hard cause the guy was clueless at points. He had negative stats in every important area except perimeter defense and rim finishing. Mosley kept that going for more than half the season, essentially proving that we didn’t want to win.

And I honestly have been saying this as soon as all the rumors come out that the last starting spot is up for grabs but Wendell was going to be a full time 5, that Wendell is not a center. I honestly dont know how you guys dont see it, but the guy is not a center. He really just isn’t. He isn’t a great help defender, he isnt a great rebounder, isnt a great rim protector or rim deterrent, his best asset defensively is that he is a dominant post defender and big man stopper, he is huge and strong and can move decently well laterally, literally best used as a PF. Wendell to me was a top 8 PF 2 years ago when he was a full time 4 and Mo was the 5. They literally had some of the best duo big man numbers. One top 5 shooting Center by percentage (wished he had higher volume), the other top 5 defensive PF (literally was locking every single elite center in the league). They worked great together, Dell would lock the Embiids, Jokics, etc. and Mo would cause havoc protecting the rim and making it easier for guards to grab rebounds. Wendell is not a center. Goga is a center and a better fit. Goga 6 rebounds 12 mins, Wendell 6 rebounds 23 mins. Mosley is messing up again for favoritism. Its not even just rebounds, its just how the game is played. Goga is a reliable paint defender that the players usually trust on the help, watching this game, many times the players are trying their best to help Wendell inside and playing more rim focused instead of protecting the perimeter. This is not exactly how they did it before, before Goga was left to help, and the players switched often but never left their guys to help protect rim unless they saw a block. Perimeter was still an area of focus and protecting the rim was more left to Goga and maybe 1 helper. So many times we saw Goga vs 2/3 and still getting the tip or rebounding or allowing his team a second chance by keeping the ball in play. Its night and day between them.

I understand, its not good optics to lose your spot due to injuries but seriously Wendell isnt the fit next to Paolo and Franz. I think the best lineup going forward is Fultz Suggs Franz Paolo Goga. Still shooting problems, but Markelle playmaking and mid range shooting will be so helpful, plus his PNR dominance will unlock the 3 bigs for easy baskets. Personally I believe this team should go big for a trade and see what they can get for Wendell, Markelle, Gary, and Chum. I think Lavine fits, somebody mentioned Anfernee (who fits also but I personally think Lavine fits better if healthy). Lavine fast pace, athleticism, go-to ability, and shooting off the dribble, will help. Alot of us hate seeing trades, I understand that also since I was high on the Vuc/AG group and didnt want the team to trade just draft around the core and stop giving Khem minutes and let Mo get unleashed but I think we all can see it, this team is on the cusps of a breakout. Time to go for something big. Time to bring in a star and invest towards winning.

AB fits, Goga fits, Cole fits, Joe fits (I was wrong about him the guy is carrying the bench). AB and Goga deserve minutes. Mosley is trying to force guys that aren’t working to work, and styles that didnt ever bring wins to bring wins. We started winning with AB and Goga and that is for a reason. Stop acting like Franz and Paolo just woke up. Nah they had players that complement them finally. Wendell and Paolo are similar players, Wendell was top 5 Post defender last season, Paolo was top 8-10, Paolo clearly is a bit more offensive orientated and Dell I guess we can say more defensive orientated but they are similar styles, mold, and physiques. Its just not necessary. Goga is the better compliment, a true center like Mo Bamba was fitting better and there are stats that prove that last season when they played together.

Please dont think this is a hate Wendell post, since Franz was terrible for many games now, Paolo terrible this game or just not really impactful, but I do believe Mosley is messing up working systems again. I believe the SL 2 seasons ago was working and the bench was terrible, there were impact stats that supported it at the time, Cole Suggs Franz Dell Mo Bamba were not terrible, just Cole was a chucker but ok offensively and bad defensively, Suggs was a chucker but bad offensively and elite defensively, Franz did not really have that great of a shot and was passive, Dell and Mo was bright spot combo. Mosley ruined that for no reason. I called that Cole needed to be changed since he is too ball dominant. I also called that Suggs needs to continue being a starter as he will grow into a capable offensive player. To Mosley credit the SL last season towards the end with Gary was top 5 at some points and Cole+Suggs bench looked reliable but I just still believe that Suggs is not a problem and he is a trustworthy PG/starting guard.

I fully believe this teams needs to start solidifying their lineups, and figure out the core. For me its Suggs, Franz, Paolo, Cole, and AB. Goga is also a great fit but he can be upgraded. The rest to me can be traded. I am for keeping Markelle longterm if no trade is found, and Wendell needs to find a role off the bench. I truly think its time to make a trade. This team with Suggs, Lavine/Anf, Franz, Paolo, Goga with Cole, Joe/Caleb, JI/AB, Moe works. Assuming we need to trade both Markelle and Wendell. If one of them can be kept the team just adds them into the spot. JI and Joe arent going to always play as they need rest and management, and AB can easily fit in during those times. I think this team has the right pieces to go big for something right now as I also feel that they have too many pieces that deserve minutes and are making it hard to have a coherent offense if things are switching all the time.

  17. Blading_at_45

I love how everyone thinks we can trade Fultz with a bad knee and WCJ for a top scorer. It’s not going to happen. Unless you trade someone from the core, which won’t happen, you aren’t getting a Trae Young of Keegan Bradley.

  18. raphael87

I’ll try to look at the positives here…
    – Franz did some good work on the boards
    – Chuma looked good in his limited time.
    – Cole shot the ball well

These three games have reminded me that we are a very young team. Ingles would have been huge tonight I think. Guys get flustered when shots aren’t falling and opponents are hitting threes. I think Jeff nailed it when he said we are settling too much lately and need to aim for more paint touches and feet set threes. Miami got to the free throw line more than us (I know we fouled a bit at the end), which is not acceptable given our personnel.

  19. SpideyUdaman

I was looking at the live scores. I’m assuming it was a gritty start but what happened at the end of 2nd quarter? I like that the arena isn’t amway anymore though.

  20. Effective_Owl_17

We need to field legit in position guards, black doesn’t need to be out there til he can do more than corner sit, especially because he’s not clamping anyone. Suggs too out of control, kelle is really our only hope

  21. padrejohnmisery

We’ve looked great the last three games …

  22. ThatBlackFeller

This was supposed to be a classic night matchup with our stars n stripes jersey. We didn’t wear them and that’s why we lost

Concrete logic. Go Magic, heat fans are the worst

  23. itssexitime

Spoelstra simply did what every team knows to do and will do in the playoffs – take away Franz and Paolo on offense make the rest of the guys beat you. We don’t have a 3rd guy who can win games so it’s a sound strategy.
