Why Knicks should NOT trade for Donovan Mitchell with Cavaliers | Hoops Tonight

Jason Timpf discusses the recent play from Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks after their dominant win over the Brooklyn Nets. Jason explains how Donovan Mitchell trade rumors are circulating, and how it would be a MISTAKE for the Knicks to expend their trade assets to acquire Mitchell. Jalen Brunson is becoming a star in the league, and getting Donovan Mitchell would not help the outcome of the Knicks.

  1. Two small (fairly) ball dominant guards? Kinda sounds like what Cleveland is doing now, and it isn't going great.

  2. Great explanation on team building. What the Knicks need. Let's see if they can do it because historically NY Knicks are not a patient team.

  3. Jalen is clearly the most underrated player his stats and record are amazing. Give that to an other player and they are in MVP category 🤦🏾‍♂️

  4. That exact Knicks lineup with a wing is the vision,I think Mitch will be reevaluated before the season is done but I agree 100% Mitchell didn’t fit the team anymore after we found Brunson

  5. logical decisions aren't the knicks organization's forte. pretty sure they're not thinkin about things like fit & chemistry

  6. I respectfully disagree. Barrett and Randle have to go, especially Randle. Keep everyone else. Lauri, Pascal, or Jerami are the realistic replacements that could help us.

  7. Play the waiting game with Cleveland Cavaliers. Until the Cavaliers have folded and taken the NY Knicks cheaper trade offer to Donovan Mitchel. Mr Leon Rose wanted.

  8. Whoa the Gibson shirt! Mailbag: what’s your favorite neck type to play?(roasted maple, lacquered etc…) OR a basketball question. I’m a Thibbs defender but my one gripe with him is that we don’t exploit Mitch’s vehicle spacing. Why do you think that is?

  9. This is a 100% correct take. Your analysis is basically on point with my thinking as a Knicks fan

The guy they need at the wing is Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, or Brandon Ingram

Problem is whether these guys will be available soon

  10. DM would fit extremely well with the Knicks. He’s exactly the type of player they need. You make Randle a 3rd option and that’s a real contender. They just need a guy like OG from Toronto to balance us defensively on the wing. This DM too small and too ball dominant next to Brunson narrative is blasphemy.

  11. The perfect player for this team would be Kawhi. Ik that is unlikely so the next best realistic option would be Mikal Bridges, a lineup of;
    Brunson
    Barrett
    Bridges
    Randle
    Robinson or Hartenstein

    That’s a tough out.

  12. Jason is one of the smartest nba analysts out. He doesn’t just say stuff for clicks and he actually knows the game, not just big names.
