Young guys are often told to “play within” themselves; don’t try stuff in a game when you only started practicing it a week ago. So far the Spurs have given to opposite advice to Wemby, go out there and try shit, find where your limits are. When your theoretical ceiling is a hybrid of Giannis, KD, and Gobert there’s no blueprint to follow.
Wemby doesn’t need to be this player or that player right now, he just needs time. If he were on a contender then sure, focus on rim protection and efficiency. I know Embiid respects him and means well with his advice, but Wemby doesn’t need to conceive of an archetype for himself at this stage. His time will come.
