So you guys don’t miss any of our content over the course of this season all right let’s talk some basketball is jayd Dub on OKC underrated this may sound stupid but I can’t think of many players who have looked this good in their second year as the second option
On their team his strength his prowess and transition and vision reminds me of a young LeBron obviously he’s a less obviously he’s less of a physical anomaly but he’s certainly a better shooter in year 2 I feel like he goes a bit under the radar because of how good
Shay gild just Alexander is I think the other reason he goes under the radar is he’s still really young right like we’re talking about him in his second year like he just last night had his third consecutive 20 plus point game that’s only the third time in his career he’s
Done that and a big part of that is he’s young he’s figuring some stuff out also playing alongside a ton of other ball handling so his excuse me so his opportunities are a little bit more inconsistent right but I 100% agree that he’s underrated in the sense that I don’t think people realize
That this guy is a star in the making too there’s several key elements there like I I it starts with just the the the the geometry of the floor a flow of the game decision-making stuff so for instance like last night against the Knicks it’s j dub just picking on in in
He’s bringing chat into ball screens and he’s just picking on Taj Gibson and he’s picking on Julius Randall and he’s making the right reads and he’s taking and making pull-up jump shots he’s taking and making uh tough contested shots at The Rim it is like a surgical
Approach that you don’t expect to see from a young player and that’s only going to get better and better as the years go by from there it’s top tier athleticism which by the way like I picked that up immediately at Summer League you still go down in my Twitter
Feed and I have a bunch of videos of Jaylen uh Jaylen Williams dunking and me going like holy this guy this guy’s a ridiculous athlete right like he was one of the standout guys in summer league that year and like combine that with the highle passing ability the
Ability to consistently beat people off the dribble the shot making from all three levels and then some of that like higher level flow of the game stuff he’s a star in the making it’s just a matter of when still super young though so there’s going to be some Growing Pains along the
Way next question if hand checking were allowed again who do you think would be the best defender in the league and who would be more effect who would be affected more by this change the most uh I view I dismiss this question entirely uh I have a theory about hand-checking
It was actually if you look in the NBA rule book hand checking was outlawed in the 70s and what has happened is over the years there’s been an EB and flow in the amount of contact that officials have allowed and there have been slight redefinitions of what it is but still to
This day hand-checking is a thing in basketball watch any NBA playoff game in particular but it happens in regular season games as well but watch any NBA playoff game guys have their hands on guys they just do one of the most common forms of hand checking that goes
Uncalled all the time is it’s uh it’s actually the what coaches teach it’s inside hand hand checking so like let’s say I’m guarding you your camera as the offensive player you’re guard I’m guarding you your driving this way right past my right shoulder what I’m going to
Do is I’m going to lift this arm up and I’m going to take my inside arm and I’m going to literally be hitting you like this in your stomach trying to impede your progress while holding my right arm up and they’re probably going to let me
Get away with it that’s that’s one of the most common kinds of hand checking that you see is that inside hand is being physical while the outside hand is out and for the most part you can get away with that and like just between fighting for jockeying for position
Fighting uh over the top of screens the uh off arm stuff that offensive players are using there’s way more contact that takes place in basketball games than people realize the hand checking thing is purely narrative based almost entirely from the older generation to try to con convince you that
Basketball’s fake now and in in all honesty it’s just it’s literally a load of and like just go back and watch any 1980s playoff game and then watch any playoff game from this era and you tell me which game was more physical and I’m not talking about the hard fouls
I’m not talking about the dude getting thrown into the the camera row and the brawl that happens I’m talking about The Possession by possession physicality the game’s actually more physical now than it was in the 80s the one time it got a lot worse than it was now is in the late
’90s early 2000s which by the way LED to some of the red definition that took place in 2003 but like in that stretch that was when it got to the point where it was too physical and the league literally had to step in CU we had playoff games ending in the 70s and
That’s just not good television again like there it can go too far and now now the whistle making the a bad television product on the other side of things and I wouldn’t be surprised if you see some of that legislated back into the game right but the actual concept of hand
Checking has been around for five decades at this point next question my friends and I have started our own purely Warriors centered podcast and we’re wondering if you have any advice generally about starting a podcast and making it big love the stuff you do keep it up first
Of all I think it’s awesome for anybody to it’s funny because it’s uh podcasting has become a thing that kind of gets roasted in uh on social media these days uh but here’s the thing like if are you having fun doing it because if you’re having fun doing it who gives a
What anybody else thinks you know what I mean I have Star Wars podcast no one pays me for that I just have so much fun doing it that like I’m not going to stop I don’t care if I don’t get paid for five years I’m still going
