So they didn’t draft the best player available?

  2. WordsAreSomething

    Narratives switch up so fast.

Nobody was saying we needed someone who could play right away in the draft in the summer

  3. Theoneandonlylog

JHS as a big swing? This guy was projected to be an average NBA pg. No way they considered him big swing. he showed no superstar potential.

Whitmore wouldve been a big swing

  4. Bahamut727

We’re in win now mode with AD and Lebron, and didn’t draft a win now player, or hire a win now coach. Absolutely down horrendous

  5. StreakSnout

i still have hopes for jhs , he seems to play the right way and play confident while staying smart

  6. hojibryantfromthelak

I hate when fans think 19 year old rookies should contribute right away or they’re busts but JHS does not have any nba level skills at this point. Big miss from a usually dependent scouting team

  7. jonbemerkin

Honestly Cam Whitmore and JJJ were both the better picks.

It is what it is, draft blunders happen all the time.

    Guys…
“Some within Lakers”: Joey and Jesse (obviously.. only smart humans in that office)

The ones who made the decision: Rob and Jeanie.

    Simple

  9. TBH Ham would’ve wasted Jaime’s potential anyhow. Happy for my boy to get Spoelstra as his HC.

  10. isit65outsideor

Lakers drafted on potential which they should as they beed to get younger. JHS still has a future.

  11. LudwigNasche

Now everything makes sense. We drafted Dlo and Fino because their HUGE potential, superior athleticism and incredible basketball mind.

    Big swings for sure.

  12. needmoresleeep

I’d be fine with swing for the fences but JHS doesn’t show me that potential. His main strength is his physical strength, but he can’t shoot, pass, cut, finish, isn’t quick, etc. And it’s not like he’s physically gifted like a Kawhi. And he also plays a skill position but doesn’t seem to have the skills. He would be a bust even if Jaquez Jr wasn’t good. Anyone serviceable would have been better.

It’s crazy how much people judge rookie 20 year olds like their career is over. A guy like Steve Nash didn’t break out until his mid-late 20s.

  14. basednchillpilled92

This seems arbitrary since having our pick in our lineup immediately was not part of the plan.

  15. DJBliskOne

You guys have some shit patience.

    Remember Brandon Ingram’s first year?

    DLO’s first year?

    and a slew of others.

They all super sucked. People were yelling how much of a bust BI was.

  16. No-Equipment-20

I don’t really care. Hindsight is 20/20 and it’s really easy to say we should’ve picked [insert best player after our pick].

JHS is 20 and in year 1, anyone calling him a bust is a dumbass. He might be a bust or he might not, but if he develops JHS is a playmaking/defensive guard which we’ll always need.

  17. Lol how the narrative changes when the Lakers are not doing so hot. SMH, we all know Whitemore and JJJ were NBA ready.

  18. ChunkyMilkSubstance

JHS hasn’t panned out yet but this is such a dumb claim lol

  19. CabbageStockExchange

I wanted Jamie but it didn’t happen. JHS is our guy and I hope he develops and succeeds with us.

  20. ImprovementSilly2895

Lakers took a big swing on Westbrick and destroyed the last years of Lebrons career.

  21. _AgainstTheGrain_

Hindsight is 20/20. If people thought/knew JJJ would put up these numbers he would have went top 5.

  22. LeFatigue

Lol this hind sight ass shit. Why is this sub salivating over another tricking ass heat player?

  23. >even when they needed someone who could play now…

What? Our team was considered deep prior to the season starting. If there was ever a time to swing on a draft pick it was then. This revisionist history is getting out of hand.

  24. beast8955

Stop posting lakersdaily bullshit. It’s the most clickbait, low-effort “journalism” related to the Lakers.

Their entire article is based off another article where an “anonymous exec” had a take of “the Lakers blew it”.

We’re not even halfway through his rookie season people, stop overreacting

  25. TheMarathonCont1nues

Ham would’ve JJJ sitting on the bench or playing 5 mins a game.

  26. MrAppleSpoink

A big swing would’ve been Cam Whitmore. This is some SERIOUS bullshit.

  27. BusiestWolf

Tankathon is typically right about pros and cons and JHS had literally no pros and a million cons lol
