[Slater] Pretty revealing Klay Thompson postgame soundbite about a conversation he had with Steve Kerr yesterday regarding the need to improve his negative energy, be a better mentor and enjoy the last chapter of his career rather than obsess over stats/performance (1:20)

Don’t know if people realize how massive this is.
Team ride or dies with klay energy and shot selection. Tonight he only took one bad shot! Was looking for his teammates all the time. And had an efficient night all the same.
I’m stoked af.
Huge paradigm shift for Klay. No doubt relieved of having to deal with poisonous pride and unrealistic comparisons of past performance.
It’s always a mental thing for him, he just needs to let go and have fun. He wears his heart on his sleeve, pretty big to come and say something it in a post game interview.
If Scaffolding Klay vibes returns, we are going on a run.
Hell yeah Klay
its stuff that’s part of a coach’s job like this that makes me never take any of us redditors’ criticism of Kerr’s coaching ability seriously. Like sure his rotations could be questionable at times, but what we see on the court is like 25% of a head coach’s job.
Conversations like this one he had with Klay is a huge part of the job, and we would have never known about it had Klay not talked about it here
This one hit different.
And that folks… is a good coach.
I just hope he sticks to this. His play was significantly better today. Looked to move the ball and make the right pass, took overall good shots. Didn’t feel the need to chuck anything up.
He plays like this more consistently it’s better for the team and better for him in the long run.
i think he knows, Steve knows, Steph knows, MDJ knows, Lacob knows. Everyone on GSW knows this.
Tonight he played like he is going to accept this role. But idk how long he can keep this mentality…
Sounds like a good reality check and change of perspective. Somewhat realize that he’s older and his game is changing, but also realize he can still be great to a degree that’s beneficial even if it’s not what he used to see in himself
I’m so damn glad he finally realized. He’s been forcing the issue since he came back on January 9th, 2022. This is genuinely such a huge turning point for Klay now. Can’t wait to see how much better we’ll be with him just letting the game come to him.

Hopefully this is the beginning of something great
Yes Klay, let’s go Klay!
People forget how short of time Klay has really been back from those major injuries, it hasn’t been a full two years yet. Didn’t he also have that mental hurdle in the off season even after they won the ring? He is his own worst enemy at times but it’s great to see he can admit that with a helping hand from Kerr. Huge turnaround game from him tonight, if he can continue to build synergy with the young guys, it could be huge as the season continues.
Please be the turning point.
I suspected that this was the issue, he wants to feel like himself again and sometimes you can put too much pressure on yourself.
Klay Thompson is an endlessly fascinating person.
I know I keep saying this and I know it’s counterintuitive but I genuinely think he’s the key. When he shoots well (not perfect but well), they can beat anyone. When he has one of those 20% nights, they can lose to anyone. I love the guy and honor his achievements – which have not been fully recognized here or elsewhere. I truly hope this is a turning point and he takes those little corrections which will undoubtedly help in a big way.
This is why I’ll never hate Klay.
Steve’s known these dudes for a decade and random Redditors still think they know how to deal with the players better than him😂
I’m never upvoting a Klay diss ever again.
My Captain 😁
Klay had 9 shots thru 3 quarters and dove for a ball. Total team player.
Wow. This is the Klay Thompson I ❤️
So glad to hear this. Bravo Klay 👏
