When will the mainstream media stop with the Knicks for clicks lol Knicks…..oh wait
HowYaBin28
No shit. Anyone that thinks the Knicks didn’t win this deal is out of their goddamn mind.
bronxbomber2313
I was listening to fan reactions on WFAN and everyone is crying and complaining about how the team got fleeced. Like are we even watching the same game? This is a great deal and should be praised, not trashed on sports radio.
UllrCtrl
It hurts to see Quickley go but they both had to leave, not familiar with OG’s game but from what I hear he’s going to work really well with Randle and Brunson
Chr1s678
If you look at it without any context it looks like an overpay, but it works out better because RJ was a bad contract and paying RJ + IQ isn’t better than paying one superior player. Gives more room to add someone like Donovan Mitchell or Embiid down the line
NYdude777
We got the best plyer in the deal and a big who was VERY good just last season for 2 guys who are going to cost 50 mill collectively next season.
W all day
arem1460
Oh no we just traded an underachieving player and a player who was never coming back next year for one of the best wing defenders in the league and a needed big guy without giving up any first round draft picks
datatadata
I really like RJ and his professionalism on and off the court, but getting rid of his contract is definitely a W for us
ElectronicZucchini84
I think they be harsh on the Raptors tbh. I got no love for em but thought this was a great deal for both sides.
beanie_mac
I jumped into a Twitter space, heard hella ppl saying we lost the trade and got worse, and immediately closed it.
Mfs are delusional and overrate our players so much it’s not even funny.
awrk
I do think we probably gave up a bit more overall value than we got back, but the trade still undoubtedly makes us better due to fit.
Will be interesting to see how the rotation pans out tho. I think either Flynn or Ragu needs to come off the bench as an initiator, whether that means putting Grimes back in the starting lineup to have Deuce play with Ragu on the second unit or replacing Quickley with Flynn and leaving Deuce out of the rotation.
zeezee2k
Tell me how did the raptors get a C, OG is basically gone after the season for them. Unlike IQ, a RFA they can match any offer
press_Y
Clear as day that this trade is a huge W
jbrunsonfan
I think this is a win-win trade. The raptors turned a pending unrestricted free agent into 4 years of control over 2 promising young players that have proven they can start in this league. That’s at least a B
manfromfuture
The second rounder is from Detroit which is basically a late first since they are so terrible. Was that the thing that finally got this trade done?
Knicks94
I don’t think we had the money to pay Quick sadly. Il settle with OG.
HenryKissingersDEAD
Rangers are looking good. Knicks making moves. A yo Yankees, let’s kill it this spring! As for the NY Giants… we have a lot of work to do lol
Fishmike52
Knicks got Thibs a big all NBA defender… we kept all our picks, we gave up IQ which is a big loss but most understood why he was a poor long term fit.

OG is 26… when he and Mitch are healthy it the death of your pick and roll
icebucket22
Oh man didn’t realize we have a game to tonight! We should’ve waited until tomorrow!
rydogs
I’m very surprised (or maybe not since we’re the Knicks) that the immediate reaction was we lost. Like all these casual NBA fans think Quickley is an all-star? Where these people been the last few years??
I think the trade makes sense for both sides, but taking the emotions out I *really* like it for us.
JohnnyfromNY
I don’t put much stock into these “grades” but we are a better team now. Let’s face it, for all the high hopes we had, RJ was absolutely terrible. He hurt the team. Quick is a really good player. Would’ve been nice to keep him but OG is better than both Quick and Barrett. There’s another trade on the horizon for sure. OG is the player the Knicks brass was hoping Grimes would become. The guy is shooting 49% this season. It’s a huge upgrade
Immediatewhaffle
Well we know these are always spot on…
Now I’m just brimming with confidence

NYK: A- TOR: B+
Thats the real and honestly quite a fair trade. The younguns will ball out and be given a longer leash and latitude to learn and grow
OG will fit in nicely w the current Knicks roster; lockdown D, efficient offense. Will be a crowd fave
IndividualStriking91
Imagine if we roll out hart, grimes,og in the playoffs, would hold teams to like 78 points
em7924
Damn.. sucks to see IQ go.. but getting OG is gonna help us alot.. especially with Mitch gone for the season.. imagine if we had Mitch anchoring at Center.. we’d be killing it right now
gnollNothingAtoll229
Part of the trade that wasn’t announced… We drop the lawsuit, and they don’t pursue tampering charges.
