Jamal Murray isn’t worried after Nuggets’ Blowout loss to OKC Thunder

Go ahead Ryan yeah Ryan yeah lock you in today Ryan you know I will tough one obviously it’s a second night of a back to back I know you guys don’t use that as an excuse but uh just kind of what went into between yesterday and today uh

Off the court or on the court oh yeah just preparing for for tonight um you know just the usual um I think we just we came out a little flat um we got a little frustrated with the calls and then that compiled into the way we

Played and I think it just internally we got to be a little better knowing that the other team is playing hard as hell and um you know we’re we’re we’re a great team um and we normally figure it out you know what I’m saying we we normally bad half I’ll have a 20-point

Quarter or Yol will go crazy or kcp will get some some key plays um I just felt like we we beat ourselves tonight and and then on top of that they they beat us as well so it was like a twofold you know we didn’t um we didn’t do as good

We didn’t we beat ourselves and then uh we we weren’t able to do the necessary things to get back in the game even when we tried so um you know I got to be a lot better obviously um even me I got a little frustrated out there so you know

We got to be able to just focus on the next play and be able to um play together you know possession in and possession up what makes them so tough at turning teams over I mean we just got to be better with the ball I don’t think it was anything they

Did honest see you know um Yoke’s going to be yoke he’s going to make those crazy passes and they work you know and um um I got to be better at not get jumping in the air and passing um like I said I think it was it was a

Lot of stuff that we did that we didn’t um we just we played into our emotions too much today I feel like that’s what it was um just a rough one on the back to back and uh you know I think you know us will bounce back I’ll bounce back and

Uh yeah looking forward to that next game was it more that playing the emotions than fatigue I know everyone will sort of point I mean probably maybe I’m not going to use that excuse um like I said we get every team’s best shot and they play really well you know what I’m saying

Um yeah I’m not going to talk about those guys go ahead go ahead um so they’re in the third third quarter uh SGA that’s when he really went off he had 18 in the first half and he had 17 going into the fourth quarter or excuse me 17 in the

Third quarter um defensively you know going from the first half to that third quarter what changed with you guys defense on him nothing I don’t think we did anything different um was there was there a reason that he jumped from you know 18 to 17 there in the third quarter

Or you know did he just did he just happen to get hot and that’s what happens I don’t know brother I don’t know he played a good game um we got to do better job just playing one to one uh knowing his moves um being ready for the

Push offs and all that you know what I’m saying so we just got to do better individually guarding shrinking for each other all that kind of stuff uh bringing help he’s a great player and he finds teams really well draws fouls um so we got to do better just caling him and and

And making him do something that he doesn’t want to do or pass the ball um and you know he got to his game tonight and um yeah I don’t think we did anything different the second time they’ve come in here and beat you guys but this questions about you guys

Obviously you WI a lot here at home is that the kind of thing you want to take personally and and carry with you or is it more important to just kind of let it go cuz you trust yourselves to to correct it over time or next time we

Play them again y I mean we can’t think about that all day you know what I’m saying we got games to play u maybe when we play them next we we’ll bring up the film of this game and mind ourselves and we’ll have a full team healthy and

Rested um but other than that no man like they played a good game like they shot really well you know what I’m saying like you don’t want to take anything that they did but a lot of the stuff that we we didn’t control a lot of controllables and that added on to such

A ass beating my bad um but that’s exactly what it was you know what I’m saying like it was just you can’t let them play really good and on top of that you’re playing terrible um so it’s got to be at least one or the other um and

Be able to figure it out from there coach talked about when they shrink the floor and when they send two to the ball a lot of the time that you have to have Outlets you have to have different keys that you’re trying to get to just what

Does that process look like against the team that shrinks the floor as much as they do where it’s it’s always coming as soon as especially with Joker I the thing is see I’m I’m like water you know what I’m saying he’s got to flow with that you know what I’m saying they

Shrink something’s open you know what I’m saying if if if ludor doesn’t want to switch on something then something else is open so there there’s counters to everything you can’t just be like oh they’re doing this and we’re never going to get to whatever the hell we want to

Do you know you got to be able to adjust and use what they do against you or against them sorry um and like I said we just got to be more mindful of the stuff we do in the game and and and trust each other a little more um trust the pass a

Little more the ball movement you I feel like the ball got stuck especially with you know with me and yeah I’m just going to talk for myself cuz I look like good now I got to be able to you know pass the ball know trust the team if I’m going to get a

Back and we all try to trust each other in the float offense even when we’re losing or or they’re shrinking or they’re playing tight or whatever um we got you know do a better job of just playing with the pass and and and trust each other throughout the game you know

Not just one possession um so yeah they do a good job good job of shrinking which means the three-point line is open you know what I’m saying so there’s there’s different there’s different things uh that we can do better one more question is there any I know you guys haven’t watched the film

Yet but is there any like consistencies in these two losses to Oklahoma City like things that have been the same in both games uh Uh at first thought I’m going to say one-on-one containment you know just kind of knowing Tendencies knowing that they like to go left um like I said shrinking shrinking against them or uh you know bringing more help when they get to the paint or whatever it is you know I think I think

They they play so spaced um that when they drive we got to we got to have a some help for that you know what I’m saying so um yeah I’d say just just being able to contain one-onone they do a lot of slips in that better communication maybe

Um I think the main thing forget X as a nose man it’s just energy and bringing the right um emotions to to each possession and trusting each other I think that’s that’s the biggest key as a guy that’s out there more than anything get Nico

  1. He’s hurt. He knows that they got their ass beat. That back to back crap is an excuse. They sat out the last quarter last night. Lost respect for that clown

  2. The fact that in the beginning he discredited the Thunders defensive effort tonight is actually insane. OKC is a Top 10 Defensive Team with SGA leading the league in steals, i get that their a championship team, and they playing off a B2B with some injuries, but bro talking like OKC is not 2nd seed in the west.

  3. Murray got his ass own by Shai and he is salty. Stop it, you play average every regular season. You can play like today and cry why you aren't all star.

  4. People talking like a back to back was a factor. Starters didn't play a single minute in the fourth quarter the previous game.

  5. God Murray has been so fucking mid for so fucking long. SGA has consistently outplayed HIM every matchup. We know the real reason why you dipped on team Canada.

  6. Oh he really doesn’t like the new kids in town haha. Not being the best Canadian in the world coming off a chip has got to sting.

  7. Wow like so many butthurt losers in the comments ! They got destroyed and now they hate with passion our NBA champs ! Get a life losers !!!

  8. People talking here like the Nuggets got blown away…they just shot bad and OKC did the job thats it 🤦🏻‍♂️

No one uses 'LOL' anymore 😂😂😂😂😂😂

  9. So Murray doesn't want to give any credit to OKC for going into Denver and blowing them out! He kept saying Denver beat themselves?? SGA dropped 40 and destroyed you, kid!!

  10. This is what I’ve always hated about the NBA: sometimes the players don’t feel like playing.

  11. Yes, he nailed it! They are always getting the non-calls get in their way. Denver is making a lot of excuses right now, schedule, back2backs, refs, disrespect, I mean come on, just deal with it and play like the reigning champs. It is what it is, but the heart of a champion should always prevail under anything!
