Woj says the Knicks’ biggest move is still yet to come 👀 | NBA Countdown

Okay so Julius Randle believes this team can beat anyone they’re currently 19 and 15 eighth in the East that’s what he believes but come the playoffs perk do you think that and he’s supposed to believe that but hell no I don’t believe that and I don’t think that and it’s not

Because I’m not about to go on this big you know argument or debate about a star and getting another star it’s because of the person who said it Julius Randle He has been spectacular in the regular season over the past three seasons usually when you get to the post of

Season and you’re a franchise guy and all NBA caliber player you supposed your games is supposed to go another level he is go down and that’s been the problem with the Knicks and this is why I can’t go with Julius Rand a rooll with him saying that he could compete with any

Team in the Eastern Conference or in the league especially when we’re talking about the Milwaukee bugs the Philadelphia 76 is in the Boston Celtics Leon Rose the president of the Knicks has shown him himself to be pretty patient in this job he has not taken big risks risks there was a package

Available for Donovan Mitchell he thought that um it was too much to give up he didn’t do it Cleveland did the trade 48 hours later bringing an ojan and noi gives the Knicks now with Jaylen Brunson who he brought in free agency two really good pieces who fit together with this roster

The big one is to come and if you’re the Knicks what you don’t want to do right now because you still have a relatively young team is go out and just settle for the best available player out there and use they have five of their own first

Round picks they have a Dallas and a Milwaukee pick they have a lot to offer a team in a big trade typically these things shake out in the offseason teams underachieve in the postseason guys don’t like their roles whatever it is they become available in trades it’s not

Usually at the trade deadline New York has the ability here and I know people say we’ve been patient a long time we haven’t won in forever but you get one crack at this and if you you use your assets on the wrong guy you’re stuck and

I think New York has an opportunity to wait out the market and that player may come available for them and they’re doing it the right way perk I’m a little surprised because we’ve been on this program a long time and you talk so highly of Jaylen Brunson and look at the

Question on the screen how formidable are the Knicks as a playoff Contender I think as a playoff Contender were they to make it they are formidable they have a good team they play good defense they have really good pieces you talk so highly of Julius Randle who started off

The year slow he had that growth and maturation in his game where he’s averaging like 22 the last 20 or so games you’ve got Jaylen Brunson playing well and OG anobi is the key piece because he what has guarded the second most uh def allars in the last two years

Shooting 38% from three they’re taking the right steps I don’t know why you hate look at their last 18 months they’ve added Jaylen Brunson they’ve added Josh Hart they’ve added Dante deeno they’ve added Oobi those are all positive steps they need the big one but they’re moving in the right direction

And and Brian knows this when those are the kind of players that when you have those role players in place it makes the big star say okay now that roster is ready for me to join it and somebody asked for a trade to New York uh or or

Says hey they’re on my short list but no one’s going to be the first one in if you’re a star star in the NBA you’re not the first one in there there’s a nucleus now uh for you to join we this twist my words okay IIT this want to try to what [Applause] I NBA on is

The NBA Countdown crew debates if the New York Knicks are a legitimate playoff contender in the Eastern Conference, with Kendrick Perkins saying they aren’t. Adrian Wojnarowski discusses how Leon Rose and the front office have approached making big moves, adding that they will be patient before using their chips.

  1. A tall guard that can shoot off of the bench will do wonders for this team. I don't think they need to go find another superstar – they need to find the right fit.

The Derrick White trade is a template – he was traded for what – Richardson, some other guy I can't remember & a protected first, right? Go find that kind of a trade and the Knicks will be ready to contend.

  2. She's blided by the regular season knicks fans know Julius always avg's like 25 in the regular season this is not new, then it goes down to like 16 in the playoffs thats why we need mitchell! Julius would be the perfect 3rd option he's capable of getting 30 but don't tell him to

  3. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Knicks move Randle, young players, and a plethora of picks for Pascal Siamam

  4. Knicks may not have superstars, but they have the deepest roster along with w/ Miami. Guys like Grimes or Josh Hart can easily start for any contender rn

  5. It’s as simple as this. You take any super star talent in the league right now, and put them on the a Knicks as they stand, how far do you think they could go? IMO if any of these guys : Embiid, Giannis, Tatum, Anthony Edwards, Booker, KD, Lebron, Jokic, Spyda, Kawhi, Jaylen Brown, or KAT was put on this team, your looking at a true championship bound franchise and not later, I mean RIGHT NOW, and possibly a dynasty. The Knicks core is one of the best team cores in the NBA imo, if they had that one guy that’s basically the main reason you would legitimately fear the team (like Jokic, or Ja, or Steph) The Knicks would shake the NBA to its core.

  6. People don’t realize it but this the media trying to destroy the Knicks. Making a move like that in the position they’re in is exactly what they want because they know if they fail they’ll look like the same old Knicks. Leon isn’t having any of it. It’s crazy how hard of a job Leon has had to go through with pulling this franchise out of hell, and he’d be damned if it all goes to waste. Let the Knicks cook, let Leon cook. The only thing the Knicks and Knicks fans need to focus on is gelling the team, winning, clearing cap space, and prospecting the next draft, because honestly speaking the draft is what truly changes a franchise. You have to get a Ja, or a AE, or a Tatum that’s the only true way to become a true championship Calibur team. 76ers got Embiid, C’s got Tatum, Thunder got SGA. The Knicks need to get their guy that’s going to become a household name without buying him or having him request to come to them.

  7. Best use for their picks is to trade up in the draft and steal the next star to be and I’m looking square at Detroit, San Antonio, Washington, and Portland.

  8. The issue the knicks have is all media driven honestly. It feels like they overreact and make moves to appease the media, chasing/rushing moves.
People forget how good their culture was becoming with Amare and Chandler – hard work, play together, have an identity, bonding with the fans – and when melo came in it disrupted it.

As long as they don't rush this they should be fine. Let guys grow, only bring in a "star" that fits. Don't force the issue.
I've been impressed with the knicks honestly.

  9. Center KAT? The wolves are in first place with a 25-9 record now. It would be silly for them to trade for future first picks. Knicks are playing really well with Hartenstein on both sides (offense and defense). I think the offense clicks better with him than Mitchell Robinson. Better passer and better scorer than Robinson. This is a great opportunity for Hart, Donte and Grimes.

  10. Knicks dont need to get anybody else. The roster is deep and talented, Brunson and Randle can carry a 4th quarter stretch, everybody on the team not playing center can light you up from 3 then drive past you when you sell out.
    We dont need anybody else.
