Monty Williams addresses 27th straight loss, mood in locker room | NBA on ESPN

I mean the way we started was you know something we’ve seen a lot this year we’ve had really good starts at times there have been times where we’ve been in a hole as well but um to have a start like that um and then kind of Let It Go in the

Second quarter I mean that that was the quarter that um you know put us in the hole is a -3 and I think we had six turnovers in that quarter um we had two in the first and so the formula for the game was pretty set um and and that’s

Something that’s plagued us all year long it’s just having that segment of the game or one quarter that just kind of put us in the hole and we just haven’t been able to do enough to overcome um we had a pretty good third and a decent fourth you know there was

Some some mishaps on defense um in the fourth as far as switching that gave them a few buckets um and then we filed a lot you know 43 free throws that’s a lot but they you know they missed a lot so it it wasn’t like you know the free throw game

Totally crushed us because they missed so many but the the second quarter was as you said once we had the start the second quarter just put us in such a hole and it was a bit deflating for the guys but I thought we got it back at halftime Kade was Sensational and and

Emotional in the way he took over in that second half what did he show you as a coach well he’s just you know he showed me even more in the locker room just now you know he he he talked passionately about you know the things

We need to do um and and how everybody has to be you know in the boat and accountable for where we are you have to be real about where we are nobody wants something like this attached to them the bottom line is it’s it’s it’s my job it’s my

Responsibility um when you look at the record coaches are graded on their records that’s that’s the bottom line but in relationship to to Cade um you know he got in some foul trouble early and I knew he was going to put it on his

Shoulders to get us back in it um in the second half and he did a wonderful job coach how heavy was that number 27 waiting on you guys coming into the game tonight you know I’m sure it was I mean again when you look at records you think of coaches

You know what I mean but I’m sure the players don’t want that attached to um the name on The Jersey and was it you know heavy it it’s been heavy for a while it’s just the nature of this kind of of losing streak and um you know it’s not going to change

Because we’re grading the level of it you know we got to do what we got to do to change it you think Monte to any extent that late in the game when they are so close I mean I think it was within three with 154 left that they get a

Little tight because of what’s on their shoulders right here right now I would imagine that that’s a part of it but that’s part of NBA basketball I mean if you’re ever going to be uh what you want to be someday you’re going to have to deal with that level of tight

You know what I mean uh we had a number of opportunities on offense we missed um open looks at the free throw line um we had a couple of situations that we turned the ball over like we we had opportun I don’t think that was tight we

Just missed you know what I mean so but is it is it heavy yeah I I would imagine for everybody it is nobody wants this kind of thing attached to them and you know I was brought in here to to change this thing and it’s it’s

Probably the most on me than any anybody you know the players are playing their hearts out I got to get them in a position where they don’t feel tight or heavy but you know it’s where we are that’s the reality of the situation defensively what are you seeing especially a lot of the

Breakdowns just straight line drivve yeah I mean the the straight line drives were um that’s that’s with any team in the NBA you got to be able to guard for at least two dribbles I was more concerned with the times where we didn’t switch when we were opposed to and and

Gave them space um we had a few breakdowns um that just cost us you know whether it was cam Johnson slipping out for a shot or somebody you know we didn’t Rd it they got to the paint and they found somebody for a three those are things

That you know we have to continue to teach we’ve gone over it and I got to do a better job of making sure guys know what they’re supposed to do [Applause] I’m

  1. when overpaying a coach goes horribly wrong πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ pro nba players cant have 27 straight loses

  2. It's crazy that this Pistons team is worse than " The Process" 76ers team that was deliberately tanking. It's a mess in Detroit.

  3. The issue now is that NOBODY wants to lose to Detroit now, and with the amount of parity in the nba , it is forcing teams like the nets and other mid of the pack teams to really try against the pistons in order get wins to make a playoff push .. and obviously the top teams in the league most likely won’t lose to the pistons .. I say all this to say I really don’t know where the pistons get a win anytime soon πŸ˜‚πŸ₯΄ maybe to like wizards and the spurs? πŸ˜‚

  4. Man… when you think about it – 27 games in a row has to be hard on you mentally. And really, I don't know when they're going to get their next win. Maybe they might surprise a team (?).

  5. All I hear are excuses and befuddlements. The repeated scratching of his head and looking down when speaking exudes insecurity and weakness. Hopefully he is fired. They need a confident coach with a sustainable work ethic.

  6. That turn over in the last sec was cherry πŸ’ on the top πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ this pistons team fully cooked 😒 someone placed a bit that they will not win a single game in 23-24 regular season games and they will cash out $40,0000πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

  7. My favorite team ever is this pistons team. Over 20 nights of easy parlay wins. Thank you for everything you’ve done and will continue to do for me and my family

  8. Monty is a very generational coach… yes the start of this season has been less then desirable but this man will pull those boys from the pits of hell and that’s on god

  9. I don't care what he did in Phoenix, his team looks as if they have no coach at all. I've seen much better college teams. These Pistons look like a very talented high school team but with virtually no organization.

  10. Current NBA slam dunk champion πŸ† Current G League Champion Current G League Player of the Month Mac McClung is STILL in the G League Tearing up the League … IF This coach TRULY Wants to Improve his Team … I'd suggest Signing him !!! πŸ˜πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†
