Chris Finch says defense made difference in win over Rockets

Chris you talked about your team getting back to its identity what did you see tonight that maybe led to that if so um you know I saw our defense you know I saw our defense um you know um in a lot of different ways uh we rebounded the ball real well we were

Into it we were you know kind of get being bothersome uh you know Rudy was back doing his thing at the rim and everybody was out there making some grimy defensive plays excuse me so that’s what we got to be um we were able to turn it into 25 fast break points

Which is a lot for us and something we’ve been stressing too um and then um uh but yeah just all started with our attention to detail on defense also say some good play from Jaden McDaniels and um a couple other players that maybe hadn’t been playing um at the highest

Level what did that look like to you that’s that looks fun because um I’ve always said that Jaden is a barometer for our offense and if we are moving the ball and doing the right things offensively guys like him can really contribute at a high level uh and we saw

That tonight um and everybody was able to come in and chip in you know um I thought J mck was incredible you know in the in in his two shifts out there um you know and everybody really I thought that offensively we had uh 31 assists um

Which is how we had been playing before the last couple weeks only 13 turnovers which is huge for us because you know we’ve we’ve been struggling in that category six guys in doubles um and you know looked like it was fun to play basketball with each other today so you

Mentioned 31 assist 13 turnovers um do you what was the key that made made the offense a little just the will the willingness to want to make the pass and and uh you know make it early and not fight the game you know uh excuse me big

Point of emphasis for us has just been trying to make your teammates better you know whether it’s cutting screening uh executing getting off of it when you’re covered U that kind of stuff that fourman bench unit kind of put the in the game tonight uh what did you see from from that group

Specifically yeah just I mean Nas was was you know incredible um just as energy as shot making uh I thought n nil’s defense jmx you know spark uh and I I really liked uh you know Kyle like I try to get I’m trying to get Kyle back with Rudy Moore

Um and they played a couple shifts together and I thought they were super impactful too you know um and then you know cat as well I thought he did a good job of taking advantage of his matchup um out there and uh and at times like they were heavy switching and we were

Able to post them so ky ky R minutes has it been because of the the spacing or no I mean it’s been mostly let’s you know a lot like rotation just uh you know Kyle plays the three and Nas and Cat the four and you know so just sometimes you know

Um it’s easier to get to than others and you know sometimes I just got to make the decision to do it and that’s what I did today I just went Kyle first in the rotation so he could maximize his minutes with Rudy you mentioned the game

Cwad it seemed like he two of his big players he had two offensive rebounds but those two offensive rebounds are like two of his maybe better sequences of of the night yeah is he can do more of for you guys just crashing the glass yeah I mean he’s been really active on

The glass for the last few weeks I’d say the last month you know um and uh he got a couple big ones and you know I know one of them uh led to an and one I think and then another one led to an assist

Yeah um so those are huge plays and uh you know big momentum plays off got to the line early um you see him maybe turn more playmaker distributor later in the game or how did he kind of straighten that balance do you think I thought he played an

Outstanding game I thought he like stayed aggressive all the way through the game uh in the beginning of the game he wanted to consciously move the ball um and I then you know then he started to get aggressive as the game went on and then just kept making the right plays

Making right the plays you know just had a couple big ones and we were able to finally crack the game open a lot of them were because he was just making the right play whether it be keeping it for himself or getting off of it a macro

Sense that’s sh a good ability to kind of bounce back quickly I know this was your first two games streak of the season but it’s kind of continuation of of that sort of mindset that I think seems to have yeah I think so I think

You know I don’t know um I mean Norland is playing at a high level they came in they kicked their butt um but um you know there was maybe some hangover from one loss to the other um and we were determined not to let that happen

Tonight and that’s a sign of these guys uh focusing attention to detail on what we’re trying to execute so any other questions thanks thank you
