These people to help him work on his conditioning work on his body he’s been so much better in quarters than he was last year he’s been better late in games he’s been playing incredible amount of minutes he was he played 43 minutes in this game he didn’t look any different

At the end than than he did at the beginning that that’s the big difference between last year and this year is he’s doing the things that we’ve wanted him to do there was one play in this game where Isaac texted me and said oh God why didn’t luuka get back on defense in

That one play where he was complaining and I was like man gone are the days of well Luca’s just whining and he doesn’t get back he’s getting he’s at least getting back he’s taking that step forward because I think he’s really taken it upon himself what happened last

Season for the Mavericks they missed the playoffs with a top five player embarrassing can’t happen again and Luca took it upon himself all right I’m in this what his sixth season now I’m you know about to be 25 I’m a father now and he was going to be a father at the start

Realized teams have thought like you know what that’s just the best we can do like just playing four on three and even then he’s still dropping 50 points and goes on a stretch what was it how many games in a row of 30 plus points was it

13 is that what you got to 12 or 13 and then I’m bored by it now cuz the one game that he breaks he scores 29 like this is just insane and you mentioned how he’s you know he’s a top five player obviously like he’s been voted a top

Five player in four of his Five Seasons in the NBA up until this point but the Step he has taken this year is like going from that top five perennial MVP candidate into oh this is like who we’ve said could be an all-time great level

You know Grant Williams Derrick Jones Jr like these are all new guys that haven’t been on the Mavs before so this a just a new iteration of the Mavericks I think they’ve now mastered they’ve they’ve gotten it down we’re what 30 games in they’ve mastered these double teams

Where they just have so many options here are the options it just depends on who’s on the court but you can either get exm to come over and to get the ball into attack you get Lively who either set the screen could go into the like

The free throw line and get the ball and either dunk or kick out or just stay there while Luca gets available in some other way you got Derrick Jones Jr that can you know do some stuff out of that where they were passing to him

And he was driving off the weak side and you know getting in attacking like they’ve just got so many options out of it where it felt like in the past past iterations of the Mavericks just didn’t have anything it was like somebody come get the ball so that Luca can get it

Back again I think it starts with having a legit seven foot presence in the middle that that disrupts everything because honestly we saw this with the you know when you set the when Lively comes up and sets a screen okay that that’s a that’s a nice

Opportunity for us to trap this pick and roll because we have size on Luca problem is LCA like I said earlier just going to pass out of that every time it does not matter like like a size on a double team will affect 99.9% of players

And he basically baits Devon Booker into a double technical which I personally I didn’t really think Deon Booker did anything for a technical but Grant Williams grabbed him and was like pulling him they were tussling and going back and forth and Booker said some things after and they ended up calling

Double technical on it and I wanted to point that out because after that the Mavs go on a 43 to 25 stretch to end the game in the fourth quarter and the end of the third uh Deon Booker goes three of four from the from the field only

Takes four shots has three assists and like it’s not like he took that as motivation and just destroyed the Mavs after that I mean it was it just was didn’t do a lot after that yeah I mean I wonder on the double Tex if they know because when great Williams got fouled

By Booker that’s like if they reviewed that they’re calling that a flagrant like I’m 100% convinced I’ve been on we’ve talked about this so many times this season that the WNBA looks at those fouls and reviews every single one of them and the NBA doesn’t and I don’t

Understand why I mean I’m I’m Pro like letting them play a little bit more than the NBA currently does but that’s that gets called that gets called a flagrant almost every single time but anyways uh yeah I mean I didn’t think about that about that being a bit of a spark plug

For the Mavericks and getting them going because ultimately I thought it just boiled down to the third quarter you missed every single three and the Suns hit every single three but maybe that was a bit of the a little uh spark plug for you and you got going Mavs were down

By five at that point which was their their almost their biggest deficit at the end of that third that’s when the Suns really made their their comeback in that third quarter Mavs are down by it felt like it was slipping it felt like it was legitimately slipping out of your

Grasp Mavs are down by five Grant Williams does his crazy Grant Williams stuff and then the Mavs go on this run in the fourth quarter now it took them a little while to get into that run in the fourth quarter it wasn’t like an immediate payoff from that but they did

They end up getting it and uh one of the reasons why the Mavs weren’t in this game was because of how they defended Grayson Allen what are your thoughts on on how they just decided to leave him basically I mean they were they were helping off of him the help guy was

Almost always the Grayson Allen Defender and um the Suns to the credit read it really well and kicked out to him every time into Grayson all credit he tied now his tied with Luka donic I think it was Patty Mills for the most threes made in a Christmas Day game with eight eight

Their 38 I mean that was like dagger after dagger right into your chest it was just so sickening and I get what they were doing because they did a good job on Beal and Durant ended up hanging off because yeah I said deal I’ve I’ve done that several times tonight I don’t

Know why but uh Booker and Durant they did a good job and in the fourth quarter those guys were not in a enough of a rhythm to take over the game the way you would want your Superstars to take over games so I guess it did end up working

And then Grayson Allen started missing some shots so it all even out in the end but it was pretty infuriating I mean these guys are like 40% career Shooters Grayson Allen is and they kept leaving Eric Gordon open too that guy’s been a great shooter his whole career too he

Only went two of seven it wasn’t the same as leaving a you know Josh aogi or even a Dante XM or Derrick Jones Jr where those guys historically have not been good three-point Shooters they were leaving Grayson Allen wide open it didn’t feel like it ended up being that

I I think the Suns made an adjustment to try and like have Gra Allen be the guy that that that got open no the third the third quarter in the third quarter they had pretty much all Shooters out on the floor they took Eubanks out and they started withs because metsu was playing

Well and was knocking down threes so at that point in time it was like everyone on the court could shoot for the Suns and so if you helped off anyone who helped off would could shoot and Grayson Allen was just the guy who was the beneficiary of that a lot of the times

But um speaking of the Suns I’m so surprised that like K bat’s jop and UD Wan and ABI just game just coach’s decision just not playing water’s been terrible it’s been that’s been that’s been interesting because I thought those were both good signings in the off season they they just Haven them panned

Out I mean I thought I thought they did a good job in the offseason too granted given how little they had to work with outside their big three for sure but you build a big three around three because de Booker’s reaching a point where it’s

Like man he’s kind of hurt a lot like the P going back to like the past couple of Seasons uh Beal obviously has missed a ton of time recently nerkish has missed a ton of time Kevin R missed a ton of time any of these guys get hurt

That all of a sudden like you need a chimi metu 23 and 19 game to even have a chance in a game where you lose by 14 like you need a Grayson Allen 32 bomb to lose a game by 14 and the suns were favored by four in this game yeah what

Was that about they were they were suns were like favored by like eight or something I know they like the opening line was five and a half like they had the Christmas Day lines all season long you could bet on those all season so I don’t know if maybe they just didn’t

Want to move too far off of that I just I don’t think there’s any way you could have the Suns favorite the way these teams have been playing lately and with Lively back no Mavs get the win and uh I think that was just the reaction of