aesop_fables
OG can guard 1-5. We got the best player in the deal. It’s obvious that we won this trade as spending 50-60M on IQ and RJ isn’t smart.
Coach_V
Two things can be true at once.
1) We can be sad that we lost two home grown players.
AND
2) We improved.
I really wanted RJ and Quik to be long term Knicks. It would have been dope to see the team grow from where we were to where we went to be. And yes—RJ had an improved every year. And he *could* have continued to improve.
And Yes. Quik was playing outstanding basketball. He was fun to watch. And, IMHO, he could be a significant piece (6MOTY) of a championship team. But if he’s our third, that equates to a 2nd round exit. Which is fine if that’s the goal. 5 years ago—I would have killed for a 2nd round exit.
But as the team improves, the goal is combine assets and try and improve. Could it backfire? Absolutely.
But this isn’t trading the farm for Eddy Curry. This was a financially prudent move, keeping several assets for another move, and adding a skill set of need (3 n D) and hoping everyone else can fill the gaps with more minutes being available.
So I think it was a good move. And I’m sad they are gone.
So-_-It-_-Goes
Knicks Front office has been suspect.
Oh is nice. But IQ could easily be the best player in this deal. That can happen this year.
eenriq200
I loved this trade everyone’s bad attitude towards it is annoying, RJs time was up and Quickley was the only leverage we had and he did not want to be a 6th man like what more do y’all want.
PotentialNo3672
That’s harsh for Raptors. You have to be careful with the contract you give IQ you could end up really overpaying for a streaky shooter but his offensive game is so fun to watch gonna miss him
Helpful_Chard2659
Definitely not a C for the Knicks. IQ is going to walk next year unless the Knicks offer a $25 million per year deal.
Essentially this trade is RJ + 2nd rounder for OG. It’s an upgrade for the Knicks.
If you’ve seen RJ play, he’s inconsistent. While IQ is great, he’s going to be off this team by next year.
YurtlesTurdles
I really can’t believe this FO managed to deal with Toronto with the lawsuit ongoing and not have to massively overpay. When I saw the trade it just said +draft capital, was pumped when it was 1 2nd instead of multiple firsts.
Gonna miss IQ though
Losdangles24
I loved RJ, but his salary does not match what he brings to the table. Maybe he’ll improve, but I don’t think it’s worth the risk of paying him $25 mil plus a year to find out.
What hurts is losing quickley. He’s a legitimate instant offense and has a skill set tailor made for todays nba. I’m shocked we let him go
par1sh
1 and 4 are set, they are building around brunson and randle. there is only 2 franchise impactful 5’s: jokic (never being traded) and embiid (was looking like maybe early on but no chance now).mitch when healthy is perfect here. to compliment brunson and randle, we need someone at the 3 and they need to be a 2 way player, someone who could space the floor and shoot 3s and defend the opposing best player 1-4 .. best available is paul george, jaylen brown and then bridges – they all are not being traded. So knicks got OG for quick who was going to be gone in the offseason for a starting role and money, which he deserves. for the people saying why didn’t we just pay him and start him at the 2, who are we going to get at the 3 to make this team truly compete?! the FO clearly sees the 2 spot is where we can upgrade to make that happen so they sold high on quick and shed Rj’s salary and filled the void at the wing spot to upgrade at the 2 down the line. i imagine mitchell is the target
