Really looking forward to seeing how these two do in the P&R. Both are super-efficient and will demand a lot of attention. If Pascal’s recent shot regression to the mean holds, Barrett continues to be a 37% shooter from the corner, then you’ve got 3 guys who can provide spacing, passing, slashing, and finishing. In a best case scenario, that P&R becomes a bread-and-butter play that unlocks so many secondary actions for our even higher-skilled playmakers.

That only happened ones, right?

Amazing how effective a roll man can be when the D can’t go under every screen.

Thank god he remembered he’s 7ft, 28 years old and can actually dunk a basketball 😅

Spacing is a hell of a drug

It was a slick pass-fake too.

Jak thrives in the pick and roll, he’s always been that way, it’s the reason he and FVV worked so well together last year
Jak isn’t a bad center but he needs a proper PG to feed him, most big centers in the NBA operate best in the pick-and-roll with a guard who can feed them
This is why roster construction is so important! you need pieces that fit together, you can’t have 7 Scottie Barnes on one team (I wish we could lol) so you need to find pieces that fit together and complement each other so that everyone can play their roll and do what they do best
Jak isn’t going to shoot threes and drive in transition…but he does have an elite pick and roll floater that’s almost automatic and he will clean up on the boards for you, set nsaty screens for his guards, and make some decent passes out of the post to shooters

Dribble handoffs/PnRs between IQ, Barnes, and Jakob will be tough to stop and fun to watch

This works so well because IQ is a legitimate shooting threat from almost anywhere the defense not only gravitates to IQ more but they also are paying attention to him much earlier
Those extra half seconds give anyone in pnr with IQ way more space if it is siakam or Barnes or Dennis or rj or whoever
Having just one starting caliber true guard player yes it makes a huge difference! 😎💎

Aside from some weird Darko rotations and poor foul management, it was very encouraging to be able to watch Raptor games now. But dear god Yak, work on them FTs. Jesus.
