Just a reminder that no other basketball fans, anywhere, feel sorry for us.
So this sub is the only place to commiserate while we struggle.
We’ll be .500 when Draymond returns and it’s only up from here
This teams feels like Dallas or Minny last yr. We have respectable talent, but we have no chemistry because there is no continuity. A lot of which is due to stupidity and unseen forces such as Wiggs seemingly out of it and Dray’s extracurriculars.
Positives:
1. Kuminga can be a 2nd option but needs more polishing. He broke out the past month and proved that he’s good enough to impact the game positively, and it’s kind of hard to stop him when he gets going. That said, I think next year is really the year where he will be able to do it more consistently
2. Podz and TJD – who would’ve thought they would play many minutes per game as early as now. Sophomore versions of them would be really good and will help us more imo.
Negatives:
1. Wiggs – I know there’s a redditor here that’s keep on posting why Wiggs has been good recently based on stats (he’s been good some games admittedly), but Wiggs is just too bad more than good. Dude is bombing 3 pt games missing easy layups for him. Stats-wise, he has a (-) bpm on every duo combo we throw out there which is more telling to me than a squad bpm. Idk man, I love numbers and analytics, but you cannot convince me otherwise of what I’m watching every night
2. Defense – Coach Nick iirc had an analysis of our defensive struggles and fouling, and it’s due to scheme and lack of proper coaching on this end. To me, we need better defenders esp on the frontcourt
3. Steph – age has been showing more than ever. This man is my most favorite player and has been watching him more than a decade now, and this year is where I’ve seen him look more human in a while. I hope and believe he has one more championship gas in him
Trades must still be made imo. I wont let go of JK, and I’m more willing to let go of Wiggs tbh. I was cautiously optimistic about this season, but it’s clear to me now that this might be a year of development and experimentation. Next year is where I think we will empty the bullet (assuming the players needed to develop, develop) and try to win a championship
What’s with all the Kendrick Perkins burners in this sub man…
There’s still hope guys. Lakers were 17-19 last season, they ended up making WCF, Celtics were 17-19 in 2021-22, ended up making Finals. Warriors were 17-18 last season, ended up making 2nd round. 2010-11 Memphis grizzlies were also 17-19, they ended up taking OKC to 7 games in the 2nd round. And we all know we believe warriors.
It’s not over until it’s over.
Wiggins clearly needs to be traded, but beyond that Draymond being out cant be the only reason their defense looks this bad. This team won in 2022 as the number one defensive team in the league and its completely lost that identity. If they dont get that figured out Stephs slump, Kumingas playing time or any of these other issues wont matter.
I’m certain Kerr is intentionally losing games. It’s the only explanation for his rotations and insistence on pulling the hot hand game after game.
Speculation isn’t helpful, but the more we see of Wiggs, the more I think his absence last season was more about him than anything else.
Someone just doesn’t drop off this much in their athletic prime. I would love to see Minnesota Wiggs at this point.
Or maybe he read an article about quiet quitting.
TJD will be good, but he’s too green to anchor a defense.
I would have started Looney with Kuminga and Wiggs, but Wiggs is tanking everything, so
Steph is fueled by vibes and joy, and this team is bankrupt on that front.
Hoping to see trade news today involves Wiggins
Man this team is so inconsistent like they are proper mid. Each one of them has been average. You just don’t know what you are going to get from them on any given day. Idk this team needs atleast 2 trades to make them go from a inconsistent mid team to a good team hopefully. MDJ needs to do some magic.