To keep doing it who cares what anybody else thinks so like if you want to start a podcast do it secondly there’s a lot of free tools at your disposal you will have to buy some things right you’re going to need a computer to facilitate it
Like uh if your computer has a webcam that’s fine to start but if you want to you can spend 100 bucks on an HD webcam right or if you get to the point where you want to get a little bit more extravagant you can buy a digital camera
And use cam link which is what we use here to get a better picture right you can use lighting or you can record during the day if you have to but you can go cheap on equipment if you need to you can even find microphones that are
Not overly expensive but on a daily basis it’s actually free there are services that are straight up free to host a podcast a lot of them that have buil in algorithms that can help you grow your show and so it’s funny how o over the years the the methods uh with
Which you would get into this industry have changed you know like it used to be you’d go knock on a radio station and be like hey can I work the the board until until finally one day you get to fill in for somebody on a Saturday night
And maybe you’re good at it right or maybe you go right for fan sided I wrote for fansided briefly when that when I thought that was a method to get into it although right now I don’t think it’s a very good method but like there there
Used to be all these different ways to get in and like now it’s different like the these tools are available for you to promote your content at your house and from there if you make quality content people will find it that’s what the algorithms do the algorithms are the the
Ultimate meritocracy when it comes to this kind of stuff people watch if there’s watch time it just gets advertised to more people and so starting record all your podcasts on video so like if you’re doing a podcast with your buddies make sure everything’s getting videotaped if you need to like
Like uh Zoom calls have video recording built in streamyard has video recording built in it’s easy enough to do that right once you record your podcast release it on the podcast feeds there’s a completely free podcast service called Spotify for podcasters completely free that’s where I host two suns podcast my
Star Wars podcast right then you can put it on YouTube as well take the video put it on YouTube Don’t overly if you have time to overly obsess with editing sure but don’t overly obsessed with graphics and editing and stuff it’s your content that’s going to end up winning at the
End of the day right but put it up on YouTube YouTube is completely free and then from there YouTube has a built-in algorithm YouTube as your your subscriber base builds as your subscribers uh watch your videos as they have high watch times on your videos it continues to push your content out to
Other people you can build thumbnails for free with apps like canva it’s really easy to do and then from there use social media to your advantage Tik Tok excellent algorithm I’ve gained my Star Wars podcast has like 4,000 something Tik Tok Tik Tok uh subscribers because I’ve consistently or followers I
Should say because I’ve consistently put clips of the show on there and then I just use that to direct people to YouTube or to the podcast Instagram reals another great way to do it Twitter is actually ironically like the least powerful platform there is but it is a
Useful platform in its own way but like that’s all free what I just said other than the equipment everything I just said is free record get a video put the put the recording on Spotify for podcasters put the video on YouTube advertise it on social media and as long
As you’re having fun doing it and you’re putting your heart and soul into it you have a really good chance especially with the the tools that are at your disposal from there just have a base understanding that you are uh uh dealing with a flooded field and what I mean by
That is as I’ve just described how easy it is to to uh to actually put podcast content out there understand that lots of people are doing it and because lots of people are doing it the people that will rise from uh from the group into having success are the people that put
Their heart and soul into it and so like you like if you’re going to do it and do it halfast just understand that it’s probably more just for fun right but if you pour your heart and soul to it you have a better chance and then lastly I
Would just say lean into who you are don’t try to pretend to be anybody else lean into who you are because at the end of the day the only way anyone’s going to you know embrace your content is if it’s authentic and so again that’s just
Like a little brief overview but uh and uh you guys I keep my um direct messages open on social media I can’t get to all all of them uh but I do try so like if you have a question anything specific along those lines feel free to drop it
Into my direct messages and we can have a chat about it next question two questions actually uh how do the Thunder win the NBA Finals with the Lori Markin in trade and what’s your favorite Christmas New Year’s traditions uh so first of all with the uh Thunder though
I look at it pretty simply but right now there are two gaping flaws uh for the the Oklahoma City Thunder in my opinion a lack of age and experience and a lack of size and so those two flaws end up being something that causes me to to be
Reticent to take Oklahoma City seriously as a team that can Hoist the trophy they can be dangerous I I I’ve said this with the nerd s guys yesterday I expect them to be a championship Contender for a long time I just think this year it’s a
It’s a it’s a really long shot for them to actually Hoist the trophy for those two reasons so Lori marinan doesn’t necessarily give you any more experience but what he does is he gives you more size and so it addresses one of your Prim concerns there which would make
Them significantly uh better in my Opinion
Jason Timpf discusses whether Jalen Williams’ year two performance for the Oklahoma City Thunder is currently being underrated around the NBA and how a trade for the Utah Jazz’ Lauri Markkanen would impact OKC’s NBA Finals hopes.

