[Alex Golden] Siakam can extend with Toronto up until the day before free agency. However, teams that trade for him can’t complete an extension with him because you can only extend 6 months after the trade and 6 months after 12/31 is the start of free agency.

FYI. Siakam is guaranteed to enter free agency for any team not named the Raptors. The Warriors are not trading for a player they can only get for a guaranteed half season. It’s a complete waste of assets. Why would a team (not just the Warriors, but any team) give the Raptors assets they could keep long term in exchange for a player they may have for a few months max? As for the Warriors, specifically, IF they traded for him and wanted to re-sign him in free agency, they’d be able to offer him more money and years because they’d have his bird rights but with the 2nd apron and luxury tax situation being what it is already, I don’t see any scenario where they break the bank to secure Siakam.

  1. You don’t do this trade at all. Not worth the risk. His agents could say one thing then Siakam could do another, fuck no.

[This](https://x.com/fakelogic/status/1741946135726661777?s=46) might be relevant for anyone thinking we might sign him this summer. We still won’t have any cap space even if Klay walks. He also wants a 4 year deal, I don’t see FO committing to this, Steph probably won’t be in his prime by then. I just don’t see this happening through trade or a FA signing next summer.

Siakam is literally a worse 3 point shooter than Draymond, we don’t want him, the spacing would be terrible.

This is the guy that will bring us Championships once we wake up dump Kerr, Klay and Draymond. Loony is gone too because he doesn’t smile nice. Anyone under 6’8″ on the roster should be traded. They had 2 years to bring home 2 rings and they only brought 1. Can’t trust them anymore. Make the trade!

Yea you only trade for Siakam if you feel confident you can resign him. Pretty sure whoever trades for him will be the ones to resign him.

  6. Seems like most here wants us to do nothing and not give Steph a chance this year. Then off-season let Klay/Cp3 expire while not having cap to sign anyone, continue to be mid until Steph retires here, cool.

Maybe Laker nation is desperate enough for it. Would love to see them completely gut their team and future for nothing
