The Bulls NEED to move on from Zach LaVine – Michael Wilbon | NBA Today

Well you brought up Zack LaVine so let’s talk a little bit more about him he as you mentioned Billy Donovan said he’s expected to be back barring setbacks next week what can you tell us W about Chicago’s plan for Zack LaVine going forward I mean this is what Chicago

Needs from Zack LaVine they need him to be healthy and play and show he’s healthy and they need him to impact winning this team has played much much better without him when he’s been gone he has obviously seen that and I think teams around the league who are judging

Whether they would get involved in trade talks for Zack want to see those two things if Zack LaVine wants a trade if the Bulls want to find a trade they need him to show that he again is healthy and that he can impact winning and this is a player I

Think and you know perk mentioned all of those things that the Lakers might need speed and defensive versatility to guard all those players he mentioned that’s not what Zack brings he is an offensive player he plays largely one end of the floor this isn’t a two-way player and so

I think for the Lakers a and when you look at the Lakers and Bulls there’s difficult there’s difficulty putting the pieces together on what a trade would look like in terms of what the Bulls would want to have back I think it’s a tough trade to make

By the way 10 and six in the 16 games he’s missed now in that bunch and two of those losses were one was at Milwaukee in overtime and one is Jimmy Butler in Miami at the buzzer they have played a lot better without Zack LaVine top five

Team in passing which they were not I think they were like 23rd when Zack LaVine in there so look there’s there’s all kinds of indications that they are playing better yes Drummond going into the lineup and getting about some Wilt likee number of rebounds last it’s crazy

Right 20 rebounds average in the last four games so they’re playing better without him they they’ll try to dance around that and D rozan plays differently without Zack LaVine and better and Kobe White’s a different player completely so they need to move Zack LaVine but you’re right W and I

Know I asked just but every couple of days I text him in the middle of games but what and and his value is just not that great one of the things not a two-way player at all and so those things that perk outline the Lakers absolutely need he can offset though

Some of those offensive stars with his look Zack LaVine can fill it up he can do that and the Lakers may need that go ahead perk but but but but W and willbourn the two legends y’all missed the key point I said under the leadership that’s the best case to make yes yeah

Yes under the leadership of LeBron James he just bring something different out of you that’s no doubt perk he does I mean look he has not had that player above him he’s been the best player in Chicago he needs that and look if he can’t play

If he can’t do it under LeBron then who else would he do it under Le four years about an average of $45 million a year that’s a heck of a gamble on asking LeBron James to validate justify taking on that contract Zack LaVine has to show

It between when he comes back now and the trade deadline on February 8th if he wants to get moved if they want to find a trade if they’re playing better without him though do they give him the space to Showcase himself listen I think in Chicago they’re hoping that Zack lavine’s been

Watching seeing how this team has operated and figuring out how he can fit back into it and impact it because they don’t want to go back to the way they were playing it was unwatchable it they they were a team that was literally non-competitive when they were playing through Zack LaVine earlier this [Applause] Season

Adrian Wojnarowski, Michael Wilbon, Ramona Shelburne and Kendrick Perkins join Malika Andrews on NBA Today to discuss how the Chicago Bulls should handle Zach LaVine before the NBA trade deadline as LaVine (foot) is set to return to the floor.

  1. As a bulls fan I think they should definitely move on from Lavine and trade him to a title contenders team like the heats or sixers

  2. Bruh woj and Wilbon are talking outta both sides of their mouth. How you gonna say Lavine has no trade value, but the bulls don’t want anything that the lakers have? This is nonsense. There’s always an agenda. Someone is feeding woj these talking points as a negotiation ploy. Call it the lakers tax. Call it the league wants LeBron to hurry up and retire. Call it whatever you want. But that made no sense.

  3. they are only taking into account this season, he was awful to start the year – but last year post all star break they played well he averaged 28-29 ppg. Tired of Woj's takes…

  4. Let's not overreact, Koby developing into a good pointguard and Ball coming back, so let's not panic and move anyone yet.

  5. Zach makes too much and lakers would give too many rotations of their pieces for him. It really doesn’t make sense for both sides because what do the lakers have that the bulls want? And how much value is one guy when lakers would need to plug multiple rotation players for him when they really been struggling with having guys healthy.

  6. My Bulls it's time to blow it all the way up go into rebuild mode trade Alex Caurso, Jevon Carter,Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Torrey Craig, Nikola Vucevic, Andre Drummond, to the Pelicans for Dyson Daniels, Kira Lewis Jr, Zion Williamson, Herb Jones, Trey Murphy 3, Brandon Ingram, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, E.J Lindell…….. Trade Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu, Dalen Terry, Henri,Dell, Onuralp Bitim, Terry Taylor, Patrick Williams, to the Wizards for Jordan Poole, Landry Shamet, Kyle Kumza, Danilo Gallinari, Mike Muscala, Corey Kispert, Deni Avdija

  7. City of Angeles population: 5 million. Los Angeles County population is 10 – 12 million yet Lebron could only get 5 million viewers for Lakers versus our historic rivals Boston Celtics. He has destroyed the Lakers and the NBA. Looks at the numbers I just gave you, we the real Los Angeles Laker fans unlike lebozo’s illogical out of state fans do not respect Lebron as a player, we also do no not respect him as a man because he has made more than enough money and now he is just taking up space and stanking up the court instead of retiring so young players can make some money and get promotion instead of not being able to play the game because they have to protect LeMickey’s image so we have to watch his nepo son play instead of getting out of the way so his son can learn to be a man instead of a beta like his worthless 39 year old 6’9” 270 father that cries to referees because other players have better skills than he does. He does not represent Los Angeles; we are real alpha men that made LA the resting place of your favorite rappers. Trade Lebron for Zach Levine please

  8. Yeah, Zach need put in more of an all-around effort and get healthy but figuring out how he's going to fit in with the team is for the coach to figure out.

  9. All you heard in the offseason is how the lakers made great moves and built a championship team. Ofcourse Now they need more help and the NBA will somehow make a star player like Lavine available for lakers to give up nothing but a box cookies and some bs picks. Can’t wait LBJ retires

  10. ESPN starts every trade conversation with "how does this player fit on the lakers?"… the bias towards that organization (or lets be honestly its towards Lebron) is embassing.
