Grant blocked that shot like a dad making sure his kid knows their place

Here are my thoughts on today’s game:

    * Camara is insanely good on defense – he plays defense like a veteran out there. He knows exactly when and how he can be physical without picking up fouls (a lot of rookies defend like Scoot where they’re overly aggressive and in foul trouble every game), and all of his rotations are crisp and on time. AND he’s so long and strong on the ball, while being able to fight through screens. Just a defensive masterclass tonight.
    * I thought Reath looked pretty solid defensively today too. He’s not really a leaper but is pretty good with his verticality, positioning, and timing – and he’s usually in the right place and the right time. Also the spacing he provides with his shooting is a huge benefit to our offense.
    * The lineup where we were switching everything and had Camara at the 5 was kind of interesting. I don’t think it’s sustainable for long stretches, but Camara as a roller is interesting to me, and I hope to see more of it in the future. And the switch-everything lineups could be really useful against certain teams too.
    * Ant played a really good game tonight (maybe the most complete game I’ve ever seen from him). Took mostly good shots within the offense, did a great job facilitating, hit clutch shots, and had some good moments on defense. He also looks much more explosive getting to the rim than the last few games where he looked like he was running in mud after catching the flu. Also he was super fucking unselfish in OT, picking apart the Nets double teams and getting the ball where it needed to go.
    * Best game from Sharpe in a long time. Good to see him back looking healthy and aggressive, especially in the second half. Good for him.
    * as someone who has been super critical of Chauncey’s game management, I think this was one of his best games in that regard (besides calling timeout with 3 minutes left and a Net down injured). Those two challenges were very clutch.
    * Brogdon was very clutch in OT as an outlet once Ant got doubled. Very clutch, thank u very much.

    Negatives:

    * I’m pretty convinced that there is no uglier offense than a Grant ISO or a postup. I understand going to it as a bailout option if the clock is low or if he has a mismatch, but I hate going to it as a direct option without running any other offense first. Like, he’s never been an efficient post player (or ISO player, for that matter) and the direct ISOs and postups are so ugly especially because he isn’t very good at passing out of them when the defense collapses. It’s a shame because he’s so good at playing off the catch that he’s still efficient overall, but he could be hyperefficient if we cut the ISOs out of his shot diet.
    * Terrible job through the fourth quarter by the rest of the team getting open shots once Ant was doubled. When he’s doubled someone has to flash into the middle of the floor and play it like a short roll situation to move the ball to the open guy, but we didn’t do a very good job of doing that and had trouble getting up quality looks once Ant got rid of the ball. Just awful awful offense. However, we picked the double teams apart in OT – hopefully we can build on that going forward.
    * Scoot has a lot of work to do with his finishing ability. I think he’ll eventually be fine, but some of the layups he misses sometimes are absolutely brutal.

    Good win.

Lot of our dudes needed the games they just had.

  5. kalebglover

Brogdon is worth 5 first i won’t listen for anything less

  6. toadtruck

Simons is a star. I don’t wanna hear anymore nonsense from this sub

  7. It is a joy to watch Anfernee develop into such a clutch weapon. Demanded the extra pressure in ot then handled it so well

  8. kazmir_yeet

Good ass win. Jerami Grant haters need to just admit he’s a natural hooper. He has his issues but he isn’t a bum smh

  9. nightchurn

Reporting from Barclays: Fantastic win. Duop Reath was great in the 4th.

  10. SCOOOOOOT. I’m his biggest dick rider go scoot! All jokes aside, RIP CITY BABY.

Finally a match I can watch live as a European. Super fun match, great team effort. Ant and Brogdon showed Big in clutch time. I Love shaedon energy and mood

Death. Taxes. Sharpe splitting a pair of free throws.

  13. X_SkeletonCandy

Only caught the last few plays of the fourth and all of OT. Looks like I missed a great game!

It’s nice to see the other team fall apart at the end for once.

  14. Akatalasnormas

that behind the back pass by Simons to the Brogdon 3 in OT when they double Simons is going to get overlooked but was butter

  15. I know we have mixed feelings about JG getting alot of the shot creating reps over the young guys, but he’s honestly been really good this season. 22 ppg on near 60% TS and knocking down 42% from 3. He deserves his flowers the way he’s playing this season tbh

    SIMONS HATERS SHOW YOURSELVES

    LET THE CUTIE COOK

  17. waterkisser

Anfernee Simons could have 100 assists in a game and half this sub would still be like tRaDe ThIs iSo BaLL hOG buM

  18. rocky0502

So happy to see Simons show out after not doing too well last two games

  19. Normal_Organization3

Simons is a legit star at only 24 yrs old and is the face of this franchise moving forward

  20. I know he’s not healthy right now but Reath is better than Ayton imo. Team looks way more alive and dynamic with him on the floor.

  21. iguessineedanaltnow

If I see one more trade Ant post after this game..

  22. Shaedon bucket on Claxton to give us the lead 113-111 was huge. I mean to be able to attack an elite defensive big like him at 20 years old is so awesome. When he cuffs the ball and is able to get clear space to get legit dribbles down hill, he is really able to explode up and is a terror trying to stop him without fouling. I don’t care about his efficiency because he clearly looks like a superstar with his smoothness and athleticism

  23. grimyliving

This was a fun one to be at in person. Lots of Blazers jerseys at Barclays.
