Starting to feel the same way. RJ is my guy but the poor defense and inconsistent shooting is a major problem. Pre-migraine he was cooking though
MaxStunning_Eternal
Its time, We need a real 3rd guy. Held out hope that he could grow into a more reliable option but I dont know anymore.
That_Rutabaga_3530
RJ is like your first girlfriend who you’ll always care about but are better off without. Hate that it’s gotta be him, but unfortunately he’s not been that good this season. His playoff performance last year saved him
HowYaBin28
RJ sucks
spaceninj
The only thing he has improved in 3 years is his FT%. Other than that, he is just static.
Smasher31221
I’ve been a defender of his for years, but yeah. Ultimately, it’s time to move on. If we could package him and QG with picks for a legit 2nd/3rd option, I’d be happy.

It just sucks to admit we won 15-25 games a year for 8 years and didnt draft a single good player in the lottery.
People want to hold out hope for sentimental reasons, not anything we’ve seen on the court. Any game we come up against a team with a tall shot blocker RJ is useless. He can compile stats vs shit defenses that make you more optimistic than you should be.
Not even sure what we can do. Him being mid makes it hard for me to see how we can be a contender now or in the future.
Diligent-Cookie-1695
Ngl today is the day I’ve seen the most negative shit about RJ ever 🤣 Idk if its the same ppl or if yall was hiding.
The problem is as soon as he strings 2 decent games yall will be again on that “StarJ” bs. I was pleased with what he was doing at the start of the season but its year 5 already, you have to be delusional to get caught up on his good streaks, I needed that shit to last at least up until the all star break for me to believe that he actually took that “Mythical” leap that he is supposed to take.
But ffs Knicks we need an elite wing asap.
jett1406
he was our second best player in the playoffs. sad how it only takes a few weeks or even one bad game to turn on our players
ZeppEquinox
RJ for kuzma?
TMS2017
RJ and 2 first round draft picks for Donovan Mitchell?
Dragonthorn1217
I still believe in RJ, however he doesn’t seem to be fulfilling the role he needs to fill for this team which is a reliable 3 and D wing. With Randle and Brunson our top scorers and both being primarily paint scorers, any 3rd option we have needs to be able to stretch the floor. We also need a good point of attack defender.
Still hoping he can turn it around. All he needs to do on this team is to defend well and consistently hit wide open 3s.
Chance_Blasto
This whole sub was suckin off Pre migraine RJ so hard at the beginning of the season lol.
HustleWilson
This is a good example of holding onto an asset too long. His value was based on his potential, but 5 years in with little improvement and a large contract to deal with, I’m not sure what you get for him.
dBlock845
He started the season so damn promising too and got my hopes up.
HoyaDestroya33
I think Leon already thought about this.
ihasweenis
If anyone calls this take reactionary, it is, but also its not. Yes he had a great start to the season, but also we have seen next to no development in his game since his sophomore season.
bibfortuna16
believers will tell you numbers are improving 😂

This post is stat cherry picking at it’s best.
First of all, it shows improvement year over year. That’s a good thing!
Second of all, let’s look at this in some context. Brunson, our best player’s net rating this year is 2.4.
Players like Grimes and DiVincenzo skew the average down, at -1.3 and -1.9 respectively. I guess based on this we should get rid of them right?
Hart (6.9), Quickley (7.3) and Hartenstein (6.4) skew it up… So we should obviously have them all playing 35+ minutes a game and starting right?
In limited minutes, our boy Evan Fournier is +15.6. We’ve been sitting on our secret weapon this whole time!!
You seesaw fans are annoying AF. RJ was the shit until he had a migraine and now he’s a piece of shit. I’ll support him until he isn’t on our team anymore…and then I’ll still support him because he’s always been a professional and never bitched at all, unlike the present company.
XgonBringitToYa
So Donovan is worth it now?!
tutiandtutu
I’d offer RJ for Buddy Hield, don’t even know if Pacers would take that.
icuscaredofme
Never understood why everyone was suggesting Randle trades but seen Barrett as untradable.
bluao1
I’ve been an Rj fan since he was first drafted by the Knicks. Copped his jersey before he even played a single NBA game, which might be part of the reason why I’m so invested in him. But it has been UGLY since his return from migraines. It’s disappointing bc he was playing so well to start the season, and now he’s reverted backwards. Wondering if his knee is still an issue (been wearing sleeves on both legs vs just one to start the season), but that shouldn’t stop him from making smart decisions on the court. Hope he finds his way back soon before the entire fanbase turns on him. He’s making it difficult right now, but I feel like he is the one guy we Knicks fans all want to succeed the most on this team.
dedbeats
RJ just isn’t a fit for the style of basketball this team plays. He’s a downhill player who excels in transition, slashing to the basket, and now getting to the line. This team doesn’t move quickly enough and doesn’t have the shooters for him to succeed. We’d have an easier time selling him than adapting the offense to benefit everyone who doesn’t play half court pace
KingJoe7-123
RJ, Quickley, 3 picks and a swap for Donovan Mitchell at the deadline. Pray Cleveland continues to implode.
biinroii01
i will be heartbroken bc rj such a good dude and actually started the season looking very promising before he suffered from migraines and now hes 🗑️ again
but if we do trade him then i pray we win the championship so he could technically have gotten a ring in NY lol
Immediatewhaffle
I don’t think him and Julius play well together and they will both be better when they’re separated.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence RJ was playing great when Julius couldn’t find his groove. He got hurt came back and Julius had found a rhythm and RJ couldn’t refind it.
Same thing when he played good in the playoffs when Julius was hurt.
Most would go with Julius obviously he’s more proven. But I’m terrified of betting wrong and RJ blossoms on the Miami heat or some shit.
OutsetFlair
Don’t wanna let him go because I know there are people waiting to hate on him even though he won’t be on the team anymore even though he helped bring the Knicks back into the playoffs.
NadmocnijiSuparnik
And they could have picked Garland instead of Brickett.
