[Charania] The Dallas Mavericks have done their due diligence on Pascal Siakam and Jerami Grant, but felt the price tag was too steep for either of them. Still focusing on getting an upgrade at PF by the trade deadline.

Shams Charania just said this on “[Run It Back](https://x.com/runitbackfdtv?s=21)” on FanDuel TV (channel 245 for me on Optimum). I’ll post the clip if/when they post it on their Twitter timeline.

What do you think the FO is asking for in exchange for Grant?

That is good hear that the front office is valuing him high and trying to get the most in return for him.

  2. I doubt they are asking for too unreasonable of a price, but Dallas has crap to offer, so definitely too step for them

IDK if Dallas has enough assets to be a serious trade partner, the most they could realistically offer would be:

Grant Williams, Josh Green, and OMP.

Maybe if they could figure out a way to include a FRP, but I doubt it.

There’s zero reason to move Grant unless the offer is really good. Unlike Brogdon, moving Grant doesn’t loosen up a log jam of talent.

I bet we’re asking for Lively in return.

I wouldn’t put him as the centerpiece of a Grant trade… but I think Williams could thrive here.

Dumb question but do we need a minimum salary to pay? If we trade Grant and Brogdon, do we need to get a baseline salary return? Or do Ant and Ayton cover it? Our next highest paid player after those 4 is Timelord…

  8. Jerami Grant is hella solid. We aren’t trying to get rid of him and we aren’t trying to suck for the next five years. This year is obviously a rebuild project year and possibly the next, but we will need solid vets soon enough. Happy to hold on to Grant myself.

  9. Fuck Shams. Talk to me when WoJ or Eindy or literally anyone halfway reliable says something.

No point of trading Grant this year. first year of a huge 5 year contract, his value will get significantly better after a year or two

  11. Mavericks would be absolutely deadly if they added Grant… Luka/Kyrie/JG is a nasty trio

I wasn’t aware that the Blazers were even discussing trading JG. It doesn’t make sense to trade him at all. He’s not taking minutes from anybody and putting all our young guys on a team without any vets is just going to make it harder for them to develop, not easier. Until Grant actually wants to get traded somewhere I have the feeling that he’s gonna stay a blazer. We signed him for five years, we lose nothing by keeping him.
