This was so evident just watching them but happy he was able to confirm it. Everyone wanted to do their thing. Marcus Morris even said after we lost that Cavs game 7 that he wasn’t sure what his role on the team would be. No one knew but everyone wanted the ball. It’s a shame bc I think that roster was the most loaded Danny ever built: Smart Rozier, Kyrie, Brown, Tatum, Hayward, Horford, Morris, Baynes. That’s fucking ridiculous, if everyone was able to make it work

The difference between then and now is that this year they do not care about individual stats just wins. Wish that was the mindset back then because that team was stacked.

This is great insight and makes a lot of sense

  4. This one still hurts. Still remember the Gayward for Hayward memes.

Amazing really, how quickly Brad/Danny have been able to tweak the roster and give us championship calibre teams.

Haven’t been as confident as I am this season though….. the team this year just seems connected on another level.

lol I love how he mentions all our good players and then Marcus. Everyone really had to pretend Marcus was good just so he wouldn’t flip the fuck out

I think Terry and Marcus Morris averaged more shots a game than JB or JT that year. It was a problem

I simply will never accept Gordon Hayward hate, how his career played out with the injuries just sucks man. He came back 4(!) weeks sooner than he was supposed to on a bad ankle to play against Miami in the ECF, and everyone clowned him when he could barely move but it was either him or Semi.

I know there’s a lot of memes now about “basketball terrorists” but the amount of people (especially in this sub) that loved Marcus Morris is insane to me. Watching him get the ball swung to him just for him to dribble the air out and shoot it, killing the flow of the offense time after time makes me wanna dig my eyes out with a spoon. He was 3rd in FGA and 4th in usage on that stacked team in his second year. He should have been shipped out for something like a backup big. They were more then set at the wing. (Yes I know the Embiid 3-0 sign in his face was hilarious I loved it, but he didn’t fit the next year)

Terry should have been traded as well, he was playing for a contract and just didn’t fit after the ECF appearance.

Also, I would kill to hear some stories about Kyrie behind the curtain. From what we’ve heard from guys like Gorman, and some reporters there had to be some wild shit. Dude went to the all-star game and just said eh, I’m out. I got KD instead lol

I don’t know man, as more time passes I just don’t think we were good enough even with the drama that went on that season. The 17-18 team that made it to game 7 of the conference finals I think was in a much less talented conference. A lot of times in the nba it comes down to who’s your best guy. We saw Tatum put his nuts on the Sixers head in game 7 last year and gave their asses 51, as talented as Kyrie was and is he wasn’t the caliber of Kawhi or Giannis as a player and Tatum and Brown hadn’t emerged yet as what they are today to be able to go toe to toe with those guys either. We should’ve done better than losing in 5 games to the bucks in that embarrassing fashion but I don’t think that team even if the drama wasn’t there was beating the Raptors even if we got past the Bucks. We didn’t have a top 10 player, we do now

Hayward absolutely sucked when he was coming back from injury. Brad was feeding him minutes hoping he’d get back into form. It was clear he wasn’t playing at a level to deserve those minutes and he wasn’t getting better. Definitely caused discord among the multitude of players who deserved time more than he did.

There’s a great chance the stories he can’t talk about are about dealing with spaceshot Kyrie and his fragile ego.

I think Brad learned from this that you can’t just slam talent into a team and hope it works. Not saying it’s 100% will fail, but very low chance it will succeed. Beside Talent the personality need to match to be able to fit the team. I like our current Roster and while I like a trade to bolster the team, the player have to be able to accept the role given by the team.

With this stacked team that is ball-dominant, Marcus Smart also want to lead the team, can’t imagine it will work really.
