12/22 PHI vs. DET Postgame: Scott Laughton

Yeah uh take a deep breath they had a good start um we know that in our room we got no quit uh the temperature of the game uh got a little heated and I think that plays into us uh in our game so um it’s huge for our group uh tells you a

Lot about us and and uh what guys are willing to do for each other uh we get down to 5D guys battle I thought risto all those guys they they battle block shots uh just tells you about this group and and uh why we play for each other goal by

You it’s been a while since you had one how how’d that feel out to get that one feels nice to to contribute there and um in the third especially and uh to get on the board uh beer did a great job in front before he put it on net and uh

Just had to tap it in so yeah it feels nice but uh obviously would have liked to get the two points but uh the way we battle back uh we can take a lot from it after yesterday’s game you know John toell was not too happy with how things

Went in terms of foreing and only using the transition do you think you guys were able to handle a little bit a little bit better today yeah I thought uh we did a better job once you start for cheing um it opens up to make plays

At the Blue Line and and uh at the top of the circles I thought uh DLo and Garney did a great job at the start of the game um getting in on the for check making their D turn and uh we went from there TK started doing it in the second

Uh and you create turnover so it was uh it was good for our group uh good to come back what was the conversation like in the room after going down 51 take a deep breath I think uh stay even Keel um things aren’t always going to go your

Way uh We’ve we haven’t been in this situation too many times this year uh where it’s been that lopsided so um thought it was good uh like I said you want to get that second point but uh you lose in a in a skills competition I know

It’s a loss technically but like you said you got got that one point is this a good way to go into the break after especially after yesterday yeah I think so I think uh we we kind of uh segmented it and uh into the last four games going

Into the break uh you pick up Five Points obviously you want a couple more but uh we got to look at this as a as a positive for our group uh going into the break uh big Western Road Trip uh swing coming up and get some rest uh I know a

Lot of guys uh at this time of the year are a little banged up so it’ll be good to to get some rest and and uh go back at it and just your assessment of Carter seemed like he settled down uh after that first period and came up big

Especially in the overtime session yeah he saved us in overtime he made a a huge save on gosis sp there on two onone um he was solid for us uh the first couple goals it’s a back door tap in um not much he could do so uh he was solid for

Us and uh he’s been solid for us all year

Hear from Scott Laughton following a 7-6 shootout loss to the Red Wings.
