Some changes need to be made. First, with the head coach.
we’re one of the worst teams in the league guys, the early start was an aberration based off hot 3pt shooting. its time to sell the vets for anything we can get. there’s no point in trying to win anything this roster. we have to develop young players no star is gonna want to come to this roster as is right now. I don’t even think guys like jalen wilson and watford will be worse than dfs and royce at this point.
You’re up 2 and you keep doubling leaving 40% shooters wide open. That is a fireable offense right there.

Can’t give up 130 to the Blazers even if there was overtime. Just a defensive failure. Too many of those for a roster with these defensive skills.
Aside from the loss, Vince Carter:

How is Cam Johnson consistently so atrocious at the end of games?
Our defense is ass with or without Cam Thomas, and we didn’t have the offensive firepower to close out a game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Mikal had to go nuclear to send us to OT.
But i’m sure some expert analyst in here would tell me that what we just saw was actually better than having the scorer, who thrived in a consistent role earlier in the season, be a part of a closing lineup in a game like this.
damn JV doing everything he can to get that mutual release cheque 😭 just fire his ass ffs. Also Cam J was literally just Joey Buckets from Game 7 vs Bucks tonight.
I hope Sharpe is good. Why isn’t Walker getting more minutes when someone like Johnson is so cold? Happy to see DSJ playing more. He felt solid despite what the +/- says.
I hate to say it because the drop scheme made me sick this year, but I think we missed a good chance to go back to it tonight. Simons, Brogdon, and Grant are good shooters but they don’t really have the spacing to punish drop coverage.
Drop worked against Orlando and Detroit because they’re two of the bottom-5 perimeter shooting teams in the league. Portland is bottom-10 and they burned us by driving to the rim, which is the same way OKC closed the gap the other night when we switched from drop to man coverage.
JV gotta go at this point, I don’t get some of his decision making at all just baffling sometimes

CJ should never close out a game. Play Royce. CJ only works when we’re getting assblasted not when it’s close.
It depressing being a fan of this team. They don’t know how to win games so you’re just waiting to lose. Other team has to sell for us to close out.

That Okc win was a fluke. Okc probably partied the night before and woke up the 2nd half. We nearly bottled a 25+ lead
If you can’t win against a bottom team with a performance like that from Mikal bridges, you absolutely need to make an upgrade at the deadline

Embarrassing loss. This team struggles to execute in the 4th, and even though we sent it to OT, we still couldn’t consistently execute. Still, we were up by 10 PTS at one point, but we blew the lead. We shouldn’t have had to go to OT in the first place if this team could execute, but they struggled. Surprisingly, Bridges actually seems to have broken out of his slump, at least in this game.
I’m annoyed by the loss but the sharpe injury really took the wind out of my sails.
Claxton getting 5 fouls so early made it too easy for the blazers to go at him on the occasion they didn’t have a wide open 3, too.
Been hesitant to call out JV because it does look like an all team slump but damn this mf doesn’t care about losing, his mentality is bs, 0 compromise, 0 hunger, he’s too relaxed sucking ass. He needs to get back to being an assistant coach at best.

Seeing these lineups with Bridges and 4 ball watching average to bad scorers is abysmal. Bridges can get 40 and it’s clearly not enough. We already have bad defense we might as well develop CT and have some offense.

Closing games when they have a lead has been a problem since game 1. I don’t see if changing unless there’s a coaching change unfortunately.
This team is playing meaningless games until they make trades. I’m not convinced anyone on the roster is going to be part of the next really competitive Nets team. We need to start unloading these vets for picks and future assets.
