Hawks vs. Kings Postgame Press Conference: Quin Snyder

Hawks vs. Kings Postgame Press Conference: Quin Snyder

Had moments where we were really good and our execution late um thought we went through a dry spell in the third quarter where we missed some shots had a few turnovers um and they you know they could cut into the lead but we we got the lead back and um you know our

Execution on both ends of the floor uh let us down in the fourth quarter Quinn how do you not let these close games that you guys have been in and compete in you know over the last month or so kind of get to you guys and and maybe hopefully not break The Spirit

Well we have to understand what why why and then you can focus on that and work on it and um you know we have to be mentally tough with with the whole thing and um and again there there’s it’s not super complicated when you see some of the shots we’re getting

Some of the the breakdowns defensively um you know we got to communicate with each other as much as anything to get that execution coach I know you kind of mentioned it already but were you happy with some of the looks the guys were getting in that fourth quarter was it

More they just weren’t making shots or was it kind of the king’s defense that was I thought we we you know obviously through the the meat of the game we got some really good looks and in the fourth qu in the in the thir third quarter I

Mentioned when um you know they made a run on us it was both open looks Miss shots and also some turnovers um late um you know again our exe you don’t know where the shots are going to come obviously all the time um but open

Threes are good the rim is good and um you know playing off each other but whatever is whatever it is we’re doing you know getting organized um but then having a mentality U you know is is the biggest thing for us and that that’s our execution so it’s it’s not one thing um

It’s Collective and it’s not one thing not one guy it’s not one thing um we just have to grind through it in the first half it did seem like the the ball movement was good and and you guys were getting even better looks just what what did you see from the ball

Movement as far as maybe DJ’s aggressiveness um to open things up for you guys yeah I mean like I said the the the majority of the game um there there’s times you know later in the game the game’s going to slow down and uh you know making plays for one another is key

They were trapping Trey and he was getting off it um you know we we had some opportunities and weren’t able to convert and then the key thing is to defend um to continue to defend and and hopefully get some some things you know where you’re not playing against a set

Defense and take advantage of that but we have to get stops to do that coach I wanted to ask you about Clint capella he had another double double tonight and he contains sa bonus when it comes to rebounds just talk about his play and how he continues to elevate when it

Comes to playing these big Caliber men yeah he did a really good job and uh you know his pick and roll defense we asked him to do a lot of things to to you know impact the ball and then you know still be in a position to guard sabonis and

Then when Fox got going we we asked him to trap the ball um you know and that that’s that’s what I’m you know when when we’re in those situations with the you know when we’re trapping to get it out of someone’s hands or to impact them um that that becomes a collective effort

And we just have to be you know sharper in those situations but Clint did a really good job um I was just kind of curious with Patty you know he had uh um some good matchups tonight I was curious what about the Kings is it that they’re just

A little smaller in the back court that makes it a better matchup for him yeah it felt like you know there was a point where we felt like you know Darren Fox is is good and um if we could just make it hard for him and you know that’s what

We wanted to see from Patty and then he spaces and gives us energy and he knocked down a shot tonight so um we we have a number of guys that have to be ready to play at given times you know we played Clinton and oam together um our rotations and

Substitutions um sometimes it’s nice to have a rhythm uh where guys have an expectation about when they’re going in when they’re coming out um but we don’t have that that luxury all the time and the game is going to dictate a lot of those things and tonight um you know we

Felt like Patty they were playing Mitchell as well um so you know he was able to really to to compete he always competes you know and that’s the thing that he gives us thanks coach okay

  1. The 3rd & 4th quarter lapse continues to haunt this coach & reflect on the poor execution & consistency of this team. Very disappointing that as team they're unable to elevate thus far.

  2. Trae Young need to come off the Bench periodt. start Boga or trade him for Z.Livine #8Bulls🤔…..He hurting us bc it's all about him Now(All Star)🙄..We got tooooo much talent to be losing like this….sih should be 3 or 4 in the East about Now🤔

  3. Where is your brilliant offense at? We dont run nothing in the fourth. Its tons of ISO basketball. You alrelady know we trash on the defensive end.

  4. I think the best coach for the Howks was Lloyd Pierce.

It couldn't be helped that it seemed like he was completely relying on young to play. For a team aiming for even higher ranks, the dismissal of the coach at the time was probably the right thing to do.

But the Howks identity he created, passingOF, was undoubtedly the style most suited to young and Howks, and its future was bright. Unfortunately that style no longer exists. No Huerter and no Collins. Murray and Capela wouldn't fit that style.

I'm really crying. Young came to the foundation of Howks, originally created by Collins, and created a team with the title “King Young and His In-betweens.''

Will my beloved Howks never come back?
