Elite second option and multiple top notch role players.
Give 2002-03 Paul Pierce that roster and they probably win the whole thing.

Paul George, Embiid, DRose, Steve Nash, Melo, VC, Dominique, never sniffed a single NBA finals air in their careers. JT did it in his 5th season and he’s only 19!

its worse this year bc his stats lessened due to having a very low superstar usage so he doesnβt have inflated stats but itβs very few better playoff performers than him
Forward-Form9321
Had the role players played better in 2018 against the Cavs, I think we wouldβve given the Warriors a better series than the Cavs did.

Well…
Going forward… No excuses about age, prime, support players, coach, GM…
He’s at the age some y’all consider his peak, his prime…
He’s had every support player he wanted and coach appeased by the GM… Who by the way, drafted him and coached him…
Some y’all single out points scored and individual accolades as if they are the measurements for team success and champions…
Let me look up how many team trophies or banners are hanging in the rafters for second place, points awards, shoe sales, ruffles chips sales and Subway sandwich sales…
I’m still looking…

I love JT but heβs clear not in that Tier S right now. If you replaced him with Jokic, Giannis, Embiid, Luka, and shiit even Bron, Celtics cruise to a championship

No because he shriveled up like my dick and balls in an ice bath. He got real small in the moment. Itβs not that he lost but how he lost. Superstars are supposed to shine no matter what especially in the big moments.

Literally the MJ and Lebron arc

Most of the people to win it young are from Boston, and you say this like jayson has had an amazing cast. Over and over. If he played well who cares but he gets the credit for the win when he shoots 6-24

Tatums been plagued with 2 things that are positives that go against him. He’s had playoff success at an incredibly young age since entering the league at 19, and he’s incredible at every aspect of the game instead of just being dominant in one area.

Ah yes the dynasty that immediately fell apart the next season and the Celtics were pretty heavy favorites to win it all up 2-1

High standards are set for players w high potential. Thatβs how they becomes hofs

I don’t say he’s not a superstar because he lost a Finals
I say he’s not a superstar because he doesn’t have a single go-to move that he can rely on to get a bucket in crunch time. There is no offensive move or type of shot that Jayson Tatum is great at. Just a bunch of shots that he is “high volume” at. But with five minutes left in a crucial playoff game, high volume goes out the window. You need someone who can create a 50% shot for himself. What is that 50% shot for Tatum? He doesn’t have one. Until he develops an actual go-to move, he’s gonna keep falling short.
And that’s not hating, that’s me wanting the Celtics to win a championship.

In the end, heβs not a superstar until he wins a world championship title.

Remember when LeBron lost to a dynasty in his first Finals appearance??? What a shitty basketball career he had
ghostreverie05
Not to mention that Warriors team basically cruised through the playoffs that year. They were on a mission. Also 0 players on that Celtics team had any prior finals experience too whereas the Warriors had been to 5 finals before and won 3 of them. I was still disappointed it ended the way it did but it wasn’t totally unexpected

Letβs be honest here- a dynasty yes but a dynasty with obvious signs of decay. Wasnβt the 1st, 2nd or 3rd best iteration of that team. If you want to be held up among the top talents then the expectations are top end achievements.

reminder, mj didn’t win a title until he was 28
Tatum also had a very good roster though.