Just…let the kids develop lol. You wanna raise the class average? Teach the kids.
Why are so many pushing this trade? The thunder don’t need Markkaren, I just don’t get it, it’s like no one has any original thought any more just push whatever you see and gets clicks online smh.
Plus this title run bs has gotta stop. And I’m a huge thunder fan, live in okc but if anyone has any knowledge of the nba knows winning in the playoffs and going deep in the playoffs takes steps, specially with a team this young. It would be huge for this team to just win a series.
I’m down with whatever presti decides to do.
I’d rather trade for Mikal Bridges
Two Suns podcast is about to get a subscription. Can't wait to hear it.
Is he even up for trade there’s a report saying it’s wishful thinking he gets trade
Honestly, Lauri wont add anything special to this team. Keep the team as it is. If they were to add, its just to add some vets for experience if we go deep into the playoffs.
OKC is at the bottom of the league in def rebounding. Also, in their losses teams bigs get such easy looks. Look at that Lakers game and what Rui, AD, and Lebron did and what Joker, Gordon, and MPJ do every time they play. Markkanen doesn't fix this and Ainge is impossible to make a fair trade with. Okc is way better overpaying for a young defensive minded big/wing on a much cheaper contract.
I don't think that the Thunder even need Markkanen or KD or anyone else, they can contend right now (with what they already have) but without any pressure and without the need for immediate results… They are fine! 👌
OKC just blew out the Champs by 26 on their own court. Granted, Denver was coming off a b2b but OKC played 3 games in 4 nights against all top tier opponents. I get it, Lauri would turn this OKC team into an unstoppable threat on offense and their defense is already top 5 but why not see what happens this year and then make the big trade next year. Sam is too smart to put all of his chips in early and plus, Utah GM wants a lot.
For me I think they need a guy like OG Anunoby. He’s adds toughness and size in the wings. He will be a game changer in any series for this OKC team. They can easily acquire him with the picks they got and still have enough to make a blockbuster trade later on.
The ringer is so whack bro. Bill tryna push this trade agenda hard
Nuggets in5
I live in Utah, the Jazz aren’t actually going to trade Lauri. He has way to much potential and everybody in Utah loves him
Reaves to OKC for Giddy!
Low scoring basketball is BAD tv…
High scoring football is good tv….
Absolutely, I was already excited about Jalen Williams last year, it's easy to forget he's still that young.
Nah. Keep the squad as is. The boys are cooking right now.
Pfffffff leave the okc alone. You never knew they existed anyway, now u all try to destroy them
Knowing Sam Presti he looking at somebody totally different we don’t know about 😂😂
Shout Out to Two Suns Pod!!!!!!!!!!!
Im not gonna lie, your take on OKC been really off lmao. First Markannen isn’t fitting with the OKC second off you said they couldnt hang with the top dawgs but they just beat the first seed and the nba champ both by blowouts.. please learn your subject before coming on youtube just spreading nonesense
Thank you for being the only guy talking the appropriate amount about OKC in the national media
I want Markanen on the Warriors!
