Former Piston, Nerlens Noel blames this on the coaching and front office

He wasn’t coached by Monty, but it is extremely clear that the coaching has gotten much worse.

Keep it coming. It’s obvious that neither Casey or Monty go through to these guys defensively…I’m surprised to hear Casey was spearheading bad defence as that was what he was based in. I can tell you right now that the defence looks like ass at all levels from positioning, swinging, effort…Bad from top to bottom.

Oh you mean all teams don’t switch everything and getting by a basic PnR all game?

They’re running the same defensive scheme as last year, switch everything.

IMO that is bad habits because it hurts guys on both sides of the defensive spectrum. Good defensive players like Ausar can’t zero in on the key offensive player, while someone like Ivey will get constantly switched on the key offensive guy to get picked on.

At some point you got to think hey let’s try something different. Hell whenever we go on a run, the other team switches to zone and our offense goes into the tank.

I liked the Monty hiring, but you can lose this many games without pointing a finger at the guy coaching.

  4. I have had a feeling since last year that our development coaches are bad. Everyone is getting better, and our players either get injured or stay the same. We should invest more in development. We did see a slight improvement in some games, but I will not credit the coaches for it.

When are we actually going to see reports that something is changing?

Everyone knows it’s the front office and coaching fault. Our players can’t even have average games or we get blew out.
