[Katz] Tom Thibodeau says the Knicks are not changing their timetable on Mitchell Robinson. Said he will be re-evaluated in 8-to-10 weeks. Said when asked about the Knicks applying for the DPE, “That’s a Leon question.” Leon Rose, of course, hasn’t taken questions in a long time

I looked up the Exception and found some interesting details in an [article](https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2022/11/hoops-rumors-glossary-disabled-player-exception-2.html)

“In order for the exception to be granted, an NBA-designated physician must determine that the player is “substantially more likely than not” to be sidelined through at least June 15 of that league year….

…In the event that a team is granted a disabled player exception, uses it to acquire a player, and then has its injured player return ahead of schedule (ie. before the end of the season), the team is allowed to carry both players.”

So if the NBA physician says ‘Mitch probably isn’t coming back’ we can get the exception even if he does come back later. The team also has to apply before Jan 15th and use the exception by March 30th.

All in all the Knicks probably don’t know when exactly Mitch will be back but want to mitigate the situation as much as possible using all the tools they have available.
