POSTGAME: Grizzlies (12-23) get hot from 3, defeat the Lakers (17-19), 127-113

Why don’t the grizzlies shoot this well from 3 every game? Are they stupid?

  2. This felt like taking a long drag of a cigarette after a 12 hour shift, dear god this was needed

Edit: in case it needs to be said, don’t smoke kids it’s horrible

  3. Lacabloodclot9

    DID YOU GUYS KNOW 3 > 2??????

Also Z has officially fucking arrived, I better not see his name be put next to Jake ever again

  4. coolio1831

You think we got their coach fired? Would be wild.

  5. ILikeDillonBrooks

What a game! Fuck the lakers and fuck their fans.

  6. No idea how Marcus Smarts tenure with Memphis will go but we will always have the time he shat on the Lakers.

  7. Xorndowndeep

Let this be the win that prompts Pelinka to do some dumb shit like trade for Zach Lavine and fuck up their season

  8. _checkpickerupper

Jenkins with the top tier coaching move 😂 never seen Pop galvanize a team like that

  9. Waffleshuriken

IMAGINE BEING A BIG WITH ONLY 6 REBOUNDS. AD SHOULD REALLY TAKE A PAGE OUT OF JJJ’S BOOK AND LEARN HOW TO REBOUND

  10. SongYoungbae

My wife said she keeping her Bane jersey on during sex. And I can’t even be mad.

  11. alphetaboss

I love how much Lebron and the rest hate the grizz. I love how much it gets under their skin.

  12. AnotherJJJFoul

Ja looked like he finally wasn’t sick, great energy. Z over the last two games looks like hes been watching the comments. I want to see him come for blood more. JJJ w 31 and 9 boards. Biz w 10 boards and 3/3. Smart had a game man, shots looked good but could force less 3s. Overall great game, we out rebounded them by 9!

  13. Just-Plain-Dan

In a season that hasn’t been great, a win in LA helps quite a bit

  14. That’s the first time since 0:03 left in game 4 in that same building last year that I felt positive about the direction of this franchise. I know LAL hasn’t been playing well but that was a badly badly needed win for the mental of this team. Loved the attitude, physicality, and energy. Felt like 2 years ago.

  15. grievouseel

Listening to Jaren talk about Jenkins makes it clear his job if safe. Players love him.

  16. HelplessInTheFace

Bane with 13 assists tonight, no Ja for a while might have done him good!

  17. BetleyIsland36

Ziaire played great off the bench in the 4th and showed exactly why the coaching staff still trusts him, hopefully these last couple of games by him will stop all the stupid trade posts about him for a while

  18. wilkins78412

Ziaire scored more than the entire Lakers bench. Wow

  19. Seymour_Says

I don’t know where to start. That was one of the most cathartic games I’ve watched in awhile. Grit and Grind Forever and Ever

  20. hail_stn_hail_ys

If we get fucking rebounds like this every game we will win, period

  21. pepepresident

Goddamn what a game by Jaren and Smart. The best feel win we got the whole season we were scorching hot from the three. Shoutout to Z for carrying the bench unit.

  22. epicnerd427

Ziaire finally stringing good games together you love to see it. He was always a project, but he just might be coming together

also we finally got the good Smart shooting night lets GOOOOO

    Postgame thoughts:

**• Jaren Jackson, Jr with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks**

Oh, so you *can* blocks shots and rebound, Trip?? Well, okay then, good sir!

**• Wickit Smaht had 29 points and 8 for 14 from three**

JFC ***thank you, Marcus!*** It’s been lonely over here trying to convince people that trading for you was worth it. It’s much easier when you have good games.

    **•** **~~Ferris Bueller’s best friend~~** **Austin Reaves was a -23 for the game**

This stat made my pannies wet.

**• Desmond Bane with 13 assists is wild and exciting**

This is my favorite stat of the night.

It’s one thing to be able to put up points. Teams can watch how you play, figure out your tendencies and contain that. But when you start opening up your game with assists, it makes you way harder to defend. One of the underappreciated aspects of Ja’s game is his ability to get assists. At 8 assists a game, that means that in addition to the 25 points he averages, he accounts for between 16 points (*if they we all to 2-pt scorers*) to 24 points (*if they were all to 3-pt scorers*) on top of that from assists. It’s hard to defend someone when you know that all four of the other players are options (*incidentally, this is why Trip is so much more straightforward to defend: you know he’s not going to pass it and definitely not to someone in scoring position when he does*).

Desmond Bane currently averages 5.2 assists a game. If you look at the players averaging between 5 and 6.5 —*which is the players ranked at about 15 – 34 of the assist leaders*— there are some really interesting names in that group; players who are, without question, considered playmakers in the NBA. Like, we know Des is a playmaker but he’s really upping his game to move into a higher category.

This is especially significant since he’s never going to be the primary focus of a defense as long as he’s on a team with Ja. And he’ll dominate secondary defenders.
