Why do you guys think Mann is struggling so much offensively? Is it a confidence thing, or does it have something to do with the new personnel & his role?

He’s been a key defender in the starting lineup and his value goes without saying, he’s needed on this squad for his versatility but I cannot help but notice how sometimes during certain stretches of games this season he’s a complete negative on the offensive side of the floor and a lot of times he isn’t even looking at the rim while he has the ball in his hands. His current shooting splits compared to last season are night and day. Every single efficiency metric is down significantly. I really do hope he finds his stride. To be fair to him, his usage percentage (12.0) is currently the lowest of his career but it’s still hard to ignore these numbers.

This season: .420% FG, .234% 3PT, .682% FT, .475% EFG, .494% TS

Last season: .519% FG, .389% 3PT, .780% FT, .598 EFG, .619% TS

He used to run the offense in his minutes. Now he doesn’t.

It’s confidence. You can see as soon as he gets passed the ball outside the arc he looks to pass first. He used to shoot those 3s

Mental, always in passive mode. Whenever he touches the ball he’s looking around for someone to bail him out

Every starter has struggled when Harden first came to the team. Kawhi was struggling to the extent that people were calling him washed up in this sub. But Kawhi has been killing it lately. The Harden-Zu combo looked rough at first and people were saying Zu can’t do PnR. But now their chemistry looks better and Harden himself looks more comfortable.

I do think PG & Harden are still getting used to each other. We saw the chemistry issues against OKC. But their chemistry will look better in time. Mann is the fifth scoring option in the starting 5. I think he’ll be the last starter to get it going.

There’s less ball movement than last year. When it comes to total team passes made, Clippers are dead last rn. Mann will have to find a way to keep his rhythm within this new style of offense but I think he’ll eventually find his way. He has started for just 18 games which isn’t even a quarter of a season. Clippers are 14-4 in those games.

Mann has developed what Kennard developed just before we traded him. It is definitely a hesitancy and feels like a slip in confidence; however, it’s hard to know why. This all reminds me of the Kennard situation.
