Which Team Actually Had a Chance against the 96 Bulls

Which Team Actually Had a Chance against the 96 Bulls

And now enjoy your sha David TV play with a hey guys this is Dominique Wilkins and this is sh this is G hey this is b n fans what’s up this is Vince Carter here hey what’s up this is Matt bars if you’re an old school NBA fan like I am

Make sure you check out the basketball time machine with my man sea Davis hey guys how’s it going welcome back to the basketball time machine my name is Shawn David thanks for tuning in let’s talk some legendary old school NBA basketball back in the 9s obviously the

Chicago Bulls were the one and only team that nobody could beat at least in six years and in today’s episode I want to take a look at which of the six teams that play the Bulls in the NBA Finals actually had a legit chance so I will be

Ranking those teams to see which team actually was the greatest that the Bulls played against in the NBA Finals back in the 90s but before we start with that let me ask you guys for a small favor please subscribe to the channel and like the video if you enjoy the content all

Right you guys I would say let’s get right into It so so the first team that I want to be talking about is the 1991 Los Angeles Lakers so coming in at number six now the first thing that we have to put into the right perspective is that we’re not talking about the showtime Lakers anymore Kareem Abdul Jabar had retired

And some of the players that were Sensational in the 80s were slowly but surely declining if it was a James Worthy who was kind of losing a little bit of his speed in his athleticism and some of the other supporting casts it was not the greatest Lakers time of that

‘ 880s 90s era and to me I also felt that because the Bulls had just beaten the Detroit Bad Boy Pistons and they sweep them the bus were so hungry that I really felt like there was no team at that time who could really be a challenge for them they had figured it

Out they were so hungry they were I want to say unbeatable in that playoff series so to me the Lakers did not really have a chance even though they were a good team but not a great team so not a chance at all so coming in at number

Six this is what you live for to play Michael Jordan in the finals you bet to e three on two for the Bulls Michael in the drive in for the right P oh a spectacular B by Michael Jordan the BS blowing the Lakers out and the Chicago blls have won their first ever

NBA championship we’re going to [Applause] Disney coming in at number five is the 1993 Phoenix Suns now hear me out first now obviously we know that that team was loaded we had great players like Charles Barkley Kevin Johnson Dan Marley uh Denny a we had uh Tom Chambers Mark W so they had a sensational team and oh

Richard Dumas Sensational player of the bench who had super high potential but and this is the one thing why I felt that they did not stand a chance against the BS they were not a great defensive team which was highlighted when you take a look at the stats Michael Jordan was

Averaging 41 points on shooting above 50% from the field and that was because well nobody could guard Michael Jordan and especially on that Phoenix roster and the other thing was that Michael Jordan had a personal Vendetta with Den Marley Jordan wanted to prove that Den Marley could not guard him to yeah

Basically um get on the nerves of Jerry Krauss we know that story but I think that was the main reason why they did not stand a chance and again Charles Barkley was in his prime and I think it was the best that we have seen Charles

Barkley play in his entire career but if you don’t if you are not a great defensive team there is no chance that you can beat Michael Jordan and the B so that’s why they are coming in at number five but Jordan would simply be too much

MJ hops down the lane the left hand layup is a beauty oh what a pretty and despite Barkley’s valant efforts the sun still trailed with time running out and faced the disastrous Prospect of a second home loss and now they found themselves scrambling to stay in the game throw in

Oh P threw it off the back of what a play he fooled the sun post pass top of the key right side now to Oliver Miller who has his pocket pick for the Blind Side by Mar oh here he comes he’s wi but he can it down

Coming in at number four out of the 1996 Seattle SuperSonics and this is a tough one because I actually feel that they could potentially have been even better if George car would have let Gary Payton guard Michael Jordan a little bit earlier and even though Michael Jordan

Still denies that Gary Payton had no effect on him I think it was obvious you could see it on yeah you could see it I mean if you have healthy eyes you could see that Gary pton was really giving Michael Jordan a tough time even though obviously nobody could stop Michael

Jordan but still Jordan had to work a little bit harder but the one thing why I still feel that the Bulls would have won that series is because we are talking about the greatest Bulls uh team of all time and we are talking about the greatest team of all time we’re talking

