WARRIORS IN TURMOIL 😬 Nuggets’ strength prospers amid Warriors’ identity crisis | NBA Today

That you call Glass on that my friend in I’m happy these games all come down to the wire it feels like for us this year and um we’ve we’ve probably lost four or five that we should have won maybe we’ve won one or two that we uh shouldn’t have

But um yeah these are these are gut punches for sure when you lose hope like we’re not there um when you lose hope in yourself as a team that’s when the conversation changes we’re not there it’s just it’s frustrating because you do play the what if game

And oh we could be 21 and 13 right now even with the record we are now we know we can compete senior NBA Insider Adrien W jarowski is here with us alongside our senior writers Brian wior and Zack low there is so much to sift through here I

Was wondering I is this is this the worst Golden State loss of the season is what I was asking myself they have blown four 18-point leads this season Brian what what are your impressions what are your takeaways from watching that well I was taken back by the nuggets in this

Game because this was this was a team that you know they could have given up on this game it wouldn’t have been a big deal but they’ve been playing really good basketball they haven’t gotten a lot of attention because they don’t ask for a lot of attention this is like a

Walk-off win like you know hear that you see that in baseball that’s what this was they had to walk off the court and and they were celebrating at like home plate and they’ve now won six in a row on the road 11 of 13 overall and what

Impressed me about this they gave up a huge third quarter run they got out scored by 20 points in the third quarter how many times have the Warriors done that to teams over the last decade knocked them out this team doesn’t get knocked out and that was what I took

Away from this game the nuggets are still as strong as they’ve ever been you know what we have a lot of conversations about alltime greats MVPs what coaches ranks and we put Steve Curt in this alltime great for as a coach right because of the Dynasty and the run

And things of that nature but I’m hesitant and reluctant to to say that he’s not an alltime great and he’s been showing that time and time again okay yes he has won championships but he has Kevin Durant he has Steph Curry we talk arguably two of the greatest players to

Ever touch the damn basketball Steve Curry reckord without Steph Curry is like 64 and 103 which is terrible but last night what I saw outside of Murray and joic cooking the uh the Golden State Warriors I saw Aaron Gordon go for 30 and majority of those points were in the

Paint why am I looking at Aaron Gordon because you bench your young guy in Jonathan kaminga 19 minutes he had 164 and four was playing great basketball you got a match athleticism with athleticism and what Steve CT has is he has a uh what’s the word a d uh abandonment problem yeah abandonment

Issues that’s what he has he’s he abandons his young players from growing like you have to let them grow Greg papovich then then went through the process of letting young players grow and letting them turn out to be great players and even if they was in other situations uh Deonte Murray Derek white

Right like you got to develop these young players and Steve ker from time and time again continuously to go away from the process of these young players and that’s what cost them last night Zach do you think that’s what cost them well first first of all did we just get

A an impromptu perk word of the day there that was very that was very exciting second of all you got it perk he is playing Brandon pky quite a bit but look the longer this goes on the more surprising it is that the Warriors even got to the second round of the

Playoffs last year because this team has known almost nothing but turmoil since the moment Draymond Green punched Jordan pool in a practice and the video got out and to perk’s point I’m just watching Aaron Gordon I don’t know if it was Daddy ball or Big Brother ball or older

Cousin Ball but he was doing something hurtful to the Warriors G play after play after play in the fourth quarter and you know me Malika Tim legler and I want the t-shirts made we’re Jonathan kaminga fans I’m sitting there saying to myself where is Jonathan kaminga and at

Some point the turmoil just becomes too much the roster turmoil the ins and outs the suspensions the guys going in and out of the rotation being frustrated about it it just kind of overtakes your team and here’s where we are with the war Warriors James wisman gone Jonathan

Kaminga benched Moses Moody out of the rotation the two timelines thing just is not materialized at all and their current season is on the brink of getting a little bit out of their control and them falling too far behind Raymond Green reinforcements could be on

The way as he is nearing his return what more can you tell us there yeah he’s been away from the Warriors since the suspension he’ll have missed his 12th game tonight since the suspension benion started mid December uh but I’m told he’s expected to return to the teams

Facility here in the coming days imminently and then he’ll start his ramp up to get back in game shape uh and then ultimately he’s got to get a final okay from Adam Silver to be restored into the league and play again but it is not far

