Ok let’s have serious grown up discussion for fuckin once on this sub about about the moves you think the Knicks, should and could make

Any tank talk and I’ll punch you in the head. Trading RJ Grimes 5 picks for a bag of marbles. Punch in the head. Firing Thibs. Punch in the head , Capeesh?

For once I wanna see some fuckin decent discussions no bullshit

What moves should this franchise make to move forward ?

Easiest move imo would be to trade RJ for a good lower usage wing such as OG and start/resign Quickley at SG. Gives us better defense instantly and better 3point shooting. But Raptors for some reason will never let go.

  2. Strict_Calendar7674

Better than paying RJ a similar amount, superstar trade isn’t coming. Can possibly still keep either the Dallas pick or their own and draft another big in the early 20s to late teens depending where those picks fall. This to me is the most realistic.

  3. Fitz-magic1

Before we bring in anymore players I need to see Quickley in the starting lineup.

In my opinion a coaching change would fix a lot of problems. You don’t have to agree with me but I’m tired of his subs, his rotations and his stubbornness

  5. IcyWhereas2313

Three team trade with Brooklyn and Toronto, knicks trading with Brooklyn for Bridges and filler, Brooklyn trading with Toronto, us giving up 4 FRP and Quickley, RJ, and Fournier, Brooklyn getting OA and Fournier 2 FRP, Toronto getting RJ Quickley, 2 FRP

One of the monstars from the old space jam for dolans shitty band

  7. I truly think the first move we should make to improve the team is getting rid of Thibs or giving someone else the reins while he stays on as a defensive coach.

He’s a great regular season coach from a different era. It’s like the Mark Jackson Warriors. There was only so much that talented roster could do while being out coached.

I don’t know who we can get to replace him, but we do consistently see him get out coached just to be bailed out by lights out 3 point shooting. It’s frustrating seeing him refuse to use all of the tools at his disposal just for “size” purposes. Play to our strength, and who is hot that game. Unless IQ asked to come out there was no reason for RJ to be subbed in.

The moves? Using a proper lineup with what we got.. Such as Quickley playing more than 30 minutes a night, and RJ not.

  9. Since Klutch clients are now available:
    1) Fournier, Grimes, the Mavs first and the Detroit first for Murray and Saddiq Bey.
    2) RJ, 2024 Washington first, 2025 Milwaukee first and the 2025 Knicks first for Jerami Grant.

    New Rotation:

    Brunson-Murray-Grant-Randle-Hartenstein

    IQ-DDV-Hart-Bey-Taj

RJ, Fournier and picks for Mikal. Cry when they hang up.

  11. JarnaisVu

To whomever wants to move RJ for something better.

    WHY WOULD THEY WANT RJ?

if we see him being shit other, teams can too.

It should have been earlier when his contract was still Rookie scale.

His value is dogshit for sure

Get mason plumlee with the IPE money they applied for to back up iHart. Look to see if any of the Detroit players can be gotten on the cheaper side. Find a way to move Evan for the outgoing salary. If any of these moves involve losing RJ I will be sad but understand as long as there is a clear upgrade at wing.

    Start IQ

  13. People may not like this but besides getting a back up center and a cheap small forward, the team should stay intact and worry about changes in the summer.

I don’t really think our roster is bad. I think a coaching change would be great with someone who can properly utilize the talent. Also maybe a new coach can make Randle actually use his strength instead of shooting awful 3s.

The only person I think needs to go is RJ. I tried defending him for years but he’s not the guy. He’s not a good 3 and D type player and isn’t even good at creating his own shot.

  15. Swift_42690

Need a wing, ideally an elite 3 and D wing. If we can replace RJ with someone like OG, Jerami Grant, or Lauri, we would be a top 3 team in the east.

  16. Affectionate-Tea9224

Assuming Rose and crew can’t upgrade from RJ, the rotations have to change, and it’s not even about who’s starting, it’s about figuring out a way to get IQ over 30 minutes and sacrificing minutes from someone else. Knicks are just flat out better with IQ on the floor and his numbers, the team’s numbers and their overall record when IQ plays 30 plus minutes since being drafted is very good.

  17. no idea until we get some more looks at ihart during this stretch with mitch out. as much as i love mitch and what he brings, gotta take a look at how the offense is operating with ihart’s offense and deciding if we’re building toward the rim protecting rebounding anchor or if more versatility at the 5 can really change the landscape of the squad.

that said, if we’re looking at the starting 5, rj’s spot is the biggest question mark. the process from early in the year seems to be gone, the defense is still there but it isn’t enough, the FT shooting is good but that’s not really enough at this point. randle has found a repeatable elite offensive trait with his downhill bullyball (combined with him starting to integrate more of the middy fadeaway that he made look automatic in 2021), brunson’s pullup 3 point shooting is very serious, ddv is ddv…if rj isn’t going to hit those open looks, and if he’s getting back into his ways of being sure of what he’s going to do in the paint before he gets there, i’d consider reuniting him with zion if we could nab TM3 from NO.

the main jab against brunson in DAL was that he couldn’t beat you from deep, we’ve seen his growth in that realm. last postseason teams were daring a hobbled randle to beat them from deep, they’ll dare rj the same, and if he isn’t showing up in those situations…

  18. Jusuf_Nurkic

If we’re gonna make a trade involving 2-4 firsts and a guy like grimes/IQ it better be for an actual star an not a tier 3 guy like Murray or Anunoby. It is not worth blowing half/most of our assets on a dude with a career .525 TS% in Murray (and who’s defense has also fallen off a cliff) or a guy who averages 15 PPG in Anunobdy. Those moves might marginally improve the team from a 5 seed to a 3 seed maybe but we’re still never beating Boston/Milwaukee without another star, so all we’d have done is still probably be a 2nd round exit except with half the draft picks

We should hold what we have until a genuine all-NBA player like Booker/Mitchell/Mikal (if you think he’s that good) etc becomes available then pull the trigger there

  19. knicks911

Tbh I think RJ needs to come off the bench. With Brunson and Randle in the starting lineup there’s just not enough spacing with RJ on the floor. Ideally, he could cook with the second unit because it’ll he would be the main scorer on that unit.

Trade wise we need something but not just anything. If Booker is available we gotta get him.

Edit: I’ve been a big RJ supporter and truly want him to do well. He’s our 3rd pick. But in year 5 now he just doesn’t seem to have what we need. Bringing him off the bench is our last recourse unfortunately.

  20. Really don’t see how this sub expects to improve. The popular sentiment seems to be the team shouldn’t trade for players that are going to expect to be worth starting level money, shouldn’t use picks to acquire starter level players, but also shouldn’t use assets to acquire top 15 level players that are/were available because they’re losers (embiid, towns, Donovan). We have a decent team, look at our actual rosters production/line up stats and thibs is getting good value out of these guys. Quickley is also a time bomb with his desire to (and his ability to) be a starter in this league. The team has to make substantial/risky moves because this is our team’s ceiling as constructed.

  21. Obvious upgrades required at the 2 and the 3. With Hart and DD in the fold, both RJ, Grimes, and IQ (and picks) are available to trade to get better.

If the Knicks could add OG and Dejounte or Spida – to what they have now, this team is more competitive and still has a solid 3 year window.

  22. Legitimate-Cupcake26

I know it’s not popular but I’d love to trade for Markinnen and play him at the 3 assuming RJ is going to back to Utah. Dude can ball

  23. HowYaBin28

They really just gotta move RJ for a more consistent offensive player, that can play good defense.