About Michael Jordan uh Dennis Rodman Scotty Pippen Ron Harper Tony kach we’re talking about a team I mean you had the best uh player in the NBA you probably had the best defender in in Dennis Rodman or Scotty Pippin or Michael Jordan pick your poison you had the uh

Greatest bench player in Tony kach of that season you had the greatest three-point shooter in Steve cerr you had the best coach there was no team in NBA history who could have beaten that team in that series and if for example you would have placed the Seattle

SuperSonics against the I don’t want to say or let’s say the 1993 Chicago Bulls or the 199 eight Chicago Bulls I think they had a legit chance of beating the Bulls but not that 1996 team and that’s why I ranked that Seattle Su Sonics team at number four perfect

Basketball the bo side the Sonic with a 142 advantage of the second quarter Jordan able to capitalize the Poise the confidence and determination evident for the sonics today and the next team that I want to talk about so coming in at number three are the 1997 Utah Jess now with the Jazz

This is something which is beautiful to me as a basketball fan who loves the game for what it was supposed to be if you go through the team individually and compare the bulls with the Jazz the Jazz would stand no chance why the Jazz were not as deep skill-wise as the Bulls but

Even though they didn’t have that deep team still they show what great team basketball can accomplish they had John Stockton obviously they had John um Jeff hornack they had car Malone anine Carr but great role players in terms of knowing how to work as a team as a

Collective and and be productive and even though the Jazz lost and I still believ that there was no chance on Earth that they could have beaten the 1997 Bulls I still think that they performed on a sensational level they played way above what they’re supposed to perform

When you look at the rosters on paper and yeah just this is a shout out to you guys of the Utah Jazz of 1997 I think you were Sensational and we also owe you a lot for a great final [Applause] Series coming in at number two a team that I feel that potentially had a chance of beating the Chicago Bulls it’s the 1992 Portland Trey Blazers now this is the thing the Portland TR Blazers were a loaded team obviously they only had one true superstar in Prime Clyde Drexler but if

You go through the roster you had guys like Clifford Robinson Terry Porter uh you had um a sensational Sensational Sensational deep team in ter in terms of role players with Kevin Duckworth and and you you guys know the team I don’t have to name everybody but I feel that

If it wasn’t for the prime 1992 Chicago Bulls who just had won their first championship and grew uh not only skill-wise but also matured if it was another Bulls team I I would say like the 1993 Bulls team I think they had a legit chance of beating that scene and

Not because the Bulls were were uh not that great but the PA and Trey Blazers to me in general were one of the greatest to never win the NBA championships so they had a chance still I would like uh eight of 10 times it would give the N to the Bulls but they

At least had a chance so they’re coming in at number two 32 for there’s J for three yes did you see that one Michael indicting he can’t believe it and now coming in at number one the only team that I felt like ooh that was a really really close one the

1998 Utah Jaz and the reason why is because with that B Team even though we’re still talking about one of the greatest teams of all time they had some issues and it started throughout the regular season the the issues with Dennis rotman who was not locked in as

Much then you had the Scotty Pippen issues also with his uh injuries then Michael Jordan still in his prime but he was weakened because he had to carry so much of the load during the regular season and you had the feeling with the Utah Jazz not only did they have the

Home court advantage but you had the feeling that they had even more matured and they were so locked in and they really really would do whatever it takes and yeah as we all know the Bulls won uh won four games the Jazz won two games

But I felt like oh that was a really close one is I still believe like six or seven out of 10 times the Bulls would have won but that Utah Jazz team they really had a chance still I’m very happy how it turned out I’m pretty sure most

Of you guys too but anyway you guys that was my list now let me know in the comments below how do you think about uh not only that list but how would you rank each individual Championship run every single season where the Bulls won the championship who had the legit

Chance let me know in the comments below and hopefully I’ll see you next time on the bask ball time machine

  1. 98 Pacers would be my #1 and Jordan said the same thing in The Last Dance. Surprised it didn't get a mention. Had to double-check that the list wasn't "Which Finals Team Actually Had a Chance…"

  2. Lot's of people forget that one of the toughest opponents for the Bulls to reach the NBA finals was the 92,93 New York knicks!! Sometimes it felt like those series were the real finals, because of the intensity and physically it was played!! The unforgettable Bulls of the 90's!! Were something special to watch!! I was lucky to attend the game between Bulls vs Lakers at the Forum of Inglewood during the "last Dance "season!! !!

