Seems really dumb and weird to release this now. And then talk about how media protect players. Only to release it way later anyways. I’m sure refs have been called way worse and have seen them being called worse. Seems like a non story tbh.

I can’t read it because it’s the paywall. But from what I’ve gleaned, it seems like the issue of protecting star players is real because of the money everyone has to gain from doing so, and also the timing and perhaps even substance of this particular issue is weak.
Edit: But it doesn’t matter if refs have been called worse, we probably agree that Ja was wrong to say it

Don’t know much about this situation, but my general impression of Haberho is that he is not a serious person.
Cory Jez was awkward and maybe not the best, but I genuinely can’t stand Tom Haberstroh. I can’t even quite put my finger on why, but this definitely adds to it.
The media is desperate to keep painting Ja as a bad guy. Not saying he’s perfect by any means, but at least he’s not beating women and having sex with teenage girls.

99% of Reddit not understanding the point of the article which was about the role of dwindling in person journalism and how the folks that are still doing in person are incentivized to not burn bridges to air out incidents like this.

Players talk crazy to refs every single game. The funniest one I can remember that I always talk about is when Moe Harkless was standing at the free throw line and he was talking to a ref and said
“You suck. You f***** suck” super casually
In the grand scheme, this is nothing compared to what some refs hear every game. It was just such a funny way because I feel like kids will usually use the term suck that way lol. That was when I started feeling for refs. They obviously make a ton of money and players actually have it 1000000000000 worse because they hear the worst things ever. But having another grown man tell you that you suck to your face at work is wild lol.
Hab is super freaking weak for this though.
