[Bondy] Been saying this for a while and have advocated for his extension but worth repeating: Tom Thibodeau is one of the best things that happened to the Knicks in the last 23 years. Other than Spoelstra, can’t think of a coach who would’ve done better with these rosters.

Thibs gets far too much hate for being the Knicks best coach since Van Gundy

  2. Klutzy_Demand3248

Any coach that has the player respect of Jimmy, Taj, Rose is a good one.

  3. cesarjulius

he is clearly flawed, but that doesn’t cancel out the things he’s really fucking good at

  4. KuntaWuKnicks

Thibs is what New Yorkers want from their players

    Hard work and dedication

That’s all we ask every single day.

It’s clear the players love him too

Thibs is like Randle. They need their flowers from the Knicks fans.

The anti-Thibs tribe is based solely on social media from kids who just repeat the same nonsense over and over and over again circle-jerking themselves into an oblivion of sheer stupidity.

Thibs isn’t the best offensive coach, but he does make matchup moves that lead you to believe he knows what the fuck he’s doing better than the average donut bite fan lmao.

He’s a defensive wizard coach. Anyone who denies that one is a clown.

Unfortunately, social media imbeciles, who fancy themselves as basketball savants, due to their over usage of YouTube clips, think they understand the game. They’re not. Thibs is a brilliant defensive coach who will go as far as his talent takes him, not unlike most head coaches.

And to be honest, the last 5 minutes of a basketball game requires a 1 on 1 killer. A guy who can make buckets and plays. A coach without those players is DOA no matter what plays he calls.

If you have a coach like Thibs you have to have Thibs players. Once that happens you can see the magic. We’re almost there.

Who’da thought that the Knicks would be the most consistent, stable franchise in NYC in 2022/3/4? Thibs is a big part of that. All about the culture.

Completely agree. I was never here for the Thibs slander. He’s not perfect, but he’s the best coach we’ve had during my time watching and it’s not close. Everything changed when he came– there were other factors, but he was one of them. People who wanted him to be fired never seemed to consider who the better alternative is– there isn’t one. These mf wanna take us back to the days of Hornacek and Fizdale.

This is going to sound corny, but i was ecstatic to see some free throw line high sets – ball in to Hert then screen/cut/passes to/from wings – just a different feel and obvs helps to have guys hitting 3s like crazy – the flow seems so much better with spacing and some of these set pieces that just seem to be working really well right now. Enjoying the ride

I remember when he won COTY over Monty and butthurt Suns fans claimed that what he did was a fluke. Turns out that they were talking about their own coach 😂.

One of the best feel-good stories of my years following the Knicks. How many different coaches/philosophies have we tried to throw money at and achieve success in a vacuum? Thibs has had young players develop under his leadership, and despite what a letdown we thought 2019 was, we now have two All-stars mixed with complementary pieces that have made this team a joy to watch.

We most likely aren’t raising the trophy in June, but I think we’re going to be proud of the fight this team will show in the playoffs.

  13. We watched Derek Fisher, Jeff Hornacek, Kurt Rambis and David Fizdale all come through and coach losing season after losing season.

I’m thrilled with what Thibs has done for a franchise that was considered a joke for a long time.

  14. RacinInTheStreet

I remember when he was hired, hearing he couldnt develop young players. That has turned out to be extremely false.

  15. heliumointment

disagree: there’s a few people in this sub that would definitely be better coaches than thibs

don’t take my word for it—you can hear it from them yourself

  16. Juanmiller04

Absolutely love thibs we’ll be up 20 and he’ll be yelling at our guys for missing a defensive rotation he appears to command accountability behind closed doors

  17. firstbreathOOC

I’m sure he’ll get it the org is balls deep in Thibs style

  18. ThatOtherOtherGuy3

How many other coaches could win COTY with Bullock, Burks, Payton, and Noel playing significant minutes?

The hate for him on this sub is ridiculous.

  19. Thibs is my favorite coach in 15 years of watching basketball, full stop.

  20. icebucket22

He deserves to coach out his contract for sure, but an extension will not be approached until we see how we do in the playoffs.
