  1. Do you have anybody that is in the press that can ask the coach questions? I'd like to know about their receiver recruiting struggles.

  2. Had my eyes on Connor the whole time. My takeaway is he just looks tight and you can tell he’s thinking a lot probably worried he’s gunna get pulled at any moment. The kid needs to play to loosen up but Gard ruined that. I understand the leash but I hate it at the same point.

  3. JB… when your Tigers don’t even make the tourney this year your thoughts on the recruiting classes are null and void.

  4. @ryan when Storr had the fast break and missed the layup is the lack of explosion I think your thinking of. Yes, I agree. Iverson would have been able to touch the top of the board with two dudes hanging on him on that play.

  5. The big ten tournament has never meant anything. The big ten regular season matters far more.

  6. If everything remains the same, but they shoot and make baskets, they’ll win and win and go to the tournament and advance. What’s missing is the shooting and making of baskets. It’s like the only program that dissects everything the team does except shooting and the making of shots. It’s like, oh, do they have this position filled or that position filled, do they get their mandatory 4-7 passes in every possession, are they fouling too much or not getting to the line etc etc etc, but, the most important thing – shooting and making shots – never seems prioritized. It’s basketball. The idea is, you shoot the ball into the basket more than your opponent. That’s the whole point. But if you don’t emphasize or allow it, it’s hard to win. What happened to the Ryan/Gard high scoring teams of US Platteville? They got to Madison and forgot about scoring.

  7. There is a big difference IMO in getting to the Elite 8 vs Sweet 16. If my choice is winning the regular season Big Ten championship or getting to the Elite 8 I will take getting to the Elite 8. That means you are playing one game for a chance to get in the final four. That is huge to me and outweighs winning the regular season Big Ten championship. The Big Ten post season tournament means nothing to me. However if my choice is winning the regular season Big Ten Championship or getting to the Sweet 16 I am going to take winning the regular season Big Ten championship. That said I think everyone would agree that a team that wins the Big Ten Championship but doesn't even advance to the Sweet 16 would be a major disappointment.

I think our program goals realistically should be to make the NCAA tournament (we basically have done that for 20 plus years) and when we get there make it to the sweet 16 consistently and anything past that is a bonus. Those great Bo Ryan teams happen every so often. I think that is the best we realistically can hope for. I am with JB on the part of his argument that failure to make the sweet 16 more consistently and I emphasize the word consistently under Gard is a sore spot for me too.

  8. WR recruiting in the 2024 class is a failure. They needed to bring in a slot and an outside receiver. Still hoping they can find an outside guy in the portal but I didn't see much left in the portal. Someone in the current WR room that has not played is going to have to step up.

  9. There is no doubt that for better or worse that TVD is going to take his shots down the field where as Tanner for whatever reason just would not pull the trigger.

  10. Storr is exciting. Wahl is much improved. Klesmit is an elite level defender. Crowl needs to be stronger. Crowl gets moved out of the way much too easily.