Off and you know if you’re the Warriors you’re hoping and Steph Curry set it we don’t have an identity right now that Draymond Green helps you get that back and that he brings order to this team not more chaos because it was chaotic the suspensions um going back to last

Year what’s happened this year and so that is some hope for the Warriors but again it’s got to be a Draymond Green who comes back and starts to help put uh this group and this season back together right because I I think that Zach laid it out kind of perfectly it does feel

Like there is something that is hanging in the balance for Golden State right now and then when Draymond Green comes back where does that lead Golden State well they need his defense because this team they weren’t a great defensive team when he got suspended they’ve been a

Frankly a poor defensive team in this last 11 games they ranked 24th in the league in defense these last 11 games they need his difference making at the defensive end I think what’s frustrating for Steve cerr is he actually thought like they got some traction you know they started using psky they started

Using Trace Jackson Davis Jonathan kaminga was playing a bigger role they got on that winning streak they’ve even like gotten Klay Thompson a little bit out of his slump he’s still not home but he’s playing a little bit better and this losing streak right here has lost

All of that momentum and has really now got them as a position where they’re a team on a losing run when draymond’s coming back instead of what they were hoping for why are you why are you shaking your head and sighing because we we as in the world want this team to be

Back to that Championship caliber team so bad and it don’t matter if Draymond is coming back it don’t matter if they decide to bring by Myers back Jesus Christ cannot save what’s going on with the Golden State war on too soon I will I will I didn’t already put I didn’t

Already I didn’t already put flowers on it because it’s too it’s too much going on right internally when you have guys like Jonathan kaminga that are speaking out publicly report speaking out publicly who by the way that’s lack of professionalism on his part because he hasn’t done a damn thing to be speaking

Out on anything right handle those behind closed doors but when you have guys like you know Klay Thompson is dealing with what he’s dealing with with the front office Draymond Green now you expecting Draymond Green to come back and be somewhat of a savior no that’s not going to happen this team this

Dynasty has ran his course and we just have to face the facts that right here in front of us maybe but it’s a long season and these guys got a pedigree I would rather be late than early on a situation like this clay Klay Thompson is playing much better and people were

Writing Klay Thompson off early this season he’s playing much better as Brian said when Draymond Green played he’s played really well and Steph Curry is still Steph Curry this is a team listen there’s chaos sometimes very out in public with organizations sometimes it’s very private generally it’s everywhere

In the NBA sometimes you’re hearing about it sometimes you’re not these things in turn this is still a group that has a chance to make uh to get it right now are they as good as the very best in the west I don’t think they are

But the idea that this is going to just dissolve into um a team that falls out of the playoffs I’m not buying that with the playin tournament the invention of that’s four teams you got Golden State doing something this year yes or no just it’s a simple yes or no what is

Doing or nothing is that the only but that’s what that’s the only thing that you think about when you think about the State Warriors when it comes down to Kay step and Draymond Green simple yes or no do you have them doing it if the if the definition of doing things is

Championship then right now no that that would not what about you wi yes or no just yes or no I don’t think or think yes just yes or no yes or no there’s it’s not the only Judgment of whether a team a season has success it’s

Not a disaster no uh no I’m just going to say no perk by the way I think they would I’ve said before I think they would have lost in the first round last year if dearon Fox didn’t break his finger in the middle of the series and

That’s no shame the kings are good look this team won the title two years ago just two years ago and with every passing day that becomes more and more of a magical and remarkable achievement because the minute that series ended they just haven’t been able to recapture

For more than 5 10 15 games what got them there and a couple of things have happened they’ve got older and they’ve OB obviously experienced a lot of internal Tor starting with the Draymond Jordan pool thing and the West has gotten better all around them starring

The team that beat them last night that was riddled with injuries for two straight playoff runs one of which ended in a Warriors title that’s a great Championship it was a magical moment it was a crowning achievement for Steph Curry and since that game ended that

Game six in Boston this team just hasn’t been the same that’s just a fact yeah He

Kendrick Perkins, Brian Windhorst, Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe join Malika Andrews on NBA Today to discuss the core issues with the Golden State Warriors as they drop an 18-point lead with 6 minutes left in the fourth quarter to Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets.

