Barrett on his homecoming/reception from crowd: “It meant a lot as the hometown kid coming in trying to get a win for the fans, trying to win for the country… This was special. Way better than any other time I’ve played here. This was a special one that I’ll always appreciate”

  1. It’s cool that he’s looking at it as Canada’s team. His dad was one of the only decent players on the national team back in his day. RJ beat team USA and won gold for us at u19. He really put the team on his back. I was frustrated with him at fiba. I was worried about some of those frustrations when the trade went down. I felt that way at points today too. 5:1 ast:TO is a prime example. However, I like how he carries himself. I like that he’s confident and determined. I think there will be growing pains but I trust that he’s serious about representing this team/community/city/country. That’s something that I can get behind.

Fyi, TIL raps were +6 and Knicks -7 in the trade according to Hollinger/PER/ESPN trade machine. That doesn’t mean anything but still makes me happy.

He had some tough plays but he was working and I love the pride. Let’s see what Darko can make of him.

I’m really digging this new generation of uber-patriotic Canadian NBA players like RJ and SGA

We salute you, RJ. I hope he’s here for a long time.

I just hope he doesn’t hog the ball from Barnes
