How The LA Clippers 9 Game Winning Streak Came To An End

The LA Clippers winning streak was snapped at nine on Thursday night in the second half of a back to back. They would be without Kawhi Leonard for the first time this season. Paul George however, returned from his illness.

It wouldn’t matter as the young Thunder took over the 3rd quarter, out scoring the Los Angeles Clippers 45-33. They’d go on to win it 134-115 and Ty Lue waived the white flag early.

In this episode, die hard LA clippers fan and Host Darian Vaziri talks about what went wrong and what made it so hard to defend OKC. He also looks at the performances of the stars and the struggles of Terance Mann.

  1. I am happy with how hard we played to be in the game, apart from some moments where for example PG13 just refused to close out on a shooter. OKC presented a lot of challenges with their rim protection and terrence mann struggling just allowed them to clog the paint even more

  2. When the game started i think we all could see that everyone was exausted😢 and playing the second youngest team in the NBA that didnt play for 2 days..

  3. Mann shot just 21% from three in the first 16 games of last year. But he finished the season shooting 39% from three. He’s always been a slow starter with his shot. I think he’ll eventually come around.

I don’t think he’s struggling with shooting mechanics. I think Mann is just trying to figure out when to get aggressive without taking away good shot opportunities from the other starters. Once he figures out the timing of his shot attempts, his offense and confidence will take off.

  4. man i only watched the first half last night but it was an extremely disappointing game for everyone imo except for russ and norm a little bit. horrible defence, shooting and effort overall. really thought PG was supposed to cook last night having the extra rest but he just didn’t lol

  5. Terrence is marking the best player every night which is mostly an all star or future 27:33 hall of famer can’t expect him to be at his best. Cheers for the hard work dude let’s beat boston

  6. I didn't expect Clipper to win this game . Thunders has 3 day rest and they are young , we played b2b and Kawhi didn't play , according to the rumor ,I hope Thunders won't get Lauri Markkanen ,otherwise Chet . SGA ,Markkanen are going to be tough to beat

  7. The Clippers have looked like a team starting to mesh and deliver good results, though this game was not a great example. Can someone explain what the deal is with Terance Mann? Mann has not improved markedly in the years he's been with the Clippers and remains an underachiever with talent that isn't showing up with real productivity. He might have a good game and then follow that with three or four games where he scores almost nothing and his stats don't show any big contribution. Is he still there because his "intangibles" are so great? Playing defense? Wow. It seems like half the time when he's being "aggressive," it means rushing down the court with the ball after the Clippers have secured a defensive rebound, driving to the basket and missing a shot at the rim as he falls out of bounds. The guy hasn't lived up to his potential. Meanwhile, the player the Clippers traded away–Shai G-A–has become a superstar for OKC.

  8. This is where we needed pj Tucker to start he would give Chet a tough time I think we should’ve definitely started pj if we gonna run small

  9. This game made me more nervous, over the Boston game on Saturday. Young, quick and scrappy team, with lots to prove. Glad to see BB Jr. finally.

  10. I just hope he ok he deserved a day off the way he been playing I really want him to play against Boston that a be a good test for us

  11. It's not excuse when it's a fact that they already tired and no Kawhi for this one.
Any streaks are meant to end. The longer it takes the longer they feel the pressure to keep the streak going. What is important is they've gotten their stride already and we'll see the Thunder again.

  12. I think Kawhi could’ve played. That injury was not a sit out for a game injury. He could’ve played and the streak could’ve continued. We could’ve beaten OKC, beat Boston and then rest against the Hornets. We can beat the Hornets without Kawhi. So Kawhi could’ve rested from 12/24 till 12/29 and play Memphis. 6 days of rest and the streak could’ve continued till then.

Our defense was crap yesterday and we definitely missed Kawhis defense and efficient offense.

  13. Again like i say every game, where is T Mann! Can we start holding him accountable, I'm sick of fans making excuses for him bc that won't make him better or change

  14. Very difficult to beat a team that just had one of those nights. They shot lights out. Happy for how the team initially fought back and took the lead. They collapsed after but I still think clippers did well considering the draining game the previous game and they had a few days rest. I still expect to handle Boston without a problem as Harden loves playing them

  15. I keep telling anyone that will listen, Paul George is not someone a team can trust to carry them, of all the games Clippers play, OKC should.be the one circled for him, why? Because everyone and their mother is saying the trade was bad and SGA is better way better than him, but as usual he is mediocre and that’s fine, he is a self admitted #2. Now to the main issue that I continue to talk about and we are going to talk about it, Terence Mann. At what point does Clippers fan admit this man isn’t good? At what point? He has reached his peak, this is who he is, he isn’t getting any better than what he is now. Look at Giannis and Kawhi for example, both came in the league as average players, they worked on their game and by 27 they were studs. T-Mann needs to be packaged with Tucker and clippers need to get a big 6’9-10 power forward. Time to move on from Mann, it’s not about losing that game, at some point streaks end, it’s the fact that Mann is useless and when he’s on the floor it’s 4 vs 5 on offense and his defense isn’t good enough to make up for anything, dude can’t even rebound. Get rid of Mann while the team can and cut the excuses, he’s not good and never was.