  3. Normally there is no Fanboy shit on this Chanel this time it‘s just BS … just the comment no team in History would have had a Chance is so overdone. And the ranking is laughable … Sonics were the strongest Team the Bulls had to face by far

  4. The Indiana Pacers took the bulls to 7 games in the eastern conference finals with Larry Bird as coach. They should have been on that list

  5. I don't know if I disagree with any of the Finals takes, but I think the '97 Knicks vs the '97 Bulls would have been a competitive series. One of the series we were robbed of seeing along with a Shaq/Penny Orlando trilogy.

  6. Just me maybe but outside of championship series, I think is where Jordan was tested the most. I would say the series that went to game 7 with the pacers and Reggie Miller was the closest he had to losing during the championship runs.

  7. As a log time Utah Jazz fan, I could clearly see a decline in 97-98 season, it was beginning of the end. Both 95-96 and 96-97 teams were better. It is just because Bulls themselves degraded in their last champions year Utah had a chance.
I know, many would disagree but among the all six opponents in the finals, I would rank Supersonics as #1. Yeah, right, performance was not great neither the start. But they had hell of a team. By the way Jazz won 3 games in wcf, and could even win the series where '98 Jazz probably would take only one game.
And at the end the toughest competition Jordan always had before finals, those Knicks and Pacers teams they were great. Probably Rockets could succeed against Bulls.
And one last comment, many fans judge by the results after all those years, back then people were excited, it was not seen as nobody, nobody had any chance to win against Jordan and bulls.
    Happy new Year to everyone!

  8. The Bulls opposition really needed a third guy to step up to get them over the hill in order to beat them

  9. If it’s a Western Conference team, it’s the 97 Jazz and the 94 Rockets. 94 Rockets were at their prime and Dream’s 94 team will give the 96 Bulls a good challenge.

  10. The Sonics of 1996 had more chances than any other team, but Karl didn't coach the team with the correct attitude.

  11. To me that list makes no sense. The 96 Bulls were the best team of their 6 championships and the Jazz could not beat the 97 and 98 Bulls, both of which were significantly weaker than the 96 Bulls.

So the Jazz were good, but very far away from beating the 96 Bulls and thus should not be in the top3.

The most interesting team would probably have been the Rockets.

  12. The Championship-era Olajuwon Rockets would've given the Bulls fits and possibly even beaten them.

  13. It was said Jordan had a long shot weakness, can I suggest a video about his half court (and beyond) shots? Greetings from Mexico

  14. The Sonics had the best chance. Except they waited too long to play Payton on Jordan and didn't account for Rodman.

  15. 1992 Blazers are a 15 pt lead in the 4th qtr away from game 7. 1993 Suns are a Paxson miss from game 7. 1996 Sonics were a GP on Jordan adjustment away from making it more interesting. 1997 jazz came super close & had the Bulls in a bad place in game 5. 1998 Jazz were one stop away from hosting game 7 with no Pippen.

1998 Jazz & 1993 Suns were the closest imo.

  16. A chance ?. Nobody, I believe they would have beaten anyone else. Some kids today, they believe they would lock Michael Jordan up, not me I don't believe it. Mike would dunk on the Greek Freak. Jordan would dunk on your entire team and drop 60. To beat Mike, you need to become psycho in your mind.

  17. every team in league now would have chance to beat bulls, if they played in league now they would be a horrible offensive team, Besides Jordan they were terrible shooting team. 3 starters eere 60 pct free throw shooters , horrible 3-point shooting team. and no one can bring up Steve Kerr because in 18 finals games with bulls he a g 3 pta a game on 25 pct shooting

  18. The anticipation for the '98 Finals was so high. I was a Jazz fan and my roommate supported the Bulls. Whoever's team lost had to buy the other guy a dinner. I bought four times and he bought two, but it still felt like there was hope for a Utah upset.

  19. Per Jordan himself, they have no answer to Hakeem, so the Houston Rockets has the legitimate chance against the Bulls among the recent contenders during that era.
