‘Lakers are a GRAVE DISAPPOINTMENT’ 🗣️ – Stephen A. on roster around LeBron & Davis | NBA Countdown

After starting the season 14-9 and then winning the in-season tournament they now have the fifth worst record in the NBA over their last 11 games and in that span defensively they ranked 21st in efficiency and have given up an average of 15 thre pointers a game Malika help

Us out with our NBA Countdown crew Al Duncan it’s not me that needs the help it’s the Los Angeles Lakers clearly welcome inside our Los Angeles studi Stephen A Smith Michael wilbon and Bob Meyers making an appearance here on set let’s talk a little bit more about the

Lakers Stephen A because since they went 6-0 in the inseason tournament they are 3 and8 and they really do have a stretch here where it could be a get right where they turn things around what do you need to see from them for them to turn that corner prayer number one number two

Offense and defense they’re 20th on offense they’re 2st defensively that’s nothing impressive nothing to brag at home about and they’re the one team in the NBA that seems to try and play two on Five basketball night because the only two people that show up is LeBron James and Anthony Davis who has been

Nothing short of Sensational let’s give props to props do averaging 30 on 58% shooting 11.6 rebounds 2.3 blocks per game we know what LeBron James brings to the table but where the hell is everybody else it’s an APB out for them Austin re is averaging 17 points but he

Could shoot the ball better don’t get me started with D’Angelo Russell I’m done with him he’s been comos he’s been asleep at the wheel I mean as far as I’m concerned damn near stealing money I mean this is why they’re talking about trading him and even when you talk about

Moving him you literally say we got to package somebody else to get what we want because nobody’s going to accept him as being enough this is the problem with the Los Angeles Lakers they’ve got to make some move you’re hear in the name Deonte Murray I don’t even know if

That’s enough or whatever but you got to try and do something because pinka you know um obviously jeie bus they kept the team together and the team has not answered the call from the Western Conference Finals they are a grave disappointment as far as I’m concerned

They are not a 500 team but that’s what their record says so that’s who they are there was a oldfashioned way of getting to the heart of the matter with a team like the Lakers they’re not good enough they’re not you can wish it you can wish you’re going to have playoffs

Across the street from where we are sitting right now and you can wish all these things and LeBron has a blaze of glory in whatever this is 39th 4th year they’re not good enough and so yes pinka will have to do this for a second consecutive year that he did it last

Year was impressive doing it twice Stephen A I don’t know about that I’m not going to disagree with any of the particular but there are particulars in there to say to you they’re not good enough we’re talking about multiple moves no one move that I can see is going to save the Los

Angeles Lakers the different thing about last year too for this year there are more good teams in the west ready to beat them Minnesota and Oklahoma City have outperformed expectations so far and and New Orleans is on the cusp of doing that as well so you got three

Teams that have just kind of gone right past the lake so far this season and guess what we’re almost at the halfway point of this season you it screams mediocrity and it’s not good enough because they do they still do have two of the best call it 10 12 players in the

NBA with LeBron and Anthony Davis that usually if you’re a GM in this league and you can look at your roster and say I’ve got where’s Anthony Davis rank was he top five right now top 10 we argue about I think he’s in there LeBron question same right right right there

You whatever he is 10 9 7 five whatever that’s usually good enough but it’s not you know 20th net rating Stephen A went through their defense offense nothing good about any of it so what do you do you mentioned plink last year I actually talked to Rob today they did thread the

Needle last year but you can’t keep doing that you can’t keep trying to do that they picked it up last year new blood New Life got some new guys ruy came in there Russell came in there but you’re right it’s not happening right now you hope that Gabe Vincent

Ultimately gets healthy because he hasn’t been healthy and you can’t count on that which is why you’re hearing news about a point guard because my goodness they need somebody because they’ve lost faith in D’Angelo Russell just like the rest of us had but to me I’m going to

Hold the players totally accountable I get what you’re saying about them not being good enough but that’s not being good enough to be at the top of the Western Conference that doesn’t mean you have to be a 500 team that doesn’t mean you win an inseason tournament and then

