POSTGAME REACTION: Miami Heat at Los Angeles Clippers, 1/1/2024.

Was it something systematically was just a matter of what they have and just fight the good fight but against the Zone if they’re going to hit those threes yeah I have to go to work um and we have to get to work on that uh defensively we can be better you know

That’s not taking away from anything that the Clippers uh did um you know we struggled again uh in one-on-one situations whether it was in the man or than Zone when they just kind of isolated uh in the zone and um repeated uh attacks off the dribble um there’s

Some you know that these guys are great players so if they hit it over the top you know for uh something if they get to their spots but uh the ones that they broke our defense down and got either a layup or right at The Rim those were uh

Just way too costly obviously you guys are missing one of your switch killers in G I don’t care about that no I I don’t care about that how do you feel you guys fared as far as just against the switching defense with bam kind of

You know lead the charge there no we did not do well no bam Zord and you even when big bigger obviously were limited on Wings playing bam and Kevin together a bunch also I mean just bam fighting that fight getting to the foul line trying to keep

It competitive your thoughts on his yeah I mean I thought that was one of the the you know our first quarter offensively was good the movement uh sharing the ball uh working the offense to get what we wanted to uh and and playing intentionally uh I thought that was the

Best quarter uh and then the second thing would be our aggressiveness um to be able to get to the free throw line those were the two positives offensively uh but the rest of it uh was pretty sloppy you know the turnovers there um you know at the end of the third quarter

When it when it was a 68 10-point game then all of a sudden it the turnovers just they were able to blow the game open we only had 14 for the game but they they danger had 30 points off those those turnovers they’re basically pick sixes going the other way those can be

Extremely deflating plays and um you know we just have to be more intentional and and we’ve shown for the majority of the Season we’ve been very intentional offensively and uh you know the last couple games we’ve gotten away from that cying through lineups um Jamal moves

Back in today I assume that’s because of their scoring and their wings just your thought process as you keep having to craft different lineups and get in the call tonight we’ll do whatever we have to do everybody’s you know ready um nobody cares you know if we have guys

Out and we’re not making any excuses for it we had enough guys to get this win uh tonight uh we had a lot of our you know main guys uh in this game uh tonight uh and they just outplayed us and and you have to credit them and and we’ll work to get

Better all right thank you um um and also just unfortunately we couldn’t get the win um but you know still happy to come out here and play they all came together put it all together got some sweets up there so everyone can come and I’m just happy

That they all were able to come and um support yeah I mean this first game they got to see just um very happy they were able to come out um especially at this time in their life uh just be able to still support me through through it all is is is really

Special um just what was it like first game at crypto and then you had some tough defensive assignments going up against you know hard in one possession kawhai and Paul George I mean what was that like that was such a tough challenge uh yeah I mean those guys are

Where they are for a reason um you know tough challenge for sure uh just being able to be on the floor with those guys um and just trying to do whatever I can to get stops they’re tough guys to guard um you know unfortunately we didn’t come

Out with the win tonight but uh we’ll be better um in the next game hi May for you now this is your job you’ve gotten used to playing in the NBA but is there something about having kids you grew up playing with watching you that kind of

Makes this journey seem you know surreal and a sense from how far you’ve come from Camaro to here yeah I mean when you put it in perspective I mean there’s only been what like 4500 players ever put on an NBA jersey so when you put it in great perspective

I mean um it’s just really special to be able to do that um you know there guys along the way who would love to be in this position unfortunately he couldn’t make it but that’s why you know you have blessings and I’m just so blessed to be

In this position that I am right now hi bu noes um of course you are the visiting team tonight but it felt more like a home coming for you um di talked a little bit about it U the crowd was cheating for you how was it um how

Special was it for you personally just the experience and also that it so happened to be Mexican heritage Knight and and you’re one of the very few Mexican players who have made it to the NBA so so how does it all make you feel

Um yeah I mean the home the home crowd I I definitely felt and heard the love um from from the people in the crowd um so I just want to app shout out to everybody you know supporting me through all these years um like you said it’s it

Wasn’t a home game for us but uh felt like a home game for me and um I was just really happy to see all the support and now and just um to follow up on that do you think um Wednesday’s game is going to be a little bit different for

You um I mean in the way that you prepare and knowing having that feeling already in the back so to speak and and uh being here for your second homecoming but just a little bit different for you um yeah I mean I hope the difference is we get to win um

That’s about it yeah thank you thank you all right good thank you obviously this is a tough team to have to play without four leading Defenders with the guys you had out today how much of a challenge was it for you guys and uh spoke talked after the game about how

This team has to get better defensively at the point of attack well I think it’s always tough to play against uh you know without our guys you know with uh guys that really are you know for playing defense and uh one of the better two-way players in our league and Jimmy um and

You know Haywood and Caleb Josh and J Rich um it’s always tough especially you know then makes a tougher as playing against you know kawhai Paul George you know James and makes always a little bit tougher but um we still got to figure ways out to you know be disruptive and

Still find ways to try to get wins what about straight on at the point of attack even when the guy a lot of the guys were here SPO were saying That’s become problematic for this team guys getting beat off the dribble is that an effort

Thing is that a style thing is that you know going back to X andos kind of things I mean I think we’re playing against really talented offensive players um I think we you know sometimes we get into positions where they shift us and we open up and you know it’s just sometimes

You got to just find a way to keep your keep your man in front um you know I think basketball is you know filled with talented basketball players um you know you can’t really use your hands as much so you got to find ways to slide your

Feet put yourself in a position to be successful and um you know defensive end so you know just a working work in progress for us you guys want the Z a lot tonight do you feel like they found a rhythm as the game went on against that I mean we switched it up

Later but I felt like they felt they felt comfortable and we know we made them you know hesitate put the ball overhead and wait wait a little bit but you know Paul George had some big threes in the zone he kind of got a little bit

Of a rhythm in the zone and uh I think they even got more transition points than um you know they they usually give up or they usually get sorry that’s it thank you

  1. Heat Need everyone healthy this isn’t Spo’s fault. Availability is the most important part in a basketball team.

  2. Basically, what Eric is trying to say is clippers outplayed his men in every department n there's nothing he can do about it 😢😢