  1. People need to stop lying about Curry being in his prime. Prime what?? Curry likes playing hero ball and trying to make the fans cheer his every three point shot. Warriors have been cocky and arrogant for years and their offense hasn't changed. It's just running to get behind the three point line and jack up three's and dance around doing the sleep antic if it goes in. They've never been known for their great defense. Whoever they're playing next will see the exact same thing we just saw. Jack up three's and cry when they lose.

  2. Thanks perks. !! I a 🐐 could have coach that team and win a championships they have star power shooter Stephen curry might go down as the best shooter off all time. And when clay Thompson was healthy, he was clay Thompson.

  3. Perk didn't watch the game probably. Kuminga got benches cuz he gave up almost 60 points PERSONALLY. Which is insane. He was cooked all night for no particular reason. This is what happens to young kids in the NBA. They get a little confidence on offense and completely blow their defensive assignments. Kuminga was horrible, and he was absolutely the reason they got cooked last night

  4. My mom was actually rooting for the Warriors to win so our Clippers can catch the Nuggets in the standings. But when Jokic banked that shot and it went in, I was celebrating! F the Warriors. I hate them almost as much as the Lakers.

I’m glad the Warriors are now a relic of the past. I’m surprised they won all those championships being that small and being 3-pt jackers. What happened when Warriors started to win chips, bigs like Jokic, Giannis, and Embiid were still very young. Embiid didn’t start to play until the 2016 season.

Eventually, the bigs eventually reached their prime and we’re seeing it right now. The return of the bigs like it’s the 90s again. Warriors are simply too small to handle Jokic as they couldn’t even handle AD last year and Jokic handled AD.

Did you see the waning moments of that game? Throw it to Jokic and let him play bully bill. Saric and Looney couldn’t do a thing about it. Then his lob to Gordon to tie the game. Warriors were a lucky team with their era lacking good big men. DeAndre Jordan being on the All-NBA team for centers is sign that the 2010s was a pathetic era for bigs.

Warriors are done. Draymond spends more time getting suspended. Dude will never change. Reckless. Rude. No manners. Klay Thompson is no longer the same player as before and is getting benched. Steph is still great but he’s only getting older and older and if his shot isn’t falling, then he’s really a one dimensional player or one-trick pony. He’s only 6’3 and turns 36 in two months.

The Warriors’ championship window closed the moment the bigs matured and Draymond socked Poole in the face.

  5. Until Kerr realizes its time to bench the old dudes for his young players they will continue to keep losing

  6. was a golden state fan but when they trade jordan poole coz he wont fall in line. i know they are going down hill

  7. This is all Kerr. But no one else seems to want to blame him. No Kuminga in the 4th? He does this type of stuff all the time. He needs to be fired.

Edit: Perk already said what I thought.

  8. it is more surprising that the Warriors were able to lead the defending Champions by 18 points until the last 6 minutes. Then they blew it away. Kerr trusts the veterans too much. They, however, run out of juice in the 4th quarter. He shoulda played the youngsters late in the games IMO.

  9. If the team was gonna be this bad they should have kept James and let him play 25 mins a game. We could have a front court of TJD and James. I'd rather see James develop if the team was this bad.

Green isn't a difference maker on the Defensive end. He's just a undersized PF

  10. First time I ever thought I’d agree with Perk on this one! Steve Kerr has a personal issue with these young guys and he’s sacrificing games because of it!

  11. Perk really said "Jesus Christ cannot save what's going on with the warriors" 🤣🤣🤣💀💀💀

  12. I don't know why the warriors keep depending on Dremond Green. You can't expect a chaotic player like Dremond Green to be the author of order. Plan a team without him now!!!

  13. Perk at this point is either the ignorant or hating, and both in purpose, as he had ana earlier experience with doubting the GS and it didn't end well for him. and He take it lightly when GS won. So, in my thoughts you can go on the extreme critic's side and not taking the L when you are wrong. I don't know, it seems personal at this point. Maybe is Steph saying something to him in the bench situation.

  14. NBA has moved on from the GSW type of basketball. Skilful big man sport! Note, Dame was not even a highlight next to Giannis and Wemby last night. Adapt or die 😊

  15. The only reason warriors lost this game was cause of Kerr. He lost the game based off benching kuminga alone lol