  16. Like I love my team but that 3rd quarter was so crazy they where some good stops but they couldn't hold on to tha ball missing alot offense rebound it's was just crazy….. I didn't even finish tha game…… but I know PG is going be in his feelings and we really don't need tht…. I thought it would be like if we lose KL we good cause we got PG but it wasn't….. but it's was fun while it lasted….. it's just one game we can start another one…. Let's go clips

  17. To loose one game after winning 9 straight games, that's amazing. Lakers would like to be in clippers shoes. 😅 Just make sure you makes the playoffs ya.

  18. terence mann is tradeable. He is super replaceable. You can find a younger version of him with a higher ceiling in the next draft. He just isnt that good. When it comes to winning championships, he's not even a good bench piece to have. There is a reason why he was drafted at the end, played all 4 years in college, and is on a very cheap affordable deal. Those players are tradeable.

  19. TRADE;
    PG
    MANN
PG is a over dribbling/shooting bozo.. He can’t be trusted, he doesn’t make plays for others, his IQ is LOW!
Mann can’t shoot, can’t put the ball on the floor, has 0 bag.. all he does is cut to the basket, he’s a recipient of open looks from Stars..
Mann always been average at best, I’ve told this to Clippers fans for years now & everyone tried to deny it now look lmao..
He never improved and never will get him & those weak ass braids TF outta here.

  20. •I knew OKC had the W
•Terrance Mann is a a issue, what does he do ????
•Beat the Celtics please !!!! Our Christmas day game, needed break after.

  21. Bruh, this was one of those podcast that I just had to stop listening a 3rd of the way through.

Dude what game were you watching yesterday? Mann, Zu, Westbrook were all absolutely atrocious as that seems to be your favorite word for the day.

Bruh Mann couldn't hit one damn shot and he didn't until the 4th quarter when Tye emptied the bench; and you started the podcast off with James and PG were atrocious?

Did you see Westbrook and Zu play at all yesterday? Westbrook was beyond atrocious with his momentum killing turnovers. Bruh did you see that, did you see Zu lost like a damn baby deer without its Mom out there, to the point where he had to be benched?

Did you not notice that James busted his ass in Dallas the night before and still was one of the best players last night? Nevermind PG coming back after being sick starting slow and finishing strong. Dude just got back bruh atrocious is way way over the top when describing his play in the first.

Bruh you lose me when you go over the top while neglecting to address the atrocious play of the damn supporting cast like Mann, Zu, and Westbrook. Bruh what game were you watching????

  22. I don't mind the loss. But I think we played some bad basketball vs the Mavs and the Thunder. Lot of iso and bad off ball movement. Got away with it vs the Mavs, but it still wasn't pretty. The loss itself isn't a big deal, but the way they've played in the past 2 games have is a big deal to me. Need to regain our ball movement.

  23. I had questions during the 1st half:
It was a back to back, so why not play Bones and Kobe early?
    Why did Theis barely play??
    What's wrong with Mann??
I like Coffey but should he have started last night over another proven shooter like Powell?
I know we can't win them all but at least try!! 😤

  24. When kawhi wasn’t playing I knew we wasn’t gone win, for some reason he doesn’t play everybody else gives a half ass effort on the defensive end.. I don’t mind the loss but taking plays off on the defensive end is a bad habit

  25. I would’ve liked to see bones and DT earlier but I understand why not

I thought the defensive intensity was horrid and they got every 50/50 ball

Russ was good but too many turnovers bc trying to force bounce passes

With that said it’s 1 loss lol

  26. We should’ve won that game you know why we lost because you keep starting Terrence man Terrence Mann is not a scorer and Russell Westbrook one thing I’ve noticed he plays no fucking defense

  27. Thunder are a good team but we're winning that game with Kawhi especially after taking the lead. The most underrated part of Kawhi's game, he's able to stop another team's momentum. Thunder don't make that run afterwards if he plays.

  28. All I want for Christmas is for the Clippers to be healthy so they can compete in the playoffs and ultimately the finals.

  29. Reality check. I love this game lost to the thunder. Now Clippers have a chance to examine their works. One step closer to the championship, Clippers.

  30. Darian, we rarely agree, but we all appreciate you and what you are doing. As someone that knows one of the players on the Clippers, because I sold them a home that my company build for them, I can tell you, Clipper players are watching you and they appreciate you and if I told you who, you would just start laughing, I’m pretty sure you know who it is. Keep up the good work, we appreciate you bro.

  31. The defense was horrible! Clippers not closing out on shooters. It wasnt just paul george. Lack of keeping hands up on the shooters. It was just lack of effort. Clippers never fully got a rythm going either offensively. We just need to beat Boston!

  32. It was a winnable game but I had a feeling it wasn't gonna be our night! Back to back no kawi kinda self explanatory! No problem kawi sitting out gotta take care of him when necessary! Like u said Dime get ready for Boston beat them & forget about the thunder loss!