For get out and play basketball in the next eight of the next 11 games it doesn’t mean those things and so for me when you convinced an organization look at us look at how we came together stick with us and then you let him down that

Way that’s a problem well you know what we saw a motivated Lakers team we all saw it in Vegas sure so so that’s the part that’s hard to figure out right we saw but but but the playoffs can be short turn but the playoffs can be that

Too so I’m not writing them off [Applause] [Applause] yet

Bob Myers, Stephen A. Smith, Michael Wilbon and Adrian Wojnarowski join Malika Andrews on NBA Countdown to discuss how the Los Angeles Lakers could turn their season around after a recent slide, citing that LeBron James and Anthony Davis are the only players putting in the work for the team.

  1. LeBron plays offense, that's it. He just stands around on defense that's only when he can even be bothered to get back.

  2. this just shows that the in season championship is a joke and the banner they have raised alongside the real NBa champinship is a big joke…

  3. I don’t understand we have the same team from last year with lebron shooting 40% from deep and AD playing like hell how are we not winning games I don’t understand

  4. Why they are holding on reaves? Are they expecting him to be the star player when bron and AD is gone? He’s not a franchise player!

  5. The goal is to win now! Stop these improve young players like christie, and holding on reaves. Those guys aint gonna cut!

  6. Man such overhyping Lebron!!! He doesn’t play defense and on offense he makes layups and stands still for a open pass 3 ball.

  7. The Lakers won the in Season tournament by hitting only 3 threes. That's not a winning formula for a Lebron team. Idc what anyone says, the last 3 seasons now the Lakers have simply failed by not having enough shooting around LeBron.

  8. The biggest mistake the Lakers made last off season was to let go of Schreuder and keep Dlo. It should have been the other way around

  9. The roster that has issues includes AD and lebron, especially lebron. There's no magic formula thats gonna fix this. They arent winning anything except that tournament. Lebron is a liability and no one wants to admit it because of the empty numbers. From his own legacy its great at his age and mileage. But for the lakers its almost like they are just there to see lebron pad his stats and complain while barely getting back on defense and getting further and further away from the basket on half court possessions and just tryna swing it around for a 3. Its lazy. Its time for them to move on from lebron james. Thats the solution. Another star will come just like he and AD did. But they and specifically lebron has to go first.

  10. Anyone remember the year lakers were heavy favorites by ESPN the year Steve Nash and Dwight Howard and them guys joined up and didn’t even make the playoffs? This year felt a lot like that year and I was saying that before the season started. Anyone with half a brain saw this coming. You really want to rely so heavy on a 39 year old dude?

  11. Dejounte Murray?? LMAO. Who do they have that they can package to get Dejounte? Don't say D'angelo, no one wants him and his contract.

  12. Let me guess……Lebron not making his teammates better but just trying to pad his stats? Let me guess…..Lakers will trade everyone except Bron and AD ??? 😆 Lebrons Peds wore off? 🤔 😉😜

  13. The Heat undoubtedly are a deep team, Spo said it. Wait until the playoffs, if they get healthy for the playoffs, they will be in the Finals again, and win it this time as Butler stated earlier this season 😊

  14. In-season champs 😂 suck 😂 literally anyone could have won that little tournament 😂

  15. SAS should stop his nonsense, he clearly hasnt watched lakers past month, austin reaves is averaging 18 last 10 games and he keeps blaming him

  16. When the warriors lose over and over nobody talking about them and crying , same with the suns , and the clippers everybody just decided to try to play better

  17. The in-season tournament was 7 games. A deep playoff run is 20+, probably 24-26 if you’re thinking title. I don’t think that they can string together that many all-out efforts together.

  18. “Let’s talk more about the Lakers” Dang shame how no team beats the Lakers, because obviously according to the media, Lakers beat Lakers, not Miami

  19. Lakers are purposely doing this, remember it’s “Hollywood” they’ll pick up from Allstar weekend
