How did this bum win DPOY over Bam? I’m watching Harden cook this dude all game.

  1. Steven Adams was the perfect 5 for him.. he did all the dirty work (boxing out, screens, etc.). Made Jaren’s job easier and allowed for him to roam around on D for blocks

The grizzlies score keeper adding an extra block or two to the stat sheet:

Adams was the engine for their D and JJJ was the one who was able to come in to get blocks and look like he was playing amazing D. He was a system player benefiting from his role within the system (that he generally did really well).

Bam is a system. Every coach would rather have Bam than JJJ. DPoY is a fun little narrative driven award, just like CotY. Bam and Spo will not win the awards, but will be talked about as elite well past the end of their careers.

Adams was the real DPOY. But what he does ain’t sexy to the media which makes a significant portion of the voters.

JJJ probably didn’t deserve to win it last year but if I’m being honest, Bam didn’t deserve one either last year. Bam didn’t play very well after the ASB last season. The one he really deserved to win was 2022 when Marcus Smart won.

  6. He got exposed so badly in the world cup. Bro rebounds worse than a guard, picks up fouls in a blink of an eye. This dpoy was worst than smart Dpoy.
