[Simmons] The Knicks are in a weird spot post-Robinson injury. They don’t have enough size to beat Boston/Milwaukee/Philly in a series but they don’t have enough firepower to make them sweat, either. I’m not sure what the moves are. Feels like it’s 2 moves not one.

I hate Simmons but he’s 100% correct and been saying this in the threads. Rose and crew must do something, because as is, it’s really just wasting time.

trading for lauri is the move. give ainge what he wants.. the mvp caliber guy the fo was waiting for is never happening

  2. Front office really shot themselves in the foot by not getting us a serviceable small forward and backup four to play behind Randle.

Nothing has changed. We’ve been known this even with Mitch. I would let it play out for the season and see what’s available in the off-season

  4. ghostbagel_

We’re the 5th best team with or without Mitch, so I don’t really understand the problem except that it looks uglier. We weren’t beating those teams anyway.

  5. Joetheshow1

We’re posting Bill Simmons here now? This sub is unreal

  6. jjazznola

Not a lot has really changed. Even with Mitch The Knicks are not going to beat any of those 3 teams.

  7. Trade for Drummond to backup I Hart and then add Bojan from Detroit by trading Fournier and a pick. Those two moves won’t drastically change the teams fortunes but they make the team more competitive this season and don’t impact the ability to make a bigger move down the line.

Ehh I still think we can beat Philly with Brunson and Randle playing at a high level at the same time.

  9. QUINNFLORE

Maybe wishful thinking, but @mods can we ban posts from Simmons in the future on this sub?

The guy is not a serious journalist when it comes to the Knicks. He practically invented Knicks for clicks and just riles us up for the hell of it. Tired of seeing his name on my feed

    We need Lauri & Olynyk

Lauri would be a game changer for us.

    We need size and shooting.

    RJ sucks

  11. datatadata

With or without Mitch, we weren’t going to beat the Bucks/Celtics in a 7 game series

  12. I-Like-The-Tuna-Here

We are at the cross roads where we are still playing relatively well and its working because we have a couple good players and are well coached, but the FO is scared to make any type of move that would even be a little risky for long/short term gain.

Expect another season of just watching the Front Office coast on the one good decision they made during the tenure of signing Brunson.

We literally ran it back with the same team as last year. We were a surprise second round exit, and with a healthy Mitch and the right 1st round matchup (hopefully Orlando or Cleveland) the Knicks will go home in the 2nd round again. That is the current situation until this team trades for a star. Everyone knows this, so Im not sure why there has been so much discourse about this topic recently.

  14. theamanx8

Quick let’s praise the FO for “being patient”

  15. KerryKl01

I don’t know how to break this to everyone but the Knicks were never really going to win it all this season anyway. Especially against the bucks/Celtics superteams.

  16. Mitch wasn’t helping against the bucks or Celtics. Philly there is an argument. What’s the point? Monitor the deadline for a big piece not named Donovan Mitchell or stay the course.

  17. Let iHart shoot 3 ffs. Give him 15-20 games with 3-4 3PA and see what his percentage is. He can shoot 3 if he has green light. Let’s spread the floor Thibs you have nothing to lose. These 3-4 3PA a game won’t hurt much. If it’s working it will open the paint.

  18. darkerside

Please don’t let a Boston fan dictate false urgency to our young and talented team. Time is with us, not against.

  19. Sadly I feel this FO may just do zero and ride with ihart and taj/sims

  20. 22pabloesco22

We ain’t got juice for the top teams even with Mitch.

  21. Think this year is more about showing what we can do to entice Donovan Mitchell next year. I don’t think he’ll resign with the Cavs and I truly believe he wants to be a Knick. If we sign him, we’ll probably trade RJ or Randle for another star or better role players that will fit with him and Brunson

  22. People always say what more does Brunson have to do to show that he can be the #1 option

I’m here to say what else does Hartenstein have to do to show he’s a starting caliber center? Guy grabbed 13 boards against Brook and Giannis including 7 on the offensive glass and people still go like “Mitch is out what do now???” Clearly missing Mitch hurts but are people going to pretend he put a stopper on Brook or Giannis? Maybe the Bucks are just a damn good team.

  23. chowbox617

We weren’t going to bear those teams anyway and sadly there isn’t a deal out there that closes that gap much

  24. dBlock845

Anyone has a chance to beat Philly in a 7 game series. Volatile playoff team.
